Alright, loved this video, my comments are rather long when I comment and want to thin them out, failed on this one. Love The Who by Numbers, first contemporary who album I bought when it came out. 10:49 Late 1980s. When I first got this LP , I made a cassette for my Aiwa walkman and would get high on pot & take long walks at night thru the quiet neighborhoods. This is slightly better than The Dreaming.
22:32 In junior high school, I had a friend (my age) that was musically sophisticated because he had 2 older brothers that were "college radio dudes". Now this was during the era of Boston's first LP and Toys in the Attic. Thus ; he made me a cassette of Kink's Preservation Society and ; in a dinky , quaint way- I enjoyed it . Fast forward to the mid-late 1980s - and I am working in a used record store. I put on a copy of Preservation Society and my mind is blown & rekindled at the same time! Instant Desert Island Disc for me. The REALLY difficult thing is talking about this to people who only know the MONSTROSITY known as Preservation Act 2 (!) -- and they confuse the 2 ! LOL. (Truth be told- I like 2 songs on Act.2 ).
100% agree with XTC and KATE BUSH, but THE WHO SELL OUT will be always be my fav of them, THE KINKS Something Else, BOWIE eehhhhmmm too difficult ,maybe LOW or Scary Monsters just because it's the perfect combination of the pop and experimental side of him, anyway all great albums to listen to!!!
I am spoiled. Have had the income to purchase vinyl over a long time but did not had the time to listen. Thankfully the bug bit me. Now I am having time to fully enjoy the music. You ha
Kid A bsolutely! Never had the chance to listen to the Buffalo Springfield in my record heyday of dollar bins in the late 80’s as CD’s downsides hadn’t been completely revealed. Now I’m chomping at the bit. Great XTC pick. Dark side…agree wholeheartedly. Not over-ranked. It’s that good. Comes a Time sticks hard with me….have to review. Stone are a tough one. What a run of great records. Ziggy makes me giddy. The kinks are a major absence in my collection and I love them every time I hear them. Got lucky with the Bob Dylan mono box. My first Boxset was the Eric Claptons Crossroads in the 80’s as it introduced me to his best work before the solo career. White Lp gets my vote-variety and that lo-if quality made it feel like the best band dropping unvarnished nuggets. Maybe it was my worn out copy? The Cure, Costello, The Clash…..The usual suspects. You’ve probably done all those already but bands you enjoy like hearing them for the first time. Also, my jazz knowledge is for crap. Picked up some Miles, Blakey, but treated with more rarified air so more difficult to know exactly where to go. Deprived of these sounds growing up in my small Mt. Town. Pre-War loves ya’ back!
I'll agree that this is a very good list for 60's and 70's records. My list would be similar for those decades. You have only 3 albums from the 80's so I would take them out and I would do an 80's list. If I do an all time list would be only records from the 80's and 90's. To me those two are the best decades. The 70's would be next, then the 2000's and the last two would be the 2010's and the 60's.
21:55 Again, I go against the popular vote. I like Ziggy , however - I really really feel that Bowie's APEX was Aladdin Sane thru Diamond Dogs . Ziggy has too many sleepy songs like Five Years (REALLY boring) , Rock N' Roll Suicide and the half-baked Starman (I always wished this song was FASTER ) . (Of course, I'm DUCKING the punches now).
The brilliant, socially-conscious song Melt the Guns was only 30 years ahead of its time. English Settlement is a fuckin masterpiece as are a few other XTC gems.
Mazzie. I Love Ya Man! I love your videos! And you insights. BUT PLEASE....GET A LAVALIER MICROPHONE! Your voice sounds like a person talking on speaker phone from far away. Lavalier mics don't cost much and you can get a looooooonnnnnng extension cord to move around the room. Basic sound rule - The closer the mic is to the voice, the better the sound. So please, for us, get yourself a lav mic.....PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE...???
Here is a business idea, if anybody is interested: the “anti-Mike Lindell pillow company”-first product Surrealistic Pillow. I will take a small percentage (10%?).
I've only managed to, just about, tolerate about two Rolling Stones tunes over the years. Music for Wankers their opus, apparently. Just watched, briefly, a BBC documentary on them, came out last week. Got me thinking, they have been generating pop music for 62? years, is this a record for a band of this ilk? So I looked it up, some argue the Beach Boys beat them by a year. Remarkable!
12:30 I'm VERY VERY fussy with my XTC. #1 for me : Drums and Wires. End of high school: 1980. Springtime. That album is MAGIC . #2 is Black Sea . Every other album , I have to "cherry pick" songs . They got worse as they went along and then they got an a BIG JOLT of LIFE with Dukes of the Stratosphere (Yes, some fans think "Dukes.." is the best thing they ever did).
adjective: rank; comparative adjective: ranker; superlative adjective: rankest 1. (of vegetation) growing too thickly and coarsely, e.g. UA-cam ranking videos. 2. (especially of air or water) having a foul or offensive smell, e.g. IMHO the Grateful Dead
23:25 In my youth- I was SO TURNED off by BOXED record sets . LOL. It was just so , WRONG , I guess scholastic and weird to me. I really cannot explain it . I guess it was like a boxed record set to learn French or Italian that turned me off? Or that boxed set of "classy" "Classical records" --- the one that butler on TV would harp on "I'm sure you remember these classics"..... LOL. Maybe it was that BIG HONKIN' CHICAGO boxed set ? Oh P.S. Another turn off on ATMP : Horrible dreary cover too! Those gross big rubber fisherman's boots. "Turn Me OFF , dead man". Indeed. All Things Must Pass came to me LATE in life ; actually did not "get into it" until the DVD release (2001?) . That said , I think "Beware of darkness" is THE BEST SONG EVER WRITTEN by George. Period. And yeah, I "cherry pick" a LOT of what's here and pretend it's a single album in my head. Hey, whatever's cool with me. Right?
Tumbleweed Connection was REAL FEELING.... and his best -

I am spoiled. Have had the income to purchase vinyl over a long time but did not had the time to listen.
Thankfully the bug bit me. Now I am having time to fully enjoy the music. You ha
Buffalo Springfield Again great choice!!
Nice Channel , to slow down, in a good way (-; ,
Kid A bsolutely!
Can you rank your number one rankings?
No ;-)
Phil Collins - Face vaue and stop. Elton John '69 to '76 because of Bernie Taupin's exceptional writing. IMO since then EEEEEEEJ been dire.
Yeah when I make more ranking videos of later bands they will be included.
I'm probably in the minority thinking Atom Heart Mother is the best Floyd album.
Thats high up for me....
Like your videos. Good stuff. Im about your age. I dont think I agreed with a single choice except the last one.
The Best Album by a Famous Group who no-one knows about:
..... Cheap Trick - Rockford (2006)
Love it 😍
21:55 Again, I go against the popular vote.
I wonder who would win in a street fight between Billy Joel and Phil Collins???
At the moment it would be BJ.
@@One_Persons_Opinion lol. Right
SNIFF was is that rank smell- Must be Vinyl
Disraeli Gears: More of a Jack Bruce album
Here is a business idea, if anybody is interested: the “anti-Mike Lindell pillow company”-first product Surrealistic Pillow. I will take a small percentage (10%?).
Mike ‘s a true Patriot🇺🇸 ! FJB!
@@jackwezesa1081 I think you have the wrong flag.
As the academics say, in the final analysis, I don't think I could ever do without Abbey Road.
How about a Nick Cave ranking
That’s one in my list so someday yes 🤠
I love Kate's bush 😋 🇬🇧
2 great Super Furry Animals tracks not on LPs
Man Don't Give a F@ck
Ice Hockey Hair
I have the CD
Ice Hockey hair available again on vinyl ep following a recent RSD
adjective: rank; comparative adjective: ranker; superlative adjective: rankest
Right?
You do realize there have been great albums that were recorded in this century, right?
Stop with the nostalgia and discover something new!
I don’t get Radiohead 😂
Abbey Road
I like George Bush better than Kate Bush 😆
