  • To enhance the façade entrance on the street corner, we installed a Craftsman-style timber frame open porch. Natural stained wood framing was used for the beams, joinery, mortise, and tenon.
The exposed bead board on the interior ceiling of the porch entrance creates a dramatic contrast in the colors and materials and provides a historic feel using modern materials.
The Berks County, Pennsylvania private residence is a 6,839-square-foot new construction project of a two-story home with a basement. The design included aging-in-place solutions and accommodations for multiple guests that each had private bathrooms. Downstairs, the main entry allows for division between public and private spaces for work-at-home options and hosting small business meetings in the office space.
Firm President and Principal Scott Graham, AIA, LEED AP, BD + C, was the project lead. Scott Graham joined MG Architects in 2010, was named as a Principal in 2016, and is the firm’s current President. He has served as Lead Designer and Project Manager for many of the firm’s notable projects since 2010.
