When you realize the ancient aliens series is really just a stealth documentary on how European colonization utterly destroyed even the concept other cultures having basic engineering capacity.

that plus a bunch of blatant old school nazi propaganda being broadcast to a wide audience. used to be my favorite show too! looking back it honestly explains all of the nazi alien episodes. like no joke, one of the archaelogical societies they constantly cite on the show is the Ahnenerbe, which was established in 1935 by Heinrich Himmler to find "proof" of the existence of aryans and to create propaganda to use against the jews and communists. anytime they bring up the Ahnenerbe they are quite literally talking about The Nazis.
I like how in the ghost video, Quinton’s character believes in ghosts but Bigfoot is somehow a smidge too far

The Big Foot Hunter who won't give it up despite his show's cancellation makes me crack up every time.
I love the decision to cut out the ad reads of this video, but not the lead-in to the ad reads. Leading to brilliant comedy like "These glasses are so good, aliens must have made them!" Followed by a quick cut to something completely different.
It's what people talk about when they say adapting something to a different format can provide opportunities to enhance it.
You articulated this a lot better than I did. Something about the set up without the ad, especially when he has the little audio

I love the 'take 8 hours to explain a Nickelodeon show I didn't watch' content, but I do kind of miss the backyard movie interludes.
I love the idea that the some Mayan guy was like “our calendar extends nearly 2000 years into the future. Do I reallly need to make more?” and then we all freaked out because one guy had reasonable expectations of his abilities.
The ghost show video is still one of the best pieces of content anybody on the internet has ever created

Hearing you talk in early 2020 about UA-cam not liking long videos and likely not serving them to viewers is pretty funny to me - a person that found you via a multi hour Sam & Cat video. I thought it was 5 minutes. I was wrong. I didn’t care - I was hooked at minute one. Watched it all and subbed to the Patreon. I’m so glad UA-cam put you on my homepage a few weeks ago.
The multi-hour video genre has really taken off
Last month I clicked on a Harry Potter breakdown I thought was 10 minutes and 10 hours later I was a cartoon character who had been knocked in the head, complete with little snitches swirling around me to indicate to the audience what had happened.
Note: There's a joke in the documentary part about Baskin "probably voting for Biden", so, clarification, that video was made in March 2020-ish: He is referring to voting for Biden in the Democratic PRIMARIES, not the general.
I'm glad Quinton is knowledgeable enough about his audience to go so far as to string his videos into a continuous video. So other artists and I can draw and watch without having to search for the next one

I've been painting everyday for about 14 years and use youtube as a tv basically. These long videos are my go-to for my real long sessions. If your an artist, you know exactly what im talking about. I appreciate these long videos with my heart.

the hunting hitler series always makes me so mad. especially when they accuse people who potentially fled their home country to escape being forced to commit atrocities by the nazi regime of harboring a genocidal monster
I have my degree with a focus in German (mostly linguistics but I had to take over 36 hours of history, political, and cultural courses as well), and the amount of misconceptions about Germany that makes it's way to the American pop zeitgeist is exhausting to debunk. I've had to tell GROWN ADULTS that Germans don't ignore the Holocaust, they actively learn about and visit the sites of those atrocities. And the same rhetoric racist white people here use, some racist white people there use. Including, literally within a decade or so AFTER THE WAR, people saying "I wasn't Nazi, I'm just a German!" to various leaders setting up memorials... like... you sold out your neighbors, especially when you ignored their plight, and now, when those survivors have to like... move back, you're being a bitch about it. It's terrible.
Damn thanks for debunking this crap. I'm German myself and can confirm that during school we visited 2 concentration camps and a lot of our education is spend by learning about WWII and the holocaust especially. I've seen multiple occasions where Americans where like "why do we still talk about slavery germans don't talk about the holocaust either" which is extremely far removed from reality, but most of them don't believe you when you tell them about it and start insulting you. It's like they aren't interested in learning this stuff to begin with.

My favorite thing about this is how it shows how hard Quenton has been working on the Icarly series. This is a whole year's worth of work, and it's still shorter than all but one of the Icarly videos.

I did a history degree and since a class I had in 3rd year I haven’t looked at anything documentary or ‘based on’ history or real events in the same way, it all does a bad job, even the books I was reading to write essays about had misinformation in them, so a show with no references at all is going to be guiding to a conclusion at the very least if not flat out lying to you. 😂
Exactly why we need media literacy to be widely taught, I learnt to pick apart news articles at a really basic level in school and I'm constantly astounded by the things supposedly well educated adult people believe online

my stepdad is obsessed with the ancient aliens tv show to the point that he has bought multiple seasons on dvd and gone to a few alien cons. hes also a mexican man from LA who has multiple chicano tattoos and very much part of that culture. when i asked him once while he was watching ancient aliens "doesn't it ever bother you that these white guys stand around and tell you that your ancestors were too dumb to do anything without the help of aliens?" and he didnt talk to me for two days after that lmao. like you quinton, i have also watched too much ancient aliens and it really does rot your brain.
Not to send you down a rabbit hole or anything but I wanted to suggest the documentary Resurrect Dead: The Mystery of the Toynbee Tiles. I do this partly because I haven't seen anyone else mention it yet, partly because it's one of my favorite documentaries of all time, and partly because the history and other works of the filmmaker are worthy of an entire documentary all on their own. Love the work!

Ah hell yeah. Some of the History channel stuff were the first videos that got me into the channel in the first place, and while I'd still run them in the background from time to time, it's great to have a full on big boi version of all of them.
