Very cool, entertaining and interesting videos. Beautiful job of the woodwork on the porches. Definitely done that lovely old Douglas Fir justice. Looking forward to the next one. All the best!
My camp was a 1 story built 3-4 foot off the ground with whole trees cut on large rocks above ground all made with ruff cut doug fur almost 60 years ago and it is still rot free except 1 outside joist that had water damage. I would have coated the bottoms of the post to keep the water from rotting the base of the post or at the least heavy caulked around the steel post and the wood edges.
It’s too easy to be negative when commenting on UA-cam, that said, when pegging a joint the hole in the tenon should be offset. Not in line, then when the peg is hammered home, it tightens the joint.
So I’ve watched a few of your videos and just realized, what is holding the phone while you’re driving that tractor and lifting the forks? Are you one handing that like a boss?
No I did not let them dry. pick a nice tree and it should not twist as it will be locked in with mortice and tendon and will cure slow outside. put timber oil on it too.
Bondo, you are not only a good concrete contractor........you are actually a good carpenter as well.
Damn, you guys do nice work. No matter what you do!
Thanks Brian I appreciate the comment buddy. 😊
I would love to see this build all the way through. I really like the design.

Looks great! Did you decide not to include knee braces for a certain reason? I thought they strengthened the timber frame?

Draw boring 👍
Is it going to be done by first snow? Looks GREAT! It looks like Tuna was enjoying that long screwing haha......
Looks great! What pitch and rafter dimension did you use?
I honestly can't remember it was like 30 jobs ago. sorry

How do you know what size timbers to use .is their some kind of chart you can share .very nice job
There are charts for timber species on the internet. I went from past experience on this project then went 2" taller just in case.
Getting ready to do a porch here in New Mexico with similar spans did you let your timbers dry at all or worried about twisting ?
No I did not let them dry. pick a nice tree and it should not twist as it will be locked in with mortice and tendon and will cure slow outside. put timber oil on it too.
I wasnt paying attention....but did you saw cut the concrete porches?
Looking good did you cut the timber’s for your aunts house where you poured the slab ?
Couple staples on the ice gard goes long way I lean the hard way
Yup next time we will. LOL
Hope all is well haven’t seen you in a while
Where is this house located?
Mexico New York
@@bondobuilt386 any Mexicans there? Lol
@@kennethhudson8013 lol 😂
Has the neighbor calmed down yet?
He don't talk to me. Lol
It is pretty, but I don't like how you set wood posts on concrete
We put a rubber membrane between the wood and concrete. 👍
@@bondobuilt386 I can not argue with that after all you have more experience
It's nice I just don't like slab houses
It's not a slab house it's on a crawl space. Porches are on slabs.
WHERE IS MY BONDO?
Sorry uncle Jim I been off hunting. I'm back buddy
crawl out the window to do some naked sun bathing
