Nice! I have a 2016 version and just this week I had to get a new cord for it and re solder the shielding wire since I jacked up the cable lol.

I got mine today, I`m using it to write this :) I love the sound, the backlighting and the anit ghosting :) I have improved my game by buying this, I used to use a cheapy key board and it was terrible. Now having this.... I just love it! :)

I know no one's gonna read this but I gotta say, I found this keyboard online for cheap cuz it was "broken" (in fact, it needed just some cleaning) and i googled it and found this video, just because Linus reviewed it like a lifetime ago, I decided to buy it, clean it and now use it, hahahahahaha, hello old-school UA-cam :D
He is referring tot he switch that is being used. Mechanical keyboards have switches for the keys, each switch is identified by a color, black, blue, red, brown, etc... and each one has it's own actuation point. Others are quieter, blues are among the loudest.

Just got mine about an hour ago...I fucking love this thing. I don't understand why this sound makes me so happy, but it does. It also makes you feel like your some insane computer hacker. My g/f hates me though because the sound of the keys....Too bad I

I have not had the best experience in recent years with Razer products but I do own this keyboard, and they are extremely well constructed and thought out. The extra keys are extremely useful for both gaming and work/productivity. Honestly, if you are looking for a single keyboard for your computer, you really should get this board.

I have the 2014 version and it's the same way :/ not too bad though. Ali plugged in my headset and just put up the rubber feet and had the cords go underneath the keyboard to the other side.

The Blackwidow uses "blue cherry keys" which is one specific set of mechanical keys. There is different mehcanical keys, and they are listed in colors. So they all feel different, and sound different.

Ports on right side of keyboard... bad choise, most of the time mouse is right next to the keyboard so now you got cords in the way.

linus the coating does the exact opposite of what you said, it shows the smallest specs of dirt and greese, but it looks really badass
Depends on how thick your door is, how far away your family members are from your room, and how hard you press the keys. It shouldn't be too much of a problem, but it really varies on your environment. If you really want this keyboard, I would keep a old generic one, and switch it over once it's night time. I do this with my blackwidow and Steelseries 6gv2.
Bought this in 2013 and I'm still using it today. Great keyboard IMO.

dude, logitech with there tiny little wireless receivers for their wireless mice, perfect for that usb passthru!
Regarding the "click" sound, Im using some O-ring Dampeners (Max Keyboard Cherry MX Rubber O-Ring Switch Dampeners 50A - Black) and they are working really well.
Also, this keyboard can be used with a wireless mouse connected to the usb. Works great.

***** because razer is using shitty-ass chinese switches in their newest models. thus, the keyboards tend to be less money-effecient and generally trash af. i bought the corsair k70 though. it's amazing, you should buy it as well.

yea, but multi color lighting is not available on cherry mx.... But wait corsair and cherry announced the cherry mx rgb. :)
The 2013 ultimate is only green. It worked out great for me since I have a Gigabyte G1 Sniper 3 and went with a green themed PC build. Its a very cool green as well.

I think you should re-review this. You never took it apart to show the shitty underbelly of this particular model's design flaws, the biggest of which is that you can't separate the switch board parts to clean them without very specific tools. the boards are practically riveted together. you get any liquid in this thing, you're screwed, because you can't separate the parts to properly clean them and remove any residue that may be conductive and causing issues like keys making multiple contacts in a single press, (So you gget ppprobleeeems llike the kkey-ppppressessss dddoinggg ttthingsss llllllike tttthiss over time). Please re-review this old tech and give it the shakedown it deserves.

ill help you! you plug in your 2 usb ports into your laptop/pc. then you plug in your 2 audio and microphone jacks. i believe the audio one is green and the microphone one is pink. hope this helps!
I've been using this board for over 6 months and it is the hands down best keyboard I've ever used. Really solid feel, perfect function, dripping with quality, totally love it. Bought this board because my old board couldn't keep up with my typing speed. This one delivers the goods, big time. Might be nice in blue or red backlighting, but the green is also gorgeous.

I would get the Razer Black Widow Ultimate 2013, it's great, it's very strong and i haven't had any problems with it, personally i love the sounds of the keys being clicked as i type this to you, it's a personal favorite

My keyboard is still going strong! Such build quality, much wow. Even survived an orange juice spill (not smooth) and full disassemble required for cleaning. Its a tank of a keyboard

I like this keyboard because the font used reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

i dont know much about keyboards, but he is referring to the types of mechanical key switches, some r louder and some r softer, some r better for typing and others for other things :P
Here's an honest review of the keyboard. I upgraded from a crappy old membrane keyboard and i bought this one from eBay for about £40. It took me while to get used to the layout of the keyboard because it's quite different to how a normal keyboard would be, for example the 'a' key is quite close to the 'caps lock' key and when i first used this for about 4 hours, I found myself accidentally clicking it. But that was very minor and probably my own fault. Another problem I found was the keys and how small they feel. This yet again is probably my own fault because of me using the membrane keyboard which had wider key caps. But apart from those two minor things this keyboard is perfect! It will just take a while to get used to if you have never used a mechanical keyboard before.

Edit; Try the corsair k90, its about £100 but you might be able to get it cheaper somewhere else, its a really nice keyboard and it uses reds.

Depends on your choice of looks. Their both great keyboards and the corsair K95 certainly wont disappoint you. If you like great software and response time with even greater game features i would honestly recommend the Razer black widow ultimate 2013. But if you want a great quality keyboard to just play games and type allot i would go with the Corsair K95. Also the razers have green and the K95 have blue LEDS. Also, the razer one doesnt have a wrist wrest so that's something to consider.
For a gaming spesific keyboard with reds I really dont know what to suggest, there are keyboards like the KBT pure 60% and the poker 2 and such that allow you to choose the switches, but are normally much harder to find.
That would be quite impossible, the leds are just white, the background is what makes the color. But yeah, would be cool though ahah

the only razer products that break fast are the wired headsets their keyboards especially the blackwidow is very sturdy; keys are tested for 5.000.000 clicks invdividually; their mouses are debateable but the naga and deathadder are great gaming mice
Go google Mx switches, there's alot of different keys and they have different stuff that makes them good or bad, Mostly personal preff
Upgrading to the Blackwidow Ultimate X soon! Had that keyboard for 3 years.

I recently picked up one of these at a thrift shop for $13. I wish it had RGB LEDs. But that's by no means a deal breaker; especially given the price. I love the macro keys. Very handy for GIMP.
He is a professional unboxer, so companies do provide for free to them once in awhile. He does make his living off this, so yeah
after using lycosa for 2 years, once i change to this keyboard, i'm so not use to the button is to big for me, but overall it's a good keyboard after i get use to the big button thingy!
Not having rubber is part of the point of mechanical keyboards, I think. That's part of what makes one.

It has to do with your overall color scheme. I have a liquid cooled computer with UV blue tubes and all of the 2013 Razer products are green so they do not match my tubes but that is fine with me I got over it. But if they came in blue or were full color like some of their other products are (dont know why some are and others arnt) than they would be blue for me.
I am currently typing on this keyboard, and I am returning it and will be getting the Corsair Vengence K95 when it is released at the end of May. When you make an expensive investment into something you expect it to last at least as long as the warranty, well this keyboard hasn't, it has a very minor but in my opinion very important issue at hand, the matte black finish that is presented throughout wears off very easily... Within a month of use it barley looks the same. It is annoying!

Not sure about getting this keyboard.. Razer's products are pretty much like gambling personally. It either can last long enough or break in a few months. Overall they got pretty cool products
i think its the mechanic thing cause under a key theres the switch and there are different ones that are different colored
i still have this keyboard that i bought back in 2013. it's January 2019, and it is still holding up just fine. However cleaning this keyboard is a pain in the ass, other than that i still am enjoying it.
