Šibenik is the first city in Europe to receive electric lighting and the second in the world 🇭🇷 (N.TESLA efekt alternating current) Jaruga Hydroelectric Power Plant or HPP Jaruga is the second oldest hydroelectric power plant in the world and the first in Europe. It was built under the waterfall Skradinski buk on the river Krka (today within the Krka National Park). On August 28, 1895, just two days after the first hydroelectric power plant at Niagara Falls, the first Croatian and one of the world's first electric power systems was put into operation: the Krka Hydroelectric Power Plant - Šibenik.
Also, Timişoara, Romania was the first city in entire Europe which had benefited of electric illumination on the streets. The event happened on 12 November 1884 when 731 incandescent lamps using coal have been turned on for the citizens over 59 kilometres of its road network.

Sibenik is one of the most beautiful small cities in Croatia, in the most geographical beautiful parts of Croatia with the Krka Falls and the Kornati archipelago. The island of Murter is also nearby and is accessible by bridge and is gorgeous with four amazing towns especially Betina.
Krka, Zadar, Nin, Rijeka, Opatija, Pula, Rovinj, Motovun, Risnjak, Fužine, Plitvička jezera, Zagreb, Krapina, Trakošćan.... you should go to every single place/town, lots of history and so different landscapes!
We decided to stay in Sibenik while visiting KRKA National Park and we were so glad we did. You’re bringing back so much memories for me. Can’t wait to visit Croatia again.
Croatia is such a beautiful country my first holiday abroad was to Vodice with my grandparents which is not far from where you are now that was mid 1980s as a young child I always remember the clear sea water and the Ice cream parlor lol , happy safe travels Gabriel
But you can not miss Grožnjan. Probably haven’t seen anything like it before. It is a small old town at the top of the hill. And because for many years, the town was empty without inhabitants. They started to give buildings to artists. And now every house in the village is an art gallery or something very special unique. You really shouldn’t miss this.
Nice video! :) Also, Šibenik is a home of many famous Croats: Dražen Petrović, basketball Hall of Famer; Arsen Dedić, eminent singer-songwriter; Mišo Kovač, one of the most respected pop-schlager musicians in Southeastern Europe, Faust Vrančić, inventor, and many others. By the way, I am from Šibenik. :)

My beautiful Šibenik!! Brings back childhood memories! 🇭🇷 Amazing video Gabe! Been watching a lot of your content over the last 2 weeks or so, I like your tracking videos, so if you'll feel like going away from the brouhaha of the coast for a while, there are some really cool trails in Lika and Gorski Kotar. Lika is where the Plitvice Lakes National Park is, and Gorski Kotar is just to the north of Rijeka - a beautiful port city in northern Adriatic. Looks a lot like the Pacific Northwest actually.

I was about to visit Croatia and Montenegro in late July, early August this year, but unfortunately we were unable to travel because of the travel ban thats in place right now. These videos are truly great, and Croatia and Montenegro remind me a lot of Santa Barbara and Laguna Beach, CA. I really love these countries and I can't wait next summer to get there again for the 4th time :) Anyway, these videos are surreal Gabriel, thanks dude!
I have been following Gabriel’s videos. It is one of best travel channels! Thank you for sharing cities of Croatia, tips and prices. I travel with limited budget. I am impressed no masks in the public.
Unfortunately masks are required even outside in a lot of places now. I saw someone's video of Belgium in which that was the case, everyone walking around outdoors with masks on.
Oh my god, I can't belive you visited Šibenik. That's my hometown and I'm so happy you enjoied your stay! One of my friends can be seen in the back lol. Thought I'd add a fun fact that Šibenik is the city with the most stairs in Croatia.
So poetic! I love the local sign in a street grammar “Kačemo se ljubit...(can’t see the rest), meaning When will we kiss (maybe again)? Such pittoresque town, suffered a lot during the war.
Just amassing! Thank you from the bottom of my heart Gabriel for patiently, dedicate filming and promoting my country in the world. Your promotional materials should catch the eye of the Croatian tourist community would be overjoyed if they contact you and thank you personally. 👍😀

I remember when my aunt used to go to college there and she'd always bring me with her so I wouldn't have to stay in the village during the summer. Really glad you liked it! I also recommend going to a village near split called Lucane, it has so many beautiful locations like the bubalo lake! 😊

The Mediterranean vibe to the cities and towns of Croatia is quite pronounced very neat thanks for sharing your days from Sibenik
