I didn’t want a cat either until one very cold and snowy day. I noticed a cat walking through a foot of snow. I tried to get her/him into my garage or home. She made it through the winter and gave me a surprise 6 little kittens. Her name is Winter and I kept one of her kittens too. We named her Spring. Happy to say I’m a cat owner. She taught me strength, love and I’m so grateful for her.

You, sir, are a real man, caring for your mom and sharing your emotions. The thing about pets is their love is unconditional. They are always happy to see us and have amazing empathy to what we are feeling. May all the fond memories ease your loss.
Thank you, that is exactly what I was thinking, you can’t find men like that too often. You are a good egg! What a great cat, no one can replace this one, but you can find another one to love. I sure hope so, take care because you are a really kind person.

This makes think of my dog that had when i was 10. He was a shitzu, and was rescued from hurricane sandy. I only had him for 2 years, and about 1.5 years in his health spiraled with his blindness coming into full swing, on top of that he was having seizures. My parents didn't want him to suffer, so he was put down. For the following 2 to 3 years I would cry uncontrollably when I saw dogs or dog related items like toys, kenels, and food. It was hard because he was a great dog, he could feel my pain when I was bullied as a kid. And for that I'm forever grateful. Thank you Sammie, you will forever be my dog, and you deserved all the love and attention we gave you. You will be missed.
We call them pets but they're really members of the family. No matter how bad you smell, or if you're losing your hair, or whatever. They always love you and will never screw you over.

Rootless Wanders, I spent 23 wonderful years in constant fear of one day losing my cat Tiggy. When the awful day finally came, it was actually worse than I feared, but ultimately not as bad as the cumulative years of dread and anxiety. My point is, don’t let fear of losing your fur kid take away the joy of being with him or her right now.
@@ruinsane100 Wise words! Jesus once stated,"who of you by being anxious(worry) can add one cubit to your life span."Never be anxious about the next day.Matthew6:27Take one day at a time and learn to cultivate Faith and joy.
When I first got a cat, I thought that at least when I lost her, it would not be as painful as losing a dog - which is excruciating. I had not had cats before. Little did I know how much I would love her and how absolutely devastated I would be when I did lose her, prematurely to heart disease. I was completely and utterly heartbroken. So now, I have both cats and dogs and love them all dearly and dread the day which will inevitably come when I have to say goodbye. If you don't have pets, you don't realize how difficult it is to say goodbye and how deep the loss is. But grief is the price for loving them, and however long we have them, it's never long enough
My dear friend, I understand and know your pain. This poem is about dogs, but believe me, it applies to cats just as well. We did not domesticate these wonderful, loving creatures, they came to us. I am convinced that God made them specifically to be companions to us humans. I give you... OLD DOGS DON'T DIE... Old dogs don't die; they can't. They've merely run up ahead; they're waiting for us just out of sight. Close your eyes late at night and you may smell his musky odor, or perhaps hear his snuffle from the next room. Pay attention and you may feel his nose on your hand or the back of your calf. When your final day comes, you can go on to meet him; he's never left you and never will, and when you close your eyes for the last time, you'll open them again to be met with his Bright eyes and wagging tail. Old dogs don't die, at least, not those dogs who take the biggest chunks of our hearts with them when they leave us. Those dogs are inextricably part of our souls, and they go with us wherever we are. Though we may not see them, we know they're there because our heart is still beating; we still breathe, and those of us who have been truly touched by a good dog know our lives really started the day we met them. Magnificent dogs don't die. They shepherd our dreams and only allow the good ones through the gates of our consciousness. They watch over us much as they did in life, and that moment when we step just barely outside of death or disaster, it's because they moved our feet or they stopped short in front of us as they did in life. You see, a good dog is something only given to a few people. They are a gift from the universe and, though they're with us only a short time, they never really leave us. They are loyalty and love perfected, and once we are graced with that sort of love we can never lose it. We merely lose sight of it for a time, and that is our fault; for how can love like that ever go away? It can't. It can't, and it never will. For these brave souls trade their hearts for ours, and they beat together beyond sickness, beyond death. They are ours, and we are theirs, for every sunrise and every sunset, until the sun blazes its last and we once again join the stars. Author Unknown.

My mother passed from Alzheimers and dementia about 2 years ago... I took care of her the last 10 years of her life and know your struggles... She also had a 3 year old cat that she was worried about and now I have that cat to look after... I promised her that the cat would be taken care of... It's not an easy path you are following but you are a good person for doing it...
I've read way too many times in the news lately about how so many different kinds of pets have been getting very sick and dying from contaminated pet foods. In order to continue making huge profits while at the same time not having to pay to get rid of the unwanted meat parts (renderings?) which would otherwise have ended up in landfills, the pet food industry has ALWAYS lied to us when they told us that feeding pets the same meats that we eat is supposedly not good for them. I have even read many articles that informed us about the fact that they even put "roadkill" in pet food, and that the so-called high end pet food brands are just as bad as the discount brands.
I felt the same when I had to have my 19 year old cat put to sleep, I cried for days, and I still can't watch the videos I have of her 11 years later because it upsets me still. Sorry for your loss, it's so heartbreaking losing a beloved pet.

They have all been cremated and put into their pretty little wooden boxes, all home with me except my last one, I have to bring her home in her little pretty wooden box from the animal hospital to be with me.

Still think about her even now. 7 yrs ago i adopted 2 dying kittens i found on the street and took them home and fed them back to health. They are still with me today and i love them Very much. A poster here said that the pain we feel at their death is the price we pay 4 loving them and no matter how long they are with us, it's never long enough....no truer words were ever said about our 4 legged family members and no truer feelings were ever felt.
i had a cat identical to yours. i, too, never thought i could love a cat like him. he was such an old soul. i worked at a humane society and he was there. i tried and tried to give him to different homes, but nothing ever worked. the last home had cat allergies and had to give him back. he'd call (scream) all day til i'd come and pick him up, so i just adopted him...he adopted us. he knew what home he was supposed to go to. thank you for the memories.

I felt that way for a long time after I lost my dog. That decision to end their pain is devastating. Vowed never again. My husband said “never again”. It was about a year later that I had a dream about my little dog telling me I had too much love to give to another dog to not try again. Granddaughter came home from school, with a dog. We got so quickly attached, he’s not her dog anymore. He’s co-pilot in the truck, goes everywhere with us. A door closed, a window will open. Keep your heart open, too.

Don't wait too long to get another one-so many shelters full of so many loving cats! *you'll know when you see the right one. Because the fastest way to get something back you've lost is to replace it!!

Bubba is in Heaven playing VERY happily with other cats! 😇🐱

100% - they'll never screw you over.
They'll bring joys to us

Life is not meant to be fun and easy, we are here to learn as much as possible Cats -- they're not animals, they are cat-people
Rootless Wanders, I spent 23 wonderful years in constant fear of one day losing my cat Tiggy.
A true animal lover
Well said.

If you give him love, he will give it back to you.

I felt that way for a long time after I lost my dog. That decision to end their pain is devastating. Vowed never again. My husband said “never again”. I know the pain. I'm so sorry. He was a beautiful cat.
oh, my condolences... i am crying just watching this. my cat is right here next to me sleeping, and she reminds me so much of your little friend.
my dog of almost 16 years passed away in november and it is still one of the most painful moments in my life thus far. it is the worst seeing your baby deteriorate knowing there isn’t much you can do. i miss the smell of my girl’s fur, her little pitter pattering paws in the kitchen speeding up when we cooked, the sounds of her snores and her silly grunts in her sleep like a tiny grandma... the pain truly never goes away, but just know bubba is at peace now, and he knew you loved him dearly. rest in peace, sweet bubba!!! you will reunite with your master again someday, but enjoy the rainbow bridge with all your new animal angel friends for now :)
thank you ivanka! much love to you my friend, I'm so sorry for your loss as well
A touching story of love and friendship. I need say no more.
What a beautiful testament to your furry family member, Bubba. He knows he was truly loved. I'm happy to hear that you are able to open your heart and mind to the love of a cat after a less than desirable experience as a child. I've been in your shoes and had to make the agonizing decision to put my beautiful kitty, Savannah down 12 years ago. It still makes me cry ro think of it. May we all experience the truest form of unconditional love, that love we receive from a pet. Thank you for sharing your story of Bubba.
thank you my friend!! sending you so much love
I am so sorry that Bubba died.it takes a piece of a person's heart when they do.hopefully your happy memories of Bubba's love will be some comfort to you.
