one trojan next to a PREATOR ARMORED LAUNCHER is great ! hit on 2+ with order reroll ones ignor cover and out of line of sight penalty is good ! sad its so expensive
I have a list I've been meaning to try out with proxies that uses 2 praetors supported by Trojans and a lord solar order blob, while 2 rogal dorns and a macharius Vulcan push up the board supported by lone enginseers and a trio of cyclops demo vehicles run around doing secondaries or occasionally blowing up on an enemy. Idk if that'll be good but I look forward to giving it a whack
I've seen this used...in two lists both by the same guy. Who was This Guy and beloved by the local meta because he bought wacky lists but also because he would bring armies to tournaments deliberately built to Counter whaterver the Meta Army List were at the time being brought by the asshole of the local meta "That Guy" who only cared about winning. Both guys were very wealthy, but one was Bugs Bunny and the other was an asshole Elmer Fudd. First was reloading a swarm of vehicles all equipped with hunter killer missiles. It was something ridiculous like 10 missiles from vehicles all "technically" within range. Also included some tech priests to repair as well. As i recall it worked really well . But only because it was a specially built to take out low model count armies Second was using it with a tech priest, a landing pad, and...a couple of the fliers i dont recall which. He would continuously repair and rearm them every round and again it was built around countering an army without much anti air abilities
This should be fun with a Shadowsword! Its main weapon has the heavy keyword, so with an order from Leontus, it hits on 2+, rerolling ones. With strength 24, it will hit and wound (almost) everything on twos. It will not be the most competitive combo ever, but it will be very funny watching the opponents shitting themselves and playing chicken to avoid that tank XD
I played with one and kept it near my exterminator tank. Having reroll of ones and reroll wounds was really good at taking down infantry and putting hurt elsewhere. It kept the tank in the fight each turn healing it up. It also makes for a good piece of rolling cover for infantry.
I've run a Trojan and a engiseer in my primay army for as long as I can remember. At this point they're auto-include for me. Making my frontline a little tougher, and my back line hit better has come in clutch so many times.
Mordian Lord solar or tank commander Praetor missile launcher Trojan hits on 4 basic with the heavy rule and ignores minus to hit when effected by an order Lord Solar orders it to take aim, hitting on on 3+ now, heavy rule makes it hit on a 2+ Trojan gives it reroll 1 to hit Top kek
o7 . 122nd Highland Void Dragoons reporting in Sir! Our Brigades here on the backlines only Deploy Trojan Support to aid our Praetor Tanks. When given orders, Praetors come with there own recon, Re-rolling 2's to hit with Indirect fire is simply Beautiful. -End Transmission-
I tried running these in an all tank list but it just didnt work. Having the support wasn't as valuable as having an extra tank that could just fire and deal damage. I'd say maybe just bring one to back up something you need to hit, like a leman russ vanquisher. That being said depending the game you are playing the vanquisher could be useless if you are fighting like mostly infantry so i'd say the use of one of these is very situational at best.
The leman russ vanquisher really isn't a big enough slugger to justify this. If you're looking at a Trojan, I'd say look towards something really really big and really really shooty. High power artillery vehicles like the manticore or praetor, tank obliterators like a shadowsword, etc.
I think this would be useful backing up something that you spent a huge amount of points on. Like a Shadowsword or Banesword. You spent so much on that firepower already, so making it hit is useful, and the trojan is fast enough to stay close.
I tend to agree, but a Shadowsword hitting on 2s, rerolling 1, and sniping titans from across the field could still be useful. Unfortunately both tactics can fall victim to "the opponent went first and nuked my units before I got a chance to put any of these strategies into action."
ive done this since late 8th ed- three trojans with three krieg medusa carriages. mobile cover for the guns, the ability to move the guns, and rerolls. surprisingly cheap too.
Pre-9th dex, the Trojan could reload your 1 shot weapons, so the cheese was it could in theory reload the deathstrike. Maybe you take it instead of an enginseer since it can keep up? Dunno, MG.
The wording on the Trojan Support Vehicle rule counts towards melee attacks as well as shooting attacks, and applies during the enemy turn (until your next command phase), so would that effect overwatch stratagem? Reroll 1s for overwatch might be nice.
I like the idea of running one or two of these to buff your heavy tanks while the bulk of your list is spent on things like Bullgryns, Attilans, Death Korps or Units with Torrent weapons to control objectives without relying too much on the ranged firepower/accuracy of your infantry. In a pinch you could charge them in to battle as a sacrifice to keep enemies at bay from your important tanks and key objectives.
I have never seen Anyone use it. They keep this thing but we lose stuff like the gryphon heavy mortar and the colossus siege mortar and all the other cool old school armour the guard used to have but this thing is still around. Seems fair
I'm very curious what the opinion of the Hades Breaching Drill is. It seems incredibly vague as to whether you can (I would assume) only transport 10 troops while it instead only says "one friendly Astra Militarum Infantry unit in reserves". ??? Edit: ah actually, I've noticed that you've already made a video about the unit for 10th edition
honestly it would have been fun if it could have reloaded any one shot weapons for a vehicle or squad in a set range or granted sustained fire 1 to another tank . Giving the Deathstrikes the chance to reload might make it them a bit more viable plus having a squad of Armoured Sentinels at the back reloading with HK's every turn would be an very strong anti-armour and monster option. We currently don't have a way to give sustained fire to our tanks a support vehicle is probably the best choice for that to come from.
Well, that and the Sentinel's reroll affects every unit that shoots at the target, and makes indirect even more accurate. The Trojan only affects one unit, that is specifically a vehicle.
? Cost? Scout move? Reroll one's for army, ignore indirect penalty for indirect, melee profile, size footprint, receive orders 24" away and from more sources, revivable.. quite a bit actually
It just doesn’t seem worth it compared to an enginseer unfortunately. If the only way to make it worth it is to follow a dorn/ superheavy I would think a 4++ would be way more valuable for a unit so key to your list. If this thing just healed flat 3 then that would be something to talk about but even then the enginseers ability is soo good by comparison. It might be better when supporting artillery because if they need a 4++ then somethings gone wrong and the re-roll 1s is more relevant but is it worth the points to just sit in the back giving re-roll 1s to one other vehicle?
I just played a mechanized infantry army versus my friend's mostly leg infantry army. I had a Vanquisher and a standard Russ. The Trojan would not have helped me in that game.
Sigh... please run a squad of 3 scout sentinels. He started off rough but came back to the light on this one. Scout Sentinels are like raptors, they love hunting in groups. 180pts for 2cp to come back is mega value. Idgaf about this tank tbh but when he started whacking on sentinels I was like... uh you haven't ran a squad of them yet L00l. Ive seen whackers run 1 scout that gets obliterated like he said. Imagine running a HWT with 1 mortar, 1 lascannon, 1 heavy bolter. You'd just sigh at the waste. Same goes for lone senty, just not the way they are intended to run.
normally I agree with your opinion with these videos mordian, but I've gotta be honest, this time, you're talking out of your arse XD!!! Still love your content
As much as I keep trying to write one into my armoured list it just doesn't seem better than just taking two engineers, who also get lone operative while they go to work...
the Trojan is 80 points, gives reroll on 1s, and heals. its only 25 points more to get an enginseer AND a sentinel which will do everything the trojan does, but will also give you a 4+ invul from the enginseer, more damage with the sentinel weapons, and you can bring the sentinel back if it dies. Not to mention if for some reason you wanted multiple trojans, its only 5 points more to get an engineer and 2 sentinels over 2 trojans, and if you're insane and want 3 trojans, its cheaper to get an engineer and 3 sentinels than 3 trojans and it does more for you...
This is not your madest video, I am actually considering binning off the sentinel and perhaps sqeezing a few other points out to pop one in as a tester...
Usually most people just look at firepower defense etc. They’re the easiest characteristics to use and appreciate. Only the better players appreciate support units
Run it in that double shadowsword list you keep flirting with running. One thing I don't think I saw mentioned is getting the reroll 1s on split fire. Maybe you have a mahoosive firing deck spreading the love, or maybe some weapons are differing in ranges. The model is pretty, hope GW don't randomly legend it.
As someone who's been wanting to build some kind of "engineering company" list for a little while, this sounds brilliant

Really wanted to try this out, then the rules update came.
And once again the Preator is no longer a viable artillery option.
There is an STL on Thingaverse for this vehicle.

I've 3D printed two of them. I'm really excited to play them in my upcoming list.

Wow! My old 3D model in the first minute. Cool! =)

Mordian
Lord solar or tank commander
Praetor missile launcher

Lord Solar orders it to take aim, hitting on on 3+ now, heavy rule makes it hit on a 2+
Trojan gives it reroll 1 to hit

And wounds vehicles and monsters on 4's. Most infantry on the same.

The 4++ is more important than reroll 1s. I had Trajann kill a baneblade in 1 turn.

I use my Trojan Support Vehicle to aid my Basilisk or Wyvern in the back of the battlefield. Rerolling 1's to hit go a long way for artillery!

take it to put it with a shadowsword, so it make shadowsword even more effective.

I remember there was an "Atlas support vehicle" too, based on a Russ chassis... Is that similar?
Sadly thats gone now :(
Yes I remember this! The Atlas! That was cool
Quirky trojan support vehicle busts it down Armageddon style. Is it goated with the emperor's blessings?

I was not on board until you told me the points. Was expecting 120 or something. I might swap out my scount sentinel for one.
Armatures discuss tactics, professionals discuss logistics. But 40k isn't a game about logistics.
could be really fun for something like Thanatos
or crusade
I don't think i've ever seen this model for sale anywhere.
This a tank commander/lord solar and a shadow sword that didn’t move that turn would be a flamethrower sniper
