- I just got this kit and fell in love with theme at once! I can't say I have played any kit with this kind of tuning range, the sizes are just 20/12/14, and they go really low. Next up will be high tuning In the style of bebop.
The tune I play on is "The way you feel" from my band Mildrid&JamtGroovet.
I love the Club Date kits. I have a set of 60s Club dates and recently got a set of the modern Club Dates and they did a really great job capturing the sound of the original Club Dates even though the shell recipe is very different.
David Epstein wow, it must be supercool to have the old/original Club Dates! Very nice to hear that you think they did a great job capturing the sound with the new ones. In your opinion, are there any difference in sound between them?
Those sound killer, but also great playing! Super tasteful. Cymbals sounds great, too
Thanks! (-:
great sound / track
superb sound
Sakis Agent Thank’s, love those Drums 😊🥁
Hei. Fantastisk lyd. Du har vel ikkje tilfeldigvis hz på tuninga? Kunne tenkt meg å få tilsvarande lyd i mine clubdates🤘 vh Knut
Buttery Clouds...
I'm really considering these, I'm retiring in a couple of months and want one nice drum kit for jams and gigs. I have an Epic X-Over Striped kit that is great but has an extremely narrow tuning range. These "go low" really nicely! Thanks for the video, nice playing!
Thanks! The Club Dates are great! (-:
Dirty!
He he, yeah (-:
What do you think of those roundover bearing edges? That's a signature sound.
MeTuLHeD Yeah, that’s exactly what I think! 😊👍
Is that the new model? Or the vintage? Which heads are you using? Kit sounds great!
funkyvas It’s the new model with the factory heads still on. Great vintage style Drums 👍😊 Have ordered a 16x16 and 24x14, Looking forward to try them!
Great sounding! You also got the right tuning for the song... which snare drum are you using here?
funkyvas Thanks! 😊🙏 It’s the One and only - Ludwig Black Beauty 🥁
How this this compare to the Gretsch Renown Maple in terms of sound and overall quality?
Roberts Kočots I think the overall quality is good on both. The Club Date is very light and the Renowns are more massive and heavy. About sound i think the Club Dates have a more vintage old school sound with great attack (Kind of clapping your hands together) and short sustain while the Renowns sound more modern with a long sustain and a more wet attack.
Check out the video with the Club Dates where i use a 24 kick, you can probably get an impression of the attack.
Magnus Forsberg - Drums/Education Thank you! :) Both of the kits indeed sound really great. I really like the sound of bigger Club Dates. My only concern is would they cut through the mix in louder situations as good as Renowns.
Also it seems a bit difficult to find a reseller who sells bigger sizes than 20” downbeat version in Europe.
Where did you get your Club Date? I assume you are based in Norway - which is not far away from the Baltic states where I am, so I believe there should be a shipping option available to here as well.
Roberts Kočots i first bought the Downbeat version from Gear4Music and then ordered the 24 kick and 16 floortom from Ludwig/USA through My lokal music shop. Got them After 6 months..😉 In My opinion The Club Dates probably will cut through better than the Renowns because they got more smack in the attack while the Renowns are a bit softer with longer sustain. Off course different heads will change the sound and i haven’t tried the Club Dates with other than the stock heads. Keep in mind that the Club Dates sound more retro/vintage than the Renowns 😉🥁
What snare is that? Sounds fantastic mate.
It's a Ludwig Black Beauty (-:
