The thing I wanted to hear or read. This situation has became a thing that is a MAJOR MAJOR PROBLEM especially when it comes to d1ckheads that had gotten hold of the power on their palms just to abuse it so that others can suffer meanwhile their butts be sitting on ridiculous amounts of unnecessary salaries.

There are few things to make this possible
    1. He owns the shoplot so he don't have to pay for rental
    2. He works alone / help by family members/ few workers only
    3. He has the volume of customer to support the overall profit margin (薄利多销 since Mr Money TV can speak mandarin)
Any 1 from these 3 is absent, i think this guy is suffering. So he really deserve a respect to help the people around.
Again, I really hates when the price increase 1kg about RM2 and the hawkers increase each plate by RM2.
Just had my "Sang Yuk Mee" this morning in KK and it costs me RM12. Which was RM8.5 few months back then.

In my place Seremban.. you still can get Rm5 or Rm5.50 per plate chicken rice.. but you have to paid Rm6 - Rm8 for a bowl of noodles or mix rice.. For example.. one food court nearby my house sells Western food like spaghetti.. this spaghetti price was Rm10.90 last year.. then increase to Rm12.90 after CNY & recently increase again to Rm14.90.. so eat chicken rice looks like more cheap..

Well, my idea is to use abandon government building that have huge land to raise chicken.. the government set the price.. they raise it and sell it.. using the profit money to pay for salary.. and also use that land create greenhouse so we can create corn, wheat in it.. if someone can grow and store some vegetables in cold area.. there's no reason we can't.. also we have to change our electric production to nuclear power instead of coal..

Why aren't we planting corn to be used chicken feed? Currently the little corn that is being grown in Malaysia is for human consumption. I really don't understand it? If we plant more areas with corn, we don't have to rely on chicken feed from overseas.

Let's have this in the proper perspective:
    1) Affordable Price: if you sell RM5.00 per plate of chicken rice, with RM2 margin... then you might be able to sell 200 plates per day. That gives you RM400 margin per day.
    2) High Price: If you sell that same plate of rice at RM10, with RM7 margin, then you might be able to sell only 30 plates per day. That gives you RM210 margin per day.
Yes, of course it's a much harder work for the owner to sell 200 plates a day but raising price is not the only option. You get more business at the end, the total margin is still more than if you blatantly increase your price and have your loyal customers run away.

While most understand the hawkers have their income worries.....well, it is all about the market here in Malaysia end of the day..........
Customers will make you survive and keep your shop running. If we feel the prices are getting higher than the past years & not justified, we also cannot like help2 the uncle aunty forever. The fact now the mentality here in Msia (esp. KL) is 'every man for himself'....most of us here rather have hawkers regret raising prices than supporting them.....
Of course, I am not saying I practice this kaw2, I don't mind supporting the locals over the big franchise whenever I can. I will spend more where I can. But reality with the rest is with our buying power soo crap, most cannot compromise anymore....

  • @marktan8074

    1. The govt stipulated a salary increase of 25% this May. Those workers who think they deserve this pay increase, please also bear in mind likewise the workers at the chicken farm, the worker at the chicken feed company, the worker at the slaughterhouse and lastly the worker managing the chicken rice stall too. Bosses worry less; all they need to do is to pass on this cost downstream.
    2. With this in mind, the only way to avoid paying too much is voting with your wallet. If people think alike and avoid certain stalls that are priced too high, and reward instead those who keep prices lower, then we can all minimise the price increases.
    3. The govt is not blameless either. The ringgit has been one of the worse performing currencies in this crisis resulting in more expensive imports. Furthermore, has no one ever thought of growing their own corn feedstock instead of relying purely on imports? Msia is after all an agricultural economy too isn't it?

Should small business owners increase prices on the basis to protect their margin, they will eventually feel the pinch over the next 2-3 years when they themselves purchase goods / services from other businesses, as they too are tempted to keep up with market adjustment. What goes around, comes around - hence, inflation is a by-product of men

Did you know inflation original meaning is a sharp increase in the supply of money? Somebody later changed it to an increase of price levels. Yeah that's right, inflation is caused by govt because they think it is up to them to control the supply of money. This wouldn't happen if we use real money like gold or silver or at least have our currency which is the paper money being backed by gold or silver. By changing the meaning of inflation, they change the perception of what caused the real increase of prices. If the money (should be called currency, coz we don't use real money but let's just accept it is money for now) supply keep flooding the market, of course prices will increase so that supply of good and services can keep up. This has to make sense because businesses do not simply raise prices as they are in competition with each other. Sure, sometimes supply and demand issues like what is happening due to the Ukraine war can affect prices and those are genuine forces that affect prices. But prices have been increasing like forever and supposedly we need inflation to stimulate the economy but I call bs. U can't keep a lid on inflation coz prices are meant to be made lower not higher. It is the natural progression of an economy. If the inflation target of 2% is really a good economic policy, why wages or salary does not keep up?? Wouldn't it better if there is no inflation? I would rather earn much less but I can buy my own house without a mortgage.

I think you got it wrong. It is because of the US sanctions on Russia exports where US forced many of its allies to not accept imports such as corn and wheat from Russia. At the same time, Russia is also doubting to export goods to overseas as there are trust issue among many overseas countries that are caused by US influence.
So basically, US is the culprit. When we entertain the US affairs we suffer.
