You mean talks so much spin, no pun intended. Let's be honest, this is a marketing promo. I'm not saying it's bad, but that IS what it is. The Stealth irons looks every bit like a rip-off of the Ping G425 irons, but with more aggressive lofts to make people falsely believe they're longer or 'better'.
I did have a chance to test the stealth irons recently. I was also hitting a competitor in the same class of iron and right away the look of the stealth was far superior. The feel was amazing and it didn’t click on contact. Highly recommend!
I went for a full bag fitting and was fitted into the P790's with the stock DG S300 shaft. Perfect, I was able to grab them at the PGA Superstore vs. having to custom order from TM. So far, I love them!
The Stealth sounds far more “clicky”. And while it is all dependent on the golfer, if you are a mid to high handicapper that intends to improve their game, the P790 would be the better option IMO. You can grow with them and they have a better potential of staying in the bag longer than the Stealth which is more suited for beginner to higher handicappers that need as much forgiveness and distance as possible.
I'm sold already, I have the 2021 P.790 and the 2019 P.790...huge different feel and forgiveness. I've try and play other brand in the past, but only TaylorMade give you that option of their P.7 Series irons and their other irons as well. The P.790 iron are more like cut through not duffy. They're amazing iron to have.
Yes and no. I agree with this but for someone who is coming from something like BB21 or Sim Max as an example, and the golfer wants to take the next step to something less “chunky” then the stealth would most likely be a better fit rather than jumping to P790 which is a much larger difference. To each their own though!
I started with the original P790s and played them for a couple of years. Then I upgraded to the 2021 version. For me, they're great and do everything I need them to do. Tried the stealth, but just don't like the look of them.
I really get a lot out of these videos being someone who’s openly novice to the plethora of knowledge there is to be learned about the “simple” game of golf. Chris does his job well, giving you the truth about products, the physics of swinging a club. It’s usually more of a training video than just to sell TM product. But I’m sure it does both and I’ll be here to watch especially to see the golfing shoes I wish I had… those 4s are crispy!!
The stealth irons are legit awesome. First game improvement iron I know of that doesn’t look or feel like a snow shovel. You could play them forever if you want. Awesome straight towering distance
After switching from cast irons to forged about 15 years ago, I can't go back. As many improvements that have gone into cast heads, nothing compares to forged for me. The feel is so much better. P790s all day.
Great video. I bought the P-790s when they first came out & haven’t looked back. May pick up a set of the Stealth though, because the overall feel and forgiveness in the Stealth was amazing to me.
790 is the best club I’ve ever played. For a mid handicap player it just doesn’t get better. I was on the fence about taking the P770s But I’ll take the extra forgiveness
I'm a 10HCP was really thinking about the 790's. I still play my Burner 2.0's from 2012 and hit them well, but they go too high and too far to be honest. I want to start shaping shots more and get lower trajectory but more consistent. If I push one right now for instance, I push it right but still long which can be worse..
Thought he was all talk in the vids until I seen this. Class swing and js. I have p790 blacks and they are so good. Got them after my first 6months playing and grew into them nicely. Had sim max before can tell the drop of in yardage slightly but the feel of the p790 when you true them is sensational!
I am 1 handicap, however, I loved the look and forgiveness of the P790, but I couldn't play them. The problem was, inconsistent with my yardages. 7 iron for example, I hit 180, and sometimes jumped to 200yds or pw for example, hit 150 and sometimes jumped to 170? Love the forgiveness and looks, but I need to hit my number and it was IM PO SSI BLE!!!
Trottie boy! love ya my friend, but toss that particular green button-up in the waste bin!😂 It's not doing much for your physique or golf attire. Admittedly I'm conscious of these things also, as you and I both are not as tall as we'd like to be- I'm sure not... Luckily I'm just making a light-hearted comment and the message of this video came through nonetheless! Thx Plyr
That extra 2° of loft gives it more distance and less spin. I’ve noticed the same with my Stealth Irons (28° stock loft) vs my R7 CGB Max (30° stock loft)
190+ 7 iron! Holy cow. I’m averaging around 155-165 with my stealth 7 and I thought that was good 😂 love my stealths and they definitely have helped my game. More green in reg and straighter shots. Have shaved off quite a few strokes off me HC
I got fitted for a set of stealths, and they just came in yesterday. Today I got to play and it was terrible. Shanks, slice, thins, fat.. I did it all. It's like I forgot how to play! To be honest, that's my normal play style, but it goes to show that new fancy clubs won't fix a bad form... With that said, I absolutely love my stealths, and highly recommend them. Just don't be thinking it'll make you look like the blokes on the telly
I do find my p790s go too far. Love the feel out the middle. I do look to change some clubs regularly but I cannot fault TM. Best drivers in the game for me.
Absolutely clueless comment. Hit an 18 degree 5 wood and then a 1 iron blade and tell me loft is all that matters. The reason they can turn down the lofts is the tech. It's the carbon, the foam, the shape, all designed to pull CG back and make a 30 degree 7 iron as easy to hit as a 36 degree 7 blade. It's not just loft. And for those golfers who drive it 220 yards, this type of tech is a life changer. Sorry they all dont stripe 1 irons and 5 woods the same like you tell people you do online
I want to see a test using one of those golf robot’s. Put in a low loft 7 iron like these up against other iron’s of the same loft no matter the number they put on the club, then show me the difference. I can stamp the #7 on a 13 degree iron and call it the longest 7 iron ever, but nobody could hit it well. lol
Every single brand has the same. TM stealth - Callaway Apex dcb - Titliest t300 - Cobra king LTD All there 7 irons loft is around 26-29 🤷🏻♂️ that’s the type of irons they provide for the 20 plus handicap or maybe someone who doesn’t want to hurt there body at the end of an 18 hole round. This type of category is what makes golf abit easier for new golfers to get into the sport.
I have TaylorMade stealth iron set along with the stealth driver... They are not as forgiving as their predecessor, but the performance and the accuracy are significantly better... I think that stealth is designed for mid handicap golfer... Stealth might not be suitable for high handicappers... Maybe that's why TaylorMade released stealth 2 series which they claim as "fargiveness" golf club, (forgiving yet still have good performance, or is it?)..
hello, I am handicap 10 do you think this iron will suit me I am 52 years old I have a moderate speed swing, I am looking for an easy to play series, with a gain in distance. Last question the lofts being lower the apex is it not too low, and given the orientation of the face the trajectories do not pull too much to the left? thank you
Should we care about consistent distance over just distance? My x14s aren’t long but I can’t remember ever hitting one shot 10 yards longer with the same club unless I just rip it way harder.
Please help me Sir, what is that app you are using on that phone next to your shots to track ball stats- OR is that a separate device and not a phone that is tracking ball stats? What is that device or phone app please??
I’m guessing the 240 yard 4 irons he’s hitting would only go 190 on a cold day in the uk. These launch monitors always seem to give you a lot more yardage
i'm new to golf and love this guys articulation so easy to follow, Thanks. Can someone help me with a question what app is he using on his phone to get all this data ?
Would love to see a 20 handicapper hit both..and see the results As 20 handicap myself I will be going for fitting in the next month and putting these 2 head to head
Super jacked lofts… why the hell would you want your 7 iron to go 195?? Just makes the shorter game harder to become more difficult to manage, bet the PW is 42/43 degrees so you’d need 4/5 wedges ????
Make a Stealth Pro model with low offset and weaker lofts and you'd change the game. The game improvement tech here is phenomenal and they look great. But offset is unnecessary and the lofts are jacked up to the point of needing 2 additional wedges out of set.
They keep be taking advantage of people not knowing anything about lofts. People think hitting their 7 iron farther but the loft is just the same as a 6 iron.
@@AmetricGaming yes and no. The clubs are stronger and thats not good, but its not just loft. If it was just loft, the clubs would be harder to hit. An 18 degree 5 wood is easier to hit than a 1 iron cause of the CG and weighting, despite the lofts being identical. I do think that if they removed offset, which is totally unnecessary, and lofted them up a bit, theyd sell a lot more of these to people. All theyre doing is making people add a 3rd and 4th wedge, which isnt player friendly from 120 out to be hitting full wedge shot.
If you’re good enough to have your distances that dialed it seems to me like you’d be good enough to use the P790. Forgiveness is great until you don’t need it any more. What benefit would stealth irons give you over the P790 if you made those changes?
I had the Sim2 OS irons when I was first starting for high forgiveness (I’ve only been playing a year). But it was harder to shape shots. I went to the p790s. They are harder to hit but felt like as my game improved they were clubs that I could really grow with.
This guy talks 13 mins non stop and he knows what he is talking about. I would go buy a set of Stealth straight away if I don’t already own a set of P790.
If you're adding loft, I could see the stealth getting you back to a better dynamic loft at impact because they are so strong lofted. Similarly Rahm has the opposite problem. He delivers too little of loft at impact so all of his irons have added loft. Ideally it's about launch, spin, and descent angle which generate distance and consistency. The differences in clubs allow different delivery patterns to become more consistent. At the end of the day, try as much as you can and trust your fitter!
Exactly. That's how these manufacturers claim longer distance with their new irons, they just crank down the loft. A traditional PW used to be 48 degrees, the Stealth PW is 43 degrees.
@@speeddemon0712 they have done a video on why they do this. If they made the Stealth PW the same loft as their players irons. The Stealth PW would go way too high.
Already got my stealth’s got then bent up a degree so the lofts are not as strong as I have a habit of swinging to hard sometimes and didn’t want to have insane yardages
Performance is performance. However, when you say an increase in 10mph as 'performance', people also need to know this 7 IRON is actually a 6 iron because of the degree of the iron head. And it's getting even more RIDICULOUS to where they are closer to a 5 iron but stamped a 7 IRON. TaylorMade marketing at is finest.
Nope. You don’t understand how they are engineered. Moving the weight at the bottom increases the spin. If they didn’t adjust the lofts to compensate the balls would balloon to the moon
Again, the camera work was horrible. They didn’t zoom in when you were talking about certain parts of the irons or it was blurry. I have noticed this in multiple videos now.
