- Half-Life 3 development has long been a rumor that the internet gets caught up in again and again. This time it would seem that a voice actor posted that they had a part in Half-Life 3 on their portfolio, but using a codename. however the internet was quick to connect the dots and discover that this is none other than the long-rumored Half-Life 3 leak that would confirm the game is alive and well.

I can only say *I HOPE SO* ! I have The Orange Box (PC discs) & loved 1-2 !! The gameblew me away. I had taken a break from PC gaming in the 90's so when I came back, I had never played Half Life or the first Halo or RE4.. very nostalgic time.

I'll never believe it exists until Valve announce it themselves. I'm sure there were voice actors on many different canned iterations of HL3.
Those games didn't weren't in as advanced stage of development as whatever the next Half-Life game is, only one iteration barely made if beyond prototyping phase and still got canned. What's the point of appointing actors to make voiceover while the game doesn't even have a story flashed out. That's quite illogical.
I mean if it has voxel destruction, when source 2 never had that... would be interesting, if they are working with voxel technology, what if it's a sandbox Half-life game. I mean Look at how well pretty much any competent sandbox game does on steam. If they made 1984 with ailiens sandbox survival game. With the quality we all love from valve. That would be awesome too.
@@TheGoreforce HLX seems to be recycling a lot of systems they had planned for the last HL3 iteration and even L4D3 as well as adding something new. So quests, advanced physics, some proceduraly generated stuff, better vehicle mechanics, smarter npcs and more. Picture a modernised Half-Life gameplay loop in more open ended environment

@@Droogie128 The next game in files is being referred to as HLX and you play as an HEV user. Since Decay isn't confirmed to be canon there is only one character that is known to be using this suite and it happens that it's Gordon Freeman

Oh my gosh, I would absolutely go crazy if Half-Life 3 actually releases !! The Half-Life series are my favorite games of all time, and this release would just be incredible !!

Man I remember playing Half-Life on the Orange Box on my X360 and loving it, then being super bummed at the realization that the cliffhanger ending was never going to be resolved.
Now it's been so long I don't even remember what the cliffhanger was, I really don't care anymore. Didn't bother with HL:Alyx. If HL3 comes out great, but you better believe I'm not playing it until I find out if it has a cliffhanger ending or not.

Even if this isn't a Half-Life 3, it's dedinitely a Half-Life game. You cannot deny the fact that HLX is a Half-Life game, but the connection to Project White Sands os debatable.
I don't think that it's fair to bring up that actor and their name, because it's probably not their fault, but the agency that manages their page

What if it's the orange box with Episode 1 and 2, remade, and then the episode 3 is the bonus, deadlock is their TF2. Who knows what their other two small projects could be. then they release that on all platforms with powerful enough systems.

valve is sitting on even more of a gold mine with this game. I remember playing HL1 when it first came out. It was amazing and left us wanting more. Then 2 came out. Amazing. Alyx I never played. I don't do VR, but it didn't look that exciting. If they would make that game playable like a normal game, I think it would still sell well.
It's honestly just wild how this so called, "HL3 Leak" got the whole HL community woken up. I love it.

@@neoconker2k8 They didn't put that post-credits scene in HLA for no particular reason. There is 100% a new Half-Life game in pretty advanced stage of development, because references to it in Valve games are now as frequent as Half-Life Alyx references in Source 2 games a year before it was announced
Half-Life in the end is in the same genre as Doom, Halo, Crysis, Bioshock and Wolfenstein. You're not going to get a GTA or Cyberpunk competition with that series.

Half-life 2 hasn't been relevant for over a decade , I loved the games but I feel the old fans would continue to over hype it and new players won't have the connection to it.
Bro Half Life Alyx is INSANELY good, not sure how you can not be a VR fan, the level of immersion is 100x as much. If you get sick just use teleportation.

I don't want to get my hopes up just yet, all we know is that you play as an HEV suit wearing character and there will be xen creatures. It might be another spinoff, but tbh I'd gladly play it as long as it's non VR and has some kind of connection to the HL universe. We also know that they've been working on this since HL Alyx, so hopefully an official announcement is gonna happen in the near future

The problem is, games like half life aren't exactly rare these days. Itll be a lot harder for a new half life game to be ground breaking or set itself apart from all the other great AAA titles.
It won't be groundbreaking in the same way, no. But it could turn out to be an uncommonly brilliant narrative driven FPS adventure. Despite what people keep asserting here, I don't personally feel we're tripping over those.

2. HL fans said new HL game leaks were clickbait for the 2 years of HLA leaks before HLA was announced and confirmed all those leaks.

Im not with you on the second point tho, it's been 17 years already. We fucking hope hl3 releases, but this kind of stuff has happened so many times it's just a gambling at this point, with most of the odds of lossing like always.
The ones who have really been waiting for this game all this time are just not as delusional to believe anything could be a half-life 3 leak anymore, if this ends up being a half life game, it will sadly be a spinoff or maybe another genre game related.

I don't understand why people are so obsessed with Half-Life 3 vaporware. It's been 20 years since Half-Life 2 and we are in a completely different universe now. Half-Life 2 was a landmark game, for sure, but personally I enjoyed the Portal games more. You have to reconcile your nostalgia with the reality that there are a lot of outstanding developers nowadays, unlike the un-crowded field of the late 90s and early 2000s. Who knows? Maybe Valve is looking to make a landmark game. I'm sure they still have a lot of the talented Gen-Xers who worked on the original games.
Being pedantic, It's not really vaporware, they can't fail to deliver what they have never confirmed they were making. I do get your point and agree to an extent. Worth bearing in mind, HLA is still considered top tier VR gaming by almost everyone I talk to about it. There's no real reason to think they aren't capable of blowing our socks off with HL3 in that strange way that Valve tend to have a knack for. Even their daft little Steamdeck calibration game is far better than it needs to be. They're an odd company - very wealthy, owned by one guy, they seem to value their talent. I would never bet against them.

Because valve is built different, and Half Life is not a normal game, it has it's own design philosophy. This has been explained to death for over a decade.

They probably don"t need to do that. They might do it. But i can assure you i played thru hl2 and hl2 episode 1 in VR just a month ago. Point being the modders did a fantastic job. I played thru the game like 8 times before. In VR it was a completely new experience. Even with that 2004 graphics. TBH the graphics are timeless for me.

So, the prophecies were true...
i was a Half-Live fan right from the beginning, played everything I could get my hands on (except Alex...I thought that was rubbish and I don't have the extortionately priced VR stuff anyway) I waited for HL 3 for soooooo long I just eventually gave up, I don't play anything else....anyway, (after 25 years) just deleted it all from my drives and uninstalled Steam...There ya go Gabe, one puppet less to play with.
