60 days w my new Radster. Great bike overall! Bad: I’m experiencing a loose head tube. Noticeable when braking with the front brake. Starting to shake like a car that needs its brakes replaced, not sure of the cause yet. Not obvious how to fix. I got a flat on my first long ride. Upsetting but good exercise to learn I need bike rack. Costco now has a cheaper better version that can carry 3x. My Hollywood rack can do two. Good: smooth ride. Shifts well, looks nice, felt solid until my head tube issue. Would like to see mods! Seatpost, pedals, sound bars, lights, cable guards under crank, bmx handlebars etc
Not a good sign when bikes are becoming faster the strength of the frame is somehow reduced. First I have heard of any RAD that wobbles, and certainly worth noting.
Thanks, I was looking for a review that wasn’t a thinly veiled marketing video, complete with the “buy from our affiliate link” pitches. BTW, I’m 260 lbs. I saw your answers regarding range and climbing power. Can you share how much you weigh? Thanks again.
I weigh a little under 200lbs (all muscle of course 😉). I just ordered a second battery because overall I do like the bike. I took my old radrover 5 out recently and the new bike is definitely better.
@@mattysreviews50 Thanks. I did notice their charger is only 2A, so I guess it takes overnight to charge the battery. Is that what you’ve found? This looks like the all around type bike that will do a lot of things decently. My problem is I have a small SUV with no towing package, so I probably wouldn’t be able to take it to a destination. I can see myself starting with this one and then going with a folding one, at some point, to have . Have a good one.
I have one. It's my first e bike and I live in a hilly area with not so good roads. I like the bike when I'm riding around my neighborhood but for longer trips I am not that big of a fan. I get about 14 miles out of a full battery and there not being a back shock really is a pain in the back side. I also find it to be really heavy and if you don't shift down before coming to a stop it's hard to get going unless you use the throttle. I may have just got the wrong one for me but if anybody has any tips I'd love to hear them.
14 miles? Are you pedaling at all or just throttle? What pedal assist level are you using if you are pedaling? That is MUCH lower than advertised range…
Hey, I really enjoyed your video. I definitely felt that like professional bloggers are not as transparent as they seem. Would like to know more about the torque sensor and how it compares to Specilized. .
The specialized is definitely better, more refined and responsive (the bike is twice the price so not unexpected). I do like the torque sensor on the radster better than the cadence sensor on the radrover. It has a more natural feel but there is a little delay, it’s not bad though.
Thanks for your review, which is the only one currently available that is not sponsored. Do you have any additional thoughts - pros and cons now that you've had it a couple months longer?
I have been enjoying the bike. I have not been able to ride as much as I would like due to house projects and work. I definitely think there is a wobble at higher speeds on the regular size. I ended up getting a second battery. Overall it is a good bike. Sold and comfortable.
Amazing video! What bike would you recommend if you wanted a bit more speed (regardless if technically street legal)? Mostly for city riding. Thank you for the honest review!
@@alexkurland8323 I would definitely look at the wired cruiser. This is a powerful step through with dual batteries and full suspension. The biggest downside that I can see is the weight. This is just over 100lbs so maneuvering it around might be difficult. I have never ridden it so I have no firsthand knowledge of the bike. Not sure I have any other suggestions. Thanks for the comment!
Is that a proprietary battery? If it dies would we have to go to Rad for replacement? It seems like the bikes are cheaper but the accessories and aftermarket stuff is pricey.
I was really wondering why the range was very comparable to my old rad city. Of course, I knew this bike is less efficient, especially at higher speeds but it has a bigger battery right? Apparently not
I’m not sure. I do believe it is a bit of a bigger battery. The radster trail is heavier I think and the tires are wider so I’m not sure. I think I’m about the same range as my old radrover and I’m not sure why. I don’t know if the radster pulls more power. I have not done a head to head comparison. (Maybe I should).
I have a radcity 5 plus and it's a good utilitarian bike for sure. It takes me to work in the summer. I was considering this new Radster (the road variant) but with the new Velotric Discover 2 I think I will wait a bit. Nice bikes but is there a way to make them less heavy? these are 70lbs!
it's definitely heavy. you really only notice the heaviness when you are trying to lift it or peddle it without the motor. I had my bike out for a trail ride the other day and it did great. I think it has to be that heavy with the motor and battery. there is more force on the bike than peddle power only (acoustic bikes). one nice thing about Velotric is I believe they are available in some shops so you can check them out in person first.
Amazon. The mirror is MEACHOW New Bar End Bike Mirror, Crystal UHD Automotive Grade Glass Lens E-Bike Mirrors, Scratch Resistant, Safe Rearview Mirrors, (Blue Left Side) ME-022LB And the seat post is Suntour SR SP12 Suspension seat Post I definitely recommend both!
1:36 - Did you mean kJoules? Wattage is the rate at which energy is transferred from the battery to the motor....not sure if that is what you were after.
Overall it does well I think. It can’t do as well as a decent mid drive due to gearing (any hub motor) but it’s better than the radrover 5. It’s definitely more torque. I live in a hilly area and I can climb the hills without a problem but you need to gear down and pedal. The motor only puts out 750w so it can’t speed up the hills but it can climb.
I live in a hilly area and I do like to use the throttle. I get about 20 miles or so. You can definitely get much farther if you go slower and it’s flat. The range that companies quote are not really realistic.
Correction - Rear turn signals can be manually turned off or will turn off automatically two minutes into use.
Good to know. I didn’t catch that.
Thanks for honest review and critique!
I was wondering about the wobble myself. Thanks for the review.

Yes, I agree but it’s really fine at lower speeds. I do suspect the large size bike will be more stable.
Can confirm that the large has no issues when hitting 35+mph even on more ruff terrain
No, I can confirm. I have 200 miles on the large model

Yes I believe it is proprietary. It is a bummer I think most bikes are proprietary only batteries now unfortunately
