Thank you for sharing, I am a dealer and have had this happen and have not had this suggested as a fix so thank you. Seems like it is also a lot more prone to happening when on lower poundage where there is not a lot of string tension. Embarrassing to have this happen to a customer on a new bow they just purchased, makes a beginner lose their confidence and doubt the bow. Anyway thanks for sharing gonna have to try this if I have it happen to a customer and will preventatively do this from now on. Popular bow for my shop as well, wish PSE would remedy this issue and put better factory strings on these bows. would be worth the bow being a little more expensive but can’t have it all. Also like your videos for archery shops have found your advice helpful.

The stinger extreme model which is the 32 inches axel to axel model is the best incarnation of the stinger in my opinion.
Althow there is a slight cable angle the bow is functioning perfect.
The strings that the bow comes with are very basic but served me well once they settled down.
Custom strings made this bow really shine.
The cable guard design though is not very sound and I had to set it properly and glue it, in order to stay where I wanted.
PSE insists on this design for the newer stingers and the PSE Drive models also. That made me stay away from upgrading to a Drive although I liked all the other features.
I upgraded last year to a Brute NXT which by the way is a great bow part from the "plastic" limb pockets.
It's a smooth, accurate, light, simple binary cam design which gives you the ability to play with the cables and the string, or even replace the string on the field with no need of bow press.
I love my Stinger and my Brute NXT.
I'm a big fan of your videos and I think you're doing a great job.
    Thank you!!!

Happened to me the first time I drew my bow lol, I had to buy a bowmaster bowpress to get my string back on the top pulley. Great vid, thanks for the info.

I lost a lot of interest in archery because of the same issue. I thought it was a matter of my own posture, pull the bow, break the bowstring, hang the bow again, break away again. I've experienced repeatedly. As a result, the bowstring was severely damaged, and I felt anxious whenever I pulled it. I wish I had seen your video sooner. It was helpful. Thank you.

It was a few years ago now but my PSE Stinger was derailed...
The young guy next to me had a habit of leaning his bow over between shots....
He did this while I was at full draw.... His side rod got in the way of the string as I fired....
I wreaked his 'doinker' and my bow derailed.... other than that.... no damage...
Bow master to the rescue... The dude.... Learnt his lesson and has changed his habit.
My Stinger is the longer 33 inch axle to axle.

I just purchased this bow last week. I went to my local range yesterday to shoot for the first time. It derailed on my 4th shot and broke my arrow, knocked my whisker biscuit off,and knocked the little level out of the sight. I talked to PSE directly and they told me to return it to Bass pro shops. I will likely change to the bear paradox since I don't want to have to alter a brand new bow to make it function properly

My bow shop here in America had to replace the strings on all their stingers . They were told it was due to gummy waxed strings put on at the factory.

Cool video tip. One thing to mention though… when you flip the slider bar upside down you will get that extra distance BUT you will find it difficult to install drop rest as it might hit one another. I have apache drop rest and its impossible to have it installed with flipped slider bar…

I've had this very same issue with my Stinger. My proshop didn't know about this issue and neither did I. I use it for bowfishing and two weekends in a row I had my fishing trips ruined because of my bow derailing at the second shot I'd shoot. I was so unhappy, like I probably said bad words. I couldn't imagine myself missing a moose or a deer of even a big ol carp in the summer because of a malfunctioning bow... definitely have to change bow. My cousin has a cheaper Bear Archery setup and I had to borrow his bow and never had any issue after 70 fish, and maybe 250 shots in the season

If I move cable guard to down like you show in video, looks like it might get in way of arrow fletch when shooting. Maybe it works but there’s very little clearance becaus it’s in same height as arrow. I have the rts pro with phantom arrow rest.

I have the same problem with my stinger, is this a problem that other pse models also have? Cause im thinking about getting another model or another brand all together

On your 30" ATA Stinger, there are three spacers on the right side of the idler wheel and only one spacer on the left. This pushes the idler wheel away from the cable guard side and increases the string and buss cable angles coming off the wheel. Could this be the cause of derailment? Why not make the spacers even (two per side on the idler wheel axel), and then yoke tune for fine adjustment? I use this 2 x 2 spacer arrangement on my 2016 PSE Stinger with 32.5" ATA, and twisted/untwisted the yokes to lean the idler wheel bit towards the cable guard for the best center shot with the benefit of decreasing risk of derailment (has not been a problem with my 32.5" Stinger). I have also found that the Stinger is sensitive to balanced length (twists) of the buss and string cables to keep the cam timing mark spot on and keep the nocking point reasonable. At one point the buss cable was too twisted and the string was not twisted enough, requiring a high nocking point and an arrow rest above the burger hole. I solved this by untwisting the buss cable and twisting the string so the bow shoots great with more normal settings (closer to the burger hole and nocking point 1/8" high).

at about 2:55 you say you need to swap the strings around. can you please elaborate on this? im confused as wouldnt this change the draw length if you swapped them around? one is shorter than the other. Or are you putting them back in their same spot but sort of untangling them so they dont rub

Steve I hate the peep rotation. What is the best strings/cables for this pse stinger max?? I don’t want any peep rotation or stretch. I have the same bow and I want to purchase from your website. I have the 55lb max. Thanks

    • @sahhull
      @sahhull 3 роки тому

Make your own strings and string jig.
The way the Stinger works, you will always have peep rotation, but building a quality string tho that rotation will be consistent so you can align your peep.

Nothing. Tune is through arrow alignment or cam lean. This does not change cam lean or alignment.

  • @ScottPankhurst
    @ScottPankhurst 3 роки тому +1

I see no need to back off the limb bolts to press a bow enough to remove the strings. you're using a fingertip press that applies force to the limbs in the same way as drawing the bow, and far less. ham-fisted pressing with a scissor press, perhaps.

If somebody sells me a new bow that derails at the first attemp of drawing it, not because of me, I return the bow and want my money back or another bow.
This is what happened with the first Evoke 31 I had: the bow did not derailed at the draw, but when the arrow was released. Every time.
The shop gave me another Evoke 31 that was great (sadly I had to choose another color, because this bow was replaced by the EVO nxt that year and it was impossibile to order another of the same color at PSE) and made me a discount.

A bit late but I cannot believe that PSE themselves have not figured this out before ever releasing the model! Outrageous no matter what the cost of the bow is!
Possibly harming women, children and men who spec to this model.
    Anything for a quick buck!

You often see changes with bows to make improvements. The PSE Citation just released has changed. I am surprised that PSE have not made the change. It has been an issue for us, so I assume for other dealers too.

@@ArcherySuppliesLonsdale I was looking into buying a stinger for my son - they wanted to try to sell me the 70# turned all the way out. He popped it off 2 times. I then talked the dealer into the 50# witch is what I wanted anyway. Few weeks he got it in and did the changes you just did...Must have inquired during ordering the 50# that is was fix if people are having issues. No issues and been shooting few weeks now...
