    It's always a good idea to be as thorough as possible in diagnostics.

      Better to be thorough then have to eat crow, or parts:(

    Oh wanted to say somethings hide behind others i.e. You fix one issue only to find another I think it's crucial to make customers aware of that. I think it's great you keep looking that comes from knowing the stuff you fix experience with products great vid

    • @flatratemaster
      @flatratemaster  7 років тому

      Like telling a customer after driving a car for 6 months with a misfire, after you fix the misfire they will get a P0420 code etc!

  • @dennissada7866
    @dennissada7866 7 років тому +1

    Yeah, know how this is. Can't get customers to fix important things, instead fix the noise not something that is a safety issue. When I used to service those 1.8 turbos, always used to get the service adviser to sell $20 of vacuum hose (worked in VW dealerships) because the crappy vacuum hoses would crack from the heat of the turbo eventually and cause the check engine light to come on.... never failed to come on between major services after the short warranty was up,. Enjoyed the video greatly.

    • @flatratemaster
      @flatratemaster  7 років тому

      LOL, as those 1.8s get older, everything breaks just looking at it:(

    I know this is a really old video, do you know where the line from the vacuum booster goes into the intake? ive been trying to figure this out.

    More case studies. Her dad sounds like mine. Electrical tape is cheap but plastic tubing. hoses and Ts are expensive. Better put some more tape on that.

    • @flatratemaster
      @flatratemaster  7 років тому +2

      Will do, That assembly is not easy to replace it goes from the vacuum pump all the way around to the brake booster and VW charges way to much for it, but I didn't build it, buy it or break it, I only fix it:)

    We get some of those guys too... they fix most of their stuff themselves and only bring it in for a diagnosis the odd time. I had one come back this week, a month after I fixed a misfire issue (plug wires). This time it was a bad fuel injector... took some time to make the customer understand that it's a completely different issue. Talking to customers requires skill... I couldn't do it every day.

    What was the Noise Flat Rate Master the Leaking Intake Snorkeling 😎

  • @notkevinfinnerty4959
    @notkevinfinnerty4959 7 років тому +1

    if misfires were from the vacuum leaks it would most likely be the whole bank or more than just 2 cylinders, you usually get multiple cylinder misfires.

    • @flatratemaster
      @flatratemaster  7 років тому

      It coded for those cylinders put was showing misfires on all cylinders, as the vacuum leak was central to the intake and affected all cylinders

    Flatrate Master do you always use Ross tech on the vw/audi that come in for you also which one is it? We use the hex-usb version.

    • @flatratemaster
      @flatratemaster  7 років тому

      Not always, sometimes Verus, sometimes Autel, sometimes Ross Tech easier to test drive with the handhelds over a laptop. We use the HEX usb too

    What is your opinion on older cars like chevy chevelle ss or ford gran torino? Should they bring them back?

    • @flatratemaster
      @flatratemaster  7 років тому

      I prefer new tech, but love the styling of those old cars, the issue with the relauch of those cars is they never look right:(

    • @StoneColdStrah
      @StoneColdStrah 7 років тому +1

      in my opinion i think ford and chevy will make a great come back if they bring those two cars back but it has to be great like older one, it has to feel good like the old school one with new school technology

    I only Install OE Type Spark Plugs. Not Necessarily From the Dealer. Like AC Delco 41- whatever Comes out It or it's Updated # going Back in. No Bosch or Autolite Here. I can't count How Many cars I Fixed by Throwing out the Latest Greatest Be all to End all Spark plug creations. & Going Back to Stock. I Believe They Design that Ignition System to Work with a Certain spark plug in a certain condition. We're Not Dealing with Carburetors & Points anymore

    • @flatratemaster
      @flatratemaster  7 років тому

      LOL, so have I, I have had those fancy plugs set Coil control codes just because it pissed off the feedback to the ecm

  • @strikeryachts
    @strikeryachts 7 років тому

    Why not one coil ?

    • @flatratemaster
      @flatratemaster  7 років тому

      +James Hall because they are cheap and fail often, customer can do the bad coils or all of them, it is up to them,but on these once 1 or 2 have failed the rest fail soon after in my experience

    A little custom cobentry anyone. They should get it fixed right then go from there. The misfire causing the shaking that caused exhaust to shake and make noise. Sad they did not fix it right

    • @flatratemaster
      @flatratemaster  7 років тому

      The exhaust still rattled after the repair of the misfire, bad designed aftermarket part. The really sad part is he sent his daughter away to college with all those band aids:(

    Man I love when we get cars in the shop and when we tell the customer what wrong with the vehicle and what it's gonna take to fix it and we get the good old oh my husband or father can do that he does all my repairs. Lol even better when u tell them hey your vehicle is out of alignment or tires balance is off and get the good old husband can do that lol. You wanna laugh in your head but can't

    • @moparmania86
      @moparmania86 7 років тому +1

      Haven't you heard of a bubble balancer and a drive way alignment?

    • @flatratemaster
      @flatratemaster  7 років тому +1

      The Sad Part is he already fixed those vacuum leaks, that you could hear. but it just needed a sensor

    • @royderouin7510
      @royderouin7510 4 роки тому
