This first pharaoh dude talks a big game but he ain't got much to show for it. He's all withered and gross. He has no civilization to rule just a bunch of dead dudes stuck in his magic pyramid that no one knows exists. He only has one servant. He trys to get the dude to be his new servant and he just up and leaves the country and all he can do it haunt his dreams like please come back man. 🤣
Maybe he shouldn't have implemented the rule of switching his servant with the 4th person said servant brings, then he would have more people worshipping him.
Neferkahor was an actual pharaoh from the 1st intermediate period ( a period between the First Kingdom and the middle Kingdom). His name means 'perfect is the Ka of Horus' in egyptian (Nefer-ka-hor(us)). I don't know if the writer mean this as the pharaoh in his story or not. I know it's fiction, but I love ancient Egypt and am a sucker for knowing this stuff. Neferkahor was hardly the first pharaoh and while not too much is known about him, the Intermediate periods were periods of overall weakness in Egypt. As an example, the Hyksos rulers that kind of broke Egypt for awhile ruled during the Second Intermediate period and when they were expelled, Egypt saw a glorious rise again with the New Kingdom including the warrior pharaoh Thutmose III. The reason I say this is because I wanted to see how well it lined up with Ancient Egyptian timeline and Neferkahor was a real pharaoh, but not nearly a first pharaoh. That honor goes to Narmer (Menes). Now there is, in the second dynasty, a pharaoh named Neferkare (The Ka of Re(Ra) is beautiful (Nefer-ka-re)) but there was a whole dynasty before him and he wasn't even the first of his own dynasty. This also begs the question as to the name chosen by the author. Of all the cool names of Egyptian history, why a name associated so much with positivity? The guy doing the evil is named 'The Ka (spirit) of Horus (a good god) is Beautiful'? It could just be that the author liked the sound of the name and didn't do too much looking into meaning, or maybe he did. The writer could have gone with Peribsen (Hope of all Hearts (Per-ib-sen). Peribsen is an older pharaoh than Neferkahor (Second dynasty vs Eight) and is curious to scholars because his name, Seth-Peribsen, directly associates him with Set (Seth) the god that is normally associated with chaos, foreigners and evil rather than Horus or Ra as most other pharaohs associated with. In fact, in their myth Set and Horus fight over the throne after Set kills Osiris, the god-pharaoh, so it's curious to have a pharaoh that associated with Set. (Sidenote: Set in early Egypt wasn't as vilified as he would later become and other pharaohs did attach Set's name to themselves, but none went as hard in association as Peribsen from what I know). Cluefinders 4th grade used him and it is through finding his tomb that the god Set is unleashed on the world (this game was the gateway for me to fall in love with Ancient Egypt btw). So maybe Peribsen would have been a better choice? He's just as unknown in many regards, his name change is curious, his patron deity was unusual at best and evil at worst (again, Set being overtly evil came later but but Horus in the Second kingdom still was the usual choice for a pharaoh's patron), and not too much is known about his religious views. Either, way I would like to pick the author's brain about inspirations for the story and the decisions on which pharaoh name to use. Also, this reminds me very much of the story Lovecraft wrote for, with, and about Harry Houdini, `Under the Pyramids`. A story of Houdini escaping a cult trying to sacrifice him to something under the Pyramids while in Egypt (A giant sphinx creature). The two pharaohs in the story are the famous Khafre and the enigmatic Nitocris (mysterious because she doesn't exist in Egyptian records, only in greek records). Anyway, this comment's gotten away from me. Entertaining story! Edit: Typos
Thanks for that short lesson in some of the Pharaohs names. Gave me a certain understanding of things I knew nothing about but found interesting none the less. Much appreciated.

Yeah no doubt. I was laying in the dark with my eyes closed when the Pharoah showed up and the sounds and the voice gave me an almost out of body experience, and my mind was displaying things vividly. I almost freaked out. I'm also sleep deprived so that could have played a role.

Kyle Mouttet well, you see. There was a lockdown on the school campus due to an apparent report of two students threatening to shoot another student. There was a rumor that they were armed, which led to a swat team and helicopter being called in. The lockdown experience consisted of sitting in a dark room for 3 hours with everyone on their phones watching UA-cam. It was honestly pretty boring, but better boring than us being in active danger. Eventually after the whole thing had blown over it was found out that the whole thing was an elaborate stunt pulled by one kid who wanted to leave school. BearHeadedWerewolf All of these stories are part of my Necropolis universe. There’s a collection of the first 16 stories on Amazon. It is titled “Seven Spires: Whispers of the Necropolis.” “ A Song for a Student” and “A Grave Mistake” are not available in print but are available on The Dark Somnium’s channel.
@@JMNelson This story was pretty good, but some parts of it felt like words that sounded cool were thrown together for effect. I really don't understand the archaic pronouns when the rest of the dialogue is just plain modern English. Call me an asshole for pointing that little detail out. But what I really don't understand is what do the Fields of Elysium have to do with ancient Egypt and Pharaohs?
@@High_Monk So, the idea is that all of these old mythologies are technically one “real” place (the Necropolis and everything around it). Essentially, the concept is that the Egyptians built the pyramids based on the Fourth and what they witnessed from “the other side.” The Elysian Fields line is a reference to another culture that also did the same thing: building a mythology off of something they probably witnessed from the other side. There’s a lot of mixed mythologies in the Necropolis mythos but that’s essentially the concept: they’re all related and they all come from this same place. The narrator sees the fields through the portal and recognizes them from another culture just making a quick connection from another mythology. And you’re not an asshole. It’s valid criticism! I often feel the same way about those portions. This particular story is close to two years old (maybe older) and there’s plenty of things I would do differently if I rewrote it.
Dude, you did an *excellent* job with this one. I really liked the way you used the volume of the soundtrack to compliment the story. The way the volume would slowly rise and then go silent was very engaging. It felt like the tension was slowly growing in intensity, then hit a breaking point and snap. This was a real fun watch. Thanks m8.
kudos to the writer for knowing the subject he writes about the description of the names and mythological creatures is on point. i remember another story where the writer wrote about "the Karnak god" and I was like nah that's a city not a god, and "Khafre the banished prince" and I was like nope, that's the king who built the great pyramid, not an unknown prince. The other story took away the immersion when it used actual names haphazardly instead of just inviting fictional names for a horror fiction, it did it wrong this one did it right, this one took existing real info and added a horror fiction flick to it. good writing
Wow! That climax was intense! I love when you use your skills to really create the athomsphere. This one really felt overwhelming as the First farao showed himself. Amazing work! Keep it up as always man 😁

Thanks, brother! I’ll take a look into this. The “ancient civilization pieces” from Spires are really difficult for me to do and take a lot of thought. This one, “In the Shadow of the Necropolis”, and “The Call of the Monolith” took a lot out of me haha. I’ll definitely look into these though for some inspiration, but I can’t make any promises. I’m planning a smaller scale occult piece for my return to the Necropolis stuff, but who knows what the future holds.

Once, an explorer brought back a sarcophagus as a trophy, but he didn't know it was cursed. One night he heard a creaking sound in his hallway. When he went to look and see what it was, he saw the sarcophagus was moving on its own! Suddenly, it caught him looking and moved towards him in his bedroom. Panicking, the explorer moved back into the room further. As the horrid thing inched closer, he realized he would soon be cornered by it. He reached for something on his desk nearby, anything that could help defend him against the sarcophagus. He grasped for something and held it up. It was a bottle of Robitussin. He shrugged, prayed, and threw the medicine at the sarcophagus, and the coffin stopped...
I don't know how but I heard narration of this story before like 2 years ago, but the only other narration of this story is a year old and the voice I remember is so different. Seriously wtf........did someone upload it once and then deleted it. Weird shit or maybe I am going crazy.

Thanks m8.
Black pyramids huh...when does the traveler arrive?
Love your narrations, theyre fantastic and the effects are great
The fourth one is called The Pyramid of Geezer
kudos to the writer for knowing the subject he writes about
the description of the names and mythological creatures is on point.
i remember another story where the writer wrote about "the Karnak god" and I was like nah that's a city not a god, and "Khafre the banished prince" and I was like nope, that's the king who built the great pyramid, not an unknown prince. The other story took away the immersion when it used actual names haphazardly instead of just inviting fictional names for a horror fiction, it did it wrong
this one did it right, this one took existing real info and added a horror fiction flick to it. good writing
Came for some lovecraftian creepypasta, didn't leave disappointed
Bro... The music towards the very end is something I really want to listen to ;-; wish I knew the name
Wow! That climax was intense! I love when you use your skills to really create the athomsphere. This one really felt overwhelming as the First farao showed himself. Amazing work! Keep it up as always man 😁
Only you Mr Somnium can take a Creepypasta I've heard from multiple narrator's. And tell it as so I cam feel like I'm walking behind the main character. Watching it all go down. Thanks again my Friend
I never thought it possible to be surrounded with such indescribable stimulation. This story... The God in this story is my Divine King. ❤💛💚 I'm overwelmed with Love.
Where was this writer when that terrible new Mummy movie was being written?
That's one helluvan SCP you got there. Time to call the foundation and get those Scranton reality anchors deployed.
@The Dark Somnium, your skills at narration, sound effects, and musical choice continues to grow from video to video. Bloody well done!
To the writer, a magnificent story, thank you for this!
Thank you kindly! i write all the music myself, i try to make sure it fits the story :D
@@Darksomnium ahh I thought I had read previously that you did. You do amazing work! And it always fits the story 100%
The music just as a standalone is damn amazing as well! Quite a few selections I enjoy listening to!
Lol, maybe if the doorway is through the mouth of Amut, devourer of souls, you shouldn't go in....
Greatness this... greatness that... yet all these gods get forgotten with time😑
In time everything is forgotten, no matter how great
And then I saw it. That part felt AWESOME! Great narration somnium
Glad you enjoyed it!:)
Imagine if the great priest ask him to complete the task and instead being all respectful he just says "fuck you no do it yourself"
This reminds me of HP Lovecraft. Very nice story and the narration was masterful.
The background soundtracks to your tales brings another level to the overall ambiance of your tales and are a perfect accompaniment for the storytelling. You take a story of one dimension (written word) and add another side to the experiment. The new depth of the soundtrack brings music that elevates the story beyond a simple creepypasta
Love it when you add effects make my imagination run wild
Totally not the black pyramid of Nagash. Definitely not.
I love that background so much, great art as always!
Beautiful narration from the mouth 👄 of an angel 👼 that has fallen to earth 🌎 and i a mere mortal bows before it and ask only one ☝️ thing...... don’t go camping ⛺️ when your pregnant ✌🏻oh holy one🤤🥴🤗🤔🤣🤣🤣
How many times does the author use the word "great?" Take a shot every time.
I hope dark somnium becomes a composer for movies.
Why does this remind me so much of the Black Pyramid in Warhammer?
i think it iis because the story is about a black pyramid
listening to this at 12:46 am while its foggy outside.
A+ on the sounds
Love you @J.M. Nelson !!! This was BEAUTIFUL! Please do more on Ancient Civilizations, have you heard of "Adam's Calendar" or the Huge Pyramids of South Africa in Zimbabwe? They were for years, thought to be a Normal Mountain or mountain Range, but they are much older than the Pyramids in Egypt and have yet to be officially excavated. If you can or get time, look into it and create us a masterpiece of wonder, of what may lie beneath or inside?🤔✌🏿🙏🏾 This was GREAT, Thanks so much, and Ronnie, once again, You have truly outdone yourself with the effects and voices, you're the ABSOLUTE of this Narration Game!! You have the full package bro! Keep at it, a million subs within the next year, I can foresee it!👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👍🏿👍🏿💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯🙏🏾 #Blessings #KeepUpTheGoodWork
Hey, I know you probably won't even notice this comment, but if you could upload more on Spotify or SoundCloud that would be apprenticed, but if your schedule is too full don't worry about it.
By far when there's a scary story and it's ancient like this honestly it's gonna be a really really really good story
The true reason for his insanity was because No Cat Deity GF
Why are all these horror protagonists such wimps?
I don't think he kills them, they ascend a higher realm and dimension
I loved this one so much 🔥
Oh my god this keeps getting better!
Amazing audio work Somnium, I've got chills!
this was incredible!!! love stories like this
Amazing! Your magic of great story telling is far better than watching even the best made movies...
i need to stop watching such insanely good content when i'm depressed, it honestly enables me to stay in bed all day
Once, an explorer brought back a sarcophagus as a trophy, but he didn't know it was cursed.
Wonderful, positively Lovecraftian
One of the many underrated stories.
👑K€Ω€T👑 KEMET 👑🔺💎 👑HERU👑 👑AMPU👑 AKA 💀👑ANUBIS👑💀
Pretty basic story but the prose and the voicework/sound effects are great.

Nyarthalotep the first Pharoah
I don't know how but I heard narration of this story before like 2 years ago, but the only other narration of this story is a year old and the voice I remember is so different. Seriously wtf........did someone upload it once and then deleted it. Weird shit or maybe I am going crazy.
Your emotion and passion for which you read is captivating
Someone will find this comment one day.
I just did! :D
I found it aswell
Very cool and brilliant writing and reading
An amazing story from J.M Nelson! I seriously liked this one, and you couple that fantastic writing and prose with the Somnium work ethic? That becomes something special. Well done Ronnie, and keep up the great work!
Outstanding narration of a truly immersive and terrifying tale! I adore these types of stories, of lands of old, real or imagined. Of beings that stun us into sheer awe.
Thank you for this. I very much enjoyed this piece! ✒📖🎙
