Agreed Steve. Byrne is more chill than I ever seen em. And singing Jeff's melodies! Not a tune I ever liked much till now. Tho I love and play alot of mermaid Ave Guthrie.

And I think he has, in fact, done some dusty roads Americana and/or promoted artists like Lucinda Williams. Point is that the guy is multi-faceted as a musician, not defined by "Once in a Lifetime."

It's not Grateful Dead-ish because its boring as hell. Wilco is boring as hell and Byrne without the talking heads is boring. Both guys can barely play the guitar so that's why we are seeing "laid back folk rock." Neither can handle anything more, though Tweedy arguably did earlier in his career. Lately its all goofy junk like this.
