This keyboard really catches my eye. It has many unique features that sets it apart from other generic gaming mechanical keyboards. Gamdias does have a chance!
we need more gaming company's, im willing to buy this just to support these guys they have done a great job on the keyboard tried it at a friends place i must say im impressed :)
In my opinion the Gamdias Hermes is hands down the best gaming keyboard. You want macro keys? Have them! You want shorter blues like Razer's new switch? Have it! You don't want shorter blues? Ok just remove the mod! You come from a laptop and you want a big palm rest? Have it! You dont come from a laptop and you dont want a palm rest? Ok no problem! You don't want to share your food with the keyboard? No problem - got a cover for that! The layout is perfect, you have passthroughs but what doesnt have them these days ... Good quality plastic, backlight but what doesnt have backlight at this price range. All in all this is the most customizable keyboard out there until we get RGB lighting (excluding CM Aluminium with the removable/customizable plate and the ugly handle on the side >.
Not to be a nerd or anything, but I love the "Greek God" themed gaming appliances, it gives a bold name to the gaming community and won't be forgotten. I've tried out their mice and seem a bit over-souped, but the keyboard I amazing, I have customization to keys to be near-silent for late night gaming, and louder keys for mid-day, or when I'm just trying to show off to my friends. Now, I haven't tried the headsets, but they must also be real kick-ass. Great products from Gamdias, hope to see them grow even more!!!
B_A_FPS i had it it got R.I.P.P.E.D by me.The reason - I was playing a game and the keys started to come of and the backlit led light also.... I thought i had got a defective product..
Thanks for clarifying that God. Red is for people who play games (like you said and Blues are for people who like to type (just like you said)! Glad I found you again. Love your guidance.
With shorter switches, my guess is that it was designed for quicker response times. It's really cool that they give you the option to use it or remove it. Nice.
I think they have a chance. I just looked at their site, and one or two items stood out to me. I definately think this is a company worth giving a try, but over time for me I think. I am still a hardcore Logitech fan, have been for years. I feel kinda treasonous to be using a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 right now. But I have a G930 and G700s (Replacing an M510...which is a FANTASTIC mouse btw).
Matthew Abban I'm a huge logitech fan when it comes to there mice. Im using the g900 chaos spectrum. And I personally think there isn't another mouse that competes with It. I wanted the Lancehead from razer but it has a Lazer sensor. But I can't get behind logitechs keyboards though I've tried them but I just can't.
Really great keyboard! I was given one as a birthday gift about two years back and it really exceeded all expectations. Really good quality and very customizable.
Just got my Hermes keyboard in today and so far I'm in love with it. Thank you for doing a review on this so I knew about it, I got the last one from NCIX until the next order of them
Macro keys are great for games when setting up shortcuts or mapping buttons. So instead of mapping game functions all over the letter keys on the keyboard, the macro keys are there to free up a bit of space, and provide extra options. To give a more solid example, say you have an FPS game with many different voice chat channels that can be used. Instead of putting the shortcuts for those channels on the letter keys, you can map them to the macro keys for ease of access. Hope I explained it well.

I cant argue with some things such as the macro keys underneath the spacebar and the ones around the arrow keys. You also call the Razer switches shitty when they are essentially the same due to them copying the blues and browns as well as they could because of the Cherry MX patent expired, in hating on the switches you are essentially hating on a copy, that would be like a teaches saying that one kids work is shit when they copied another student who got full marks just because the other ones work was a copy. After considering the switches you need to realise that even though they may not offer the best features on the keyboard I and other people I know that like the product like it for things like its software, not other companies that I know offer ways to monitor what keys you are pressing in what games, macro recording which is such an easy and smooth process and a few other things in the software. Yes I admit that this has some things that are better than the Blackwidow but it doesn't mean that you have to hate on it for no justified reason without really knowing what the quality of the product is like, and if you have used the product then ok that is your opinion but most people that make shitposts like that haven't really experienced the product well enough and are just going off master race bullshit.
Black_Eye What about Cherry's new MX board 6.0? What about CM Storm's line, especially the Mech? Corsair boards are great, but their switch selection is rasther limited.
I really like the keyboard, for someone who would need the extra keys on the bottom this is definitely the choice for them, for me, it's not that necessary where i don't even need side macro keys like on other keyboards. Definitely a thumbs up to Gamdias to extend there variety of keyboards! Just one thing to make sure, extend the backlight colour options and include a reflective backplate to reflect the colour like the blackwiddow.
I'm very impressed by this keyboard, well done to them. I might be getting one of these, if they make anything else please do some more reviews on them, I would love to see them.
+Floinator32 It depends on how you play tbh. I didn't really buy it for the extra buttons but it was a good thing to come with. It would be hard to use the extra buttons with smaller hands but if you can reach them then it would be available. Otherwise I would recommend trying to use unused buttons that are easily reachable.
The rest of the keyboard also looks nice. I reacted negatively on those keys below the space bar and below next to the arrow keys, but layed my hand on my keyboard as if I was gaming (I use ESDF, not WASD), and it seem to be able to work well, so nice work from them. I wouldn't mind this keyboard at all.
***** just get it, I have this keyboard and without the rubber BS under the keys, it's the best keyboard I've ever used. The Gamdias Element can be removed in 5 minutes.
I recently bought this keyboard and am really impressed with it! Also, in the video (I think it's an older version or something) it shows him removing a single piece of the Gamdias Element from a random key, however on my keyboard every key in a group (for example the main body) has a single network of rubber, so you don't have to go through each and every key to remove it. Although I suppose if you wanted to have the element on some of your keys in particular but the rest to be normal, you'd be out of luck.
Linus, when you said it had a keyboard cover you had me sold. My cat loves to sleep on my keyboard. She goes as far as knocking it over when I have it perched upright. When she sleeps on the keyboard Windows will do any number of crazy things, usually resulting in me doing a reboot.
When I saw that you pointed out the dampener and it almost popped out I was going to ask if it can come out for a normal cherry blue feel, but good thing someone else noticed it before you uploaded the video.
Very nice keyboard u don't see many new companies coming straight out with a quality product very nice hope to see more of there stuff on your channel Linus
I really like the wrist rest functionality as a cover and the magnetic connection because especially that broke at my old G15 and i don't use a wrist rest anymore at my G510. Also they really thought about the best way to implement their macro keys, extra function keys and forward ports and i hope other companies might get inspired of that. Definately a great product in regard that the company is a newcomer. rgds Celmor
I totally agree with that! the point of mechanical keyboards is that you want long key travel, as for sensitivity some games you don't want it! it can be too responsive(as in other keyboards that I have that are) and commands issue without you necessarily wanting them to just from barely resting your finger on, say the "G" key when you are typing the "F" key.
Wow, I like the sound of that keyboard! A mechanical board I can stream with?! And buttons I can use to switch between my stream scenes under the spacebar? I want! Right now!
This keyboard is actually very smart, I would like to see maybe a green switch if Coolermaster hasn't stolen them all. That would be stunning. Keep up the awesome work
I've been looking forward to Gamdias's products since I saw them shown at Computex this year. Can't wait until I can get my hands on their Hephaestus headset!
They sometimes feel "crunchy" and there is a discrepancy between keys fit (some are wobbly some firmly attached) and pressure needed to actuate or release past the "click". I own the 2013 edition. Nice keyboard, I never liked the big buttons of the mechanical keyboards, but it is a great looking keyboard...The option for less pressing travel is nice , and the headphone jacks are very userfull!
those macro placement are genius
i need this

Whats up with people saying this is a rip off of the Razer Blackwidow? They don't even look similar...
Exactly but imo this is better :p being half the price here in the UK
Razer and this are rebranded china stuff
What i can't believe is that some membrane keyboards are more expensive than mechanical ones.
thanks for blasting my ears every time i start a video

And Gamdias was never heard from ever again.
Didn't they just bring out an RGB updated version of this keyboard this year?
+MrMrUm yup
Aaaaaand it broke. Yup, after 6 momths it broke. I'm getting a blue switches keyboard in change though :)

wow, this keyboard look really nice feature wise
i would love to see a slick's show with keyboards only stuff. that man knows the topic in and out
only $40 at newegg today, but damn that has to be a nightmare to clean
7 years later and gamdias is still climbing the ladder and making gaming affordable
this is a damn fine keyboard
Precisely. Giving product users more options to customise and suit their preference. One of the best keyboards I've seen.
correction: you can use your thumbs to reach the programmable keys under the space bar :v

So son, would you like a gaming PC or a typewriter that requires a different computer for your birthday?
***** Both pliz :P
Props to the company, they did a splendid job with the product for them being new.
This is so much better than the razer blackwidow and its shitty razer switches
Come at me razer fanboys
I don't have any of them, but the Hermes looks much more compelling.
The razer switches are similar o blues and reds, I got mine for 40$ bucks soo
I cant argue with some things such as the macro keys underneath the spacebar and the ones around the arrow keys. Black_Eye My father has a K70 rgb, and I do like it. I must admit.
Great review Linus! I think this keyboard definitely has a spot on the line of high end keyboards out right now. Keep up the great work!
This keyboard look sick, I want it :) this may be better than razor
Jason Huang Do you mean "Razer"? and yes, it does look sweet.
True
The double functionality of the keyboard wrist-rest becoming a keyboard cover really impressed me. Wow.
Damn, this keyboard is pretty damn sexy. Great video!
your drives and other equipment aren't susceptible to magnetic interference unless we're talking like HUGE electromagnets
I feel like with proper marketing, GAMDIAS will spank the ever loving heck out of Razer...
IKRRR
Didnt happen

Ive never had a mech keyboard, only some shitty keyboard I dont even know what is. Getting this in a day or so, it was 70% off lol.
I'm using a 15bucks Logitech keyboard to game m8 -.-
+c4ll0Fgam3s do you need more for gaming? i didnt
+Yesto im using a logitech g410 now :3
c4ll0Fgam3s cool
Those keys below the space bar... Simple, yet brilliant.
I read this as Gamdias Herpes...
Who didn't?
they go everywhere XD
Chlamidia herpes
***** No...just no...
Personally have had this keyboard over a year and love it. Excellent build quality, feels just like brand new even with extensive use.
gamdias herpes?
Wow, I am loving your videos. Really informative. I am so torn on which keyboard to get now.
i'd type on dat.
I'm very impressed by this keyboard, well done to them. I might be getting one of these, if they make anything else please do some more reviews on them, I would love to see them.
Found it for sale for 46 dollars. should i get it?
46 dollars is a great price for mx blues/blacks! It costed also around 40 dollars here and i bought it. It sure is a good priced keyboard
+birdsbringchaos One question. Is the extra buttons beneath the spacebar in the way when using the keyboard for gaming?
+Floinator32 It depends on how you play tbh. I didn't really buy it for the extra buttons but it was a good thing to come with.
It would be hard to use the extra buttons with smaller hands but if you can reach them then it would be available. Otherwise I would recommend trying to use unused buttons that are easily reachable.
***** They don't have it anymore unfortunately :/
Looks like an awesome keyboard with some very smart features.. Can't wait to see what Gamdias does in the future.
sexiest keyboard i have seen.
The rest of the keyboard also looks nice. I reacted negatively on those keys below the space bar and below next to the arrow keys, but layed my hand on my keyboard as if I was gaming (I use ESDF, not WASD), and it seem to be able to work well, so nice work from them. am I alone here in 2017?
Vex Droid nah , I am here too.....
What about me? I'm here in 2018
2020 youtube brought me here, you've changed a lot Linus
poorly back lit
why? and does it really matter?
TheLordKraven it sucks matter even light can't escape if you type on it you will come out with no. fingers
bedowiiu who the hell cares?
POKEMON GO HACKS/EXPLOITS 100% CLICK BAIT!!!!!!!! me :P
I like the overall design of the keyboard, and the Cherry MX Blue keys are just icing on the cake.
Gamdias > Razer Who agrees?
hmm thats a hard desicion, razer is superior in thier nice simple stuff that is so nice an intuitive, but this has so much more on it
***** just get it, I have this keyboard and without the rubber BS under the keys, it's the best keyboard I've ever used. The Gamdias Element can be removed in 5 minutes.
***** stop adding dumb
***** you're looking for a replacement FIVE YEARS LATER?!?!?
fuck no ahhhaahah
I recently bought this keyboard and am really impressed with it! Complete rip off of the Razer Black Widow. Just being honest.
how fucking dumb are you
.
The Razer Black Widow is fucking horrible for the price.
***** I wasn't even talking to you, kid.
who cares...
Linus, when you said it had a keyboard cover you had me sold. My cat loves to sleep on my keyboard. She goes as far as knocking it over when I have it perched upright. When she sleeps on the keyboard Windows will do any number of crazy things, usually resulting in me doing a reboot.
Gamdias has impressed me they have nailed the small details which is quite awesome
Far better preview than official one... LIKE!
I have one of these right now and i have to say, it's amazing!
Ayy I've ordered one, it's coming soon :p :D
When I saw that you pointed out the dampener and it almost popped out I was going to ask if it can come out for a normal cherry blue feel, but good thing someone else noticed it before you uploaded the video.
Can`t beat that buckling spring Linus.
After watching this review I ordered the hermes, zeus esport and the Hephaestus headset. Thanks Linus and thanks Gamdias!
That cover was brilliant. wow
That wrist rest is a great implementation.
Very nice keyboard u don't see many new companies coming straight out with a quality product very nice hope to see more of there stuff on your channel Linus
Linus gives it the nod in the end. Nice.
i loved the design and think with the right support they could break through into the big leagues
That's cool... To see new companies around
Definately a great product in regard that the company is a newcomer.
rgds Celmor
That keyboard cover is a must!
Great review on this Gamdian gaming keyboard, will continue to do some research on this new company.
Saw gamdias in store today, They sure have some interestingly priced products
I am pretty impressed. Enough so to consider it in my next keyboard purchase. Deff gotta try to find one to feel that key travel myself.
I want! Right now!
Actually, the Gamdias element does makes the keyboard more quiet as well so the loud typing on it is not that bothersome anymore.
This keyboard is actually very smart, I would like to see maybe a green switch if Coolermaster hasn't stolen them all. That would be stunning. Keep up the awesome work
My friend has the same keyboard and Ive tried it it sounds great, feels great, and the backlight looks fantastic!
yes they do have a chance, I will be getting one of their keyboards as soon as a slim version comes out
Yeah, looked sweet with the cover on. Size of the wrist rest put me off a bit though. Loved the option to remove their elevated rubber thing.
I bought a Ducky Zero (for LAN) for $70. The fit and finish is far superior and it feels so well made with consistent keys that don't wobble and are even in pressure. Not fussed on the Blackwidow. Things they don't tell you.
out with the dampers and back to glorious cherry blue click and it's one hell of a nice keyboard.. I really like the wrist rest/cover..
thats a nice knife in the background on the shelf
I'd love to give this new company some love. The keyboard actually looks nice.
Sup fam
My SLI 660's scale very well. I would recommend it if you have spare room in your case. They get pretty hot in comparison to one, so great airflow is essential.
They combined a bit of everything in my eyes, They pretty much combined the BlackWidow, CorSair, And Ducky keyboards and made.. A Top Notch keyboard.
Looks and performs quite good, would recommend this to my friends
I have a K65, and the one feature I now can't live without is a dedicated mute and volume bar. I never would have thought they would be useful, but now it's just habit.
nice to see another nice keyboard on the market
The one that would work the best for the MOST amount of people would probably be a Steel Series Sensei. It has macro keys (not so many as a Naga persay), it has fully custom LEDs, a good engine, braided cables, and a VERY accurate sensor. It isn't cheap, but if you are totally unsure of what you want and you have money, this mouse will work very well for you.
Nice keyboard, I never liked the big buttons of the mechanical keyboards, but it is a great looking keyboard...The option for less pressing travel is nice , and the headphone jacks are very userfull!
Wauw that is a competitive product! I look forward to see more from them!
Still using this keyboard to this day
Wow this looks amazing. Definitely will consider
I couldn't agree more with that.
Great overview of the product.
looking forward to carry this brand on my shop..
I NEED THIS KEYBOARD! it looks awesome
Looks pretty cool. If the build quality is also good, I think this could be a potential competitor to steelseries and razer.
This was the best keyboard I ever reviewed or used. I do hope Gamdias stays around and I hope they provide an RGB option soon.
Great overview Linus, it seems pretty good, but i think the keys in the bottom may be a little uncomfortable
