I got my dog from a rescue. He came from an Amish puppy mill. They gave him up because "He was too big for his breed." And they couldn't sell him. I, like everyone I talk to, found that shocking. We think of them as very caring people, but it seems that animal cruelty can be part of their culture.
Those poor animals raised to become food, go through unthinkable pain and suffering. They are tortured, left to live in disgusting and inhumane conditions. To be fair, pigs have very poor eyesight to begin with. They navigate mostly by smell in the best of circumstances, so losing their eyesight doesn't really slow them down. Still, it was very cruel to leave her stuck in a dark stall for so long. I'm happy she gets to run around as she pleases now.
Sadly the meat industry is like this with all animals. Hence why people should try a plant based diet so animals are no longer abused like this 😢 her babies were bred for meat while she was stuck in a dark cage for 10 years without grass and fresh air. Disgraceful.

I have two wonderful dogs right now, and from a very young age I had all kinds of animals as pets and loved them all. A women had a heart attack all alone. Her pet pig saw her mum was in pain so squeezed thru cat flap, ran out in the rd squealing. She ran back to lady & back out for help. No'one helped. Then this amazing creature laid in middle of rd so cars had to stop. In the end a man followed her back to dying women & phn ambulance. Women couldn't believe her pet pig did all that and out of love.
If it's any consolation, pigs have pretty poor eyesight to begin with. They navigate primarily by hearing and their incredible sense of smell. If she can distinguish between light and shadow she's probably good to go.

He could have turned her into bacon.. would it have really mattered? The world would have gone on, the pig wouldn't have known the difference. While this has the outward appearance of being altruistic, in reality it's nothing more than human's selfish need to feel "needed", like they've done something "special". Like they've saved this poor pigs life! It's kind of a god complex if you ask me. He did it more for his own selfish needs to feel virtuous than anything else, because at the end of the day..how much of a "difference" did it really make? Did it change the world for the better some how? Nope, not really. It might have made ONE pig's miserable life a little less miserable, but did it make the pig stop and think, "Gee, Humans really ARE good inside! When I lived in Spain one of my family got a piglet as a gift and these creatures are so much like dogs it weird when you see it in real life, they can be playful and let you know how they're feeling , really intelligent he would run up to you like a dog does jumping around all happy so this little lady must have had a really bad time, well done for helping and getting back her trust not a easy feat 👍👍

Approx. 71% of the land is considered habitable, and half of that land is used for agriculture. Of that 50%, 77% is used for livestock, either as land for grazing or land to grow animal feed. It varies per product, but on average you need 4 calories of plant food to make 1 calorie of animal product. Another crazy number to think about: The biomass of all landliving mammals goes like this: 36% humans, 60% human bred animals, 4% wildlife I find these numbers mind boggling. An interesting read is the paper from the United Nations (FAO): "Livestock's Long Shadow" Cheers!

There is absolutely no excuse for abusing any animal, leaving her in darkness for so long her eyes stopped functioning is unforgivably cruel. She was used for breeding, so she conceived in total darkness, gave birth to piglets she never saw but probably nursed them, her babies were all taken leaving her alone in the dark until the process of breeding began again. I’m just happy that she is content and safe now.
A good friend of mine grew up on a hog farm in Iowa and she had pigs as pets. She said they are very intelligent and have emotions and cry just like humans. It's great this pig was saved by a good man! Great job! 🙂👍

yeah totally agree! I would stop all animal agriculture and rescue them all today if I could. There is not a single day that goes by where I don´t think about those poor objectified souls that suffer. My heart breaks to see how this baby was tortured. I rescued a dog that didn't trust people and had been abused. It took me 18 months to be able to get a collar on him. Suddenly when I pulled the collar out, he asked me to put it on him. I'm so happy to see Princess has a loving life now! What a wonderful story!

To be fair, pigs have very poor eyesight to begin with. They navigate mostly by smell in the best of circumstances, so losing their eyesight doesn't really slow them down.
Still, it was very cruel to leave her stuck in a dark stall for so long. I'm happy she gets to run around as she pleases now.

While this has the outward appearance of being altruistic, in reality it's nothing more than human's selfish need to feel "needed", like they've done something "special". Like they've saved this poor pigs life! It's kind of a god complex if you ask me. He did it more for his own selfish needs to feel virtuous than anything else, because at the end of the day..how much of a "difference" did it really make? Did it change the world for the better some how? Nope, not really. It might have made ONE pig's miserable life a little less miserable, but did it make the pig stop and think, "Gee, Humans really ARE good inside! I'm going to spread the word, and tell all the other pigs around the world to stop climate change!" Again.. Nope.. completely useless. The pig will never go on to cure cancer, it won't fix the worlds homeless problem.. About the BEST thing that pig could have possibly done would have been to allow itself to be slaughtered for pork, at least this way it could have potentially fed a hungry child and kept them from succumbing to starvation, and in turn that child could have gone on to solve one of humanities real problems! Perhaps by saving that pig, that child WILL die of hunger, and cancer never WILL get cured. Thanks a lot O.P. Your selfish needs caused millions of people to die of cancer!

@@mstash164 Pigs only exist because farmers breed them for meat get over yourself, ive never met a farmer that didnt love his animals, yes we eat them but there is no reason not to treat them with love and respect while they are alive but then id never expect a tree hugging vegan to understand that. Did you know farmers have to kill millions of creatures every year to grow vegan crops , so next time you go lecturing meat eaters do your research and see exactly what happens to grow your vegan crops .

I had one that was hit in the head by someone with a stick trying to kill it, right outside my house, he was a little weak but I looked after him best I could. Came home from town one day and three other males had him in the ditch, they had pecked him to death. Grow up dude, in the animal world it's kill or be killed

There is absolutely no excuse for abusing any animal, leaving her in darkness for so long her eyes stopped functioning is unforgivably cruel. She was used for breeding, so she conceived in total darkness, gave birth to piglets she never saw but probably nursed them, her babies were all taken leaving her alone in the dark until the process of breeding began again. I’m just happy that she is content and safe now.

A good friend of mine grew up on a hog farm in Iowa and she had pigs as pets. She said they are very intelligent and have emotions and cry just like humans. It's great this pig was saved by a good man! Great job! 🙂👍

yeah totally agree! I would stop all animal agriculture and rescue them all today if I could. There is not a single day that goes by where I don´t think about those poor objectified souls that suffer. But I don´t support it anymore and are actively talking about animal rights with people everyday, that helps. :)

I m in to lifting weights but I left eating chickens long time ago when I had seen on my own how they r being slaughtered just because I could eat them, these chickens were in so much pain because of me. In reality, almost farm animals are treated rather well up until the time they are humanely slaughtered. Although the process appears gruesome to outsiders, a quick death is never a pretty death.

We saved a chicken from being slaughtered, it could barely walk because of being caged for so many months. What I meant don't kill animals just because u could eat them. U have every right the way u want to live but I stopped eating animals because I think it is the right thing to do.

My heart breaks to see how this baby was tortured. I rescued a dog that didn't trust people and had been abused. It took me 18 months to be able to get a collar on him. Suddenly when I pulled the collar out, he asked me to put it on him. I'm so happy to see Princess has a loving life now! What a wonderful story!
