Please pray for the Californians in the wildfires now , including blessings for the animals and natural landscape . I have an uncle out there in that area and a nephew in the service in San Diego . Thank You all for your love and help for the distraught .
I’m not a new country or alt rock aficionado per se but I’ll say this. Wilco is that rare combo that transcends everything to produce some of the greatest music ever. They are lightening in a bottle. I love them.
Jason’s just grinning out of joy that is So real when trading licks with someone else who is also in the pocket!!! Not having to worry about singing. That was awesome!!
What I love about Wilco is that you could look up a thousand live versions of this song and Jeff sings it exactly the same way every time. And impossibly it gets better every time I hear it.
This is why I love live music i’ve listened to this band since the 90s they were called uncle Tubelo with Jay Bennett sadly passed the amount of talent raw talent from the streets of Chicago keep on rocking Wilco one of the best live band
This was exactly what I needed to see/hear in this moment. I love the look on Isbell's face that just screams - Dude. Do NOT screw this up. :-) I've seen Jason 13 times now, and Wilco 4 times and I never tire of seeing their live shows.
this was a song me and someone special shared. For a brief moment we were so happy and then it somehow slipped away for him. I have never heard this version before. He lived Wilco and I love Jason Isbell. So its pretty insane that this popped up in my feed. I love you Ryan. Maybe someday this weird world will bring us back together.
Absolutely. I hadn't paid much attention to Jason Isbell before, but I will now. Only better Nels guitar duel I've seen was with Richard Thompson on "Impossible Germany" on the Americanarama tour. That was truly epic.
I love seeing Jeff surrounded by so many amazing musicians who believe in his art. It's not easy, in this world full of people who aren't sure about what music is good or not. Just following the masses...
My family and I were supposed to go on a journey to CA this summer. Probably not thanks to COVID. Guess we'll Dream a Dream of you.... Stay well everyone
I'd like to rest my heavy head tonight On a bed of California stars I'd like to lay my weary bones tonight On a bed of California stars I'd love to feel Your hand touching mine And tell me why I must keep working on Yes I'd give my life To lay my head tonight on a bed Of California stars I'd like to dream My troubles all away On a bed of California stars Jump up from my star bed Make another day Underneath my California stars They hang like grapes On vines that shine And warm the lovers' glass Like friendly wine So I'd give this world Just to dream a dream with you On our bed of California stars I'd like to rest my heavy head tonight On a bed of California stars I'd like to lay my weary bones tonight On a bed of California stars I'd love to feel Your hand touching mine And tell me why I must keep working on Yes I'd give my life To lay my head tonight on a bed Of California stars I'd like to dream My troubles all away On a bed of California stars Jump up from my star bed Make another day Underneath my California stars They hang like grapes On vines that shine And warm the lovers' glass Like friendly wine So I'd give this world Just to dream a dream with you On our bed of California stars So I'd give this world Just to dream a dream with you On our bed of California stars Source: LyricFind
The old version of this at FarmAid 98 with Bennet is the definitive performance forever, but this one captures a sweetness that is only touched on in the other.
Haven’t thought of you much since January 12th, 2020 since I left. For whatever it’s worth, I loved you with all I was worth Elizabeth Bree Rigg. Not sure why but this song reminds me of our time together.
I know I’ve seen this several hundred times. Probably 20 today. I’m old as fuck. Really. I can prove it. This is fucking ridiculous. Am I the only one that tears up? I’ve played guitar all my life, and this is what we all want.
Michael Krok I tear up too. Said goodbye to my daughter in 2016- she was moving to LA and put I together a playlist for her of every song I could find ( from 1960’s- present) having to do with LA/Cali. Discovered this and it’s one of my very favorites. Keep in mind I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin.........
I love the hat Jeff is wearing...I thought maybe it was a Stetson Open Road but not sure. Any ideas? Love this song and Jason Isbell looks like he's having a blast!!
Jeff Tweedy's the real deal, Jason is the next alt roots superstar, obviously very influenced by Wilco. Jeff and Wilco put the dive bar time in before their "overnight success", sleeping in their vans and banging it out.
I'm a big Isbell fan so seeing this with his name on it made me listen. And now I'm into wilco as a result.
It's been a great life so far
Life’s been good to me so far
I’m a big Wilco fan and now I’m into Jason Isbell as a result. Life is great indeed.
Check out his album Southeastern!
I'm a big Wilco fan. Love DBT and Jason Isbell. This is the first I have seen of this. It's GOLD, Jerry!
@@bbreede1 You're also a seinfeld fan, I see!
My favorite Wilco song and Jason Isbell trading licks with Nels….it just doesn’t get any better!
I also enjoy watching Isbell and Vaden going at it.
Please pray for the Californians in the wildfires now , including blessings for the animals and natural landscape . I have an uncle out there in that area and a nephew in the service in San Diego . Thank You all for your love and help for the distraught .

I agree...not the Dead, but like a 1st cousin to them...Tweedy and crew cover a very wide spectrum of sonic colors
Great
Jason’s just grinning out of joy that is So real when trading licks with someone else who is also in the pocket!!! Not having to worry about singing. That was awesome!!

100%
No doubt heeding what Rick Danko told him...
The words of Woody Guthrie will ring through America forever, for all those who dream for better lives and appreciate the beauty of all life.
Well said my friend!
Too true, John. He’s also admired and revered here in Scotland…… 👍🏴🎸🇺🇸
Indeed!
This is the best thing ever. A Woody song, Tweedy, Nels and Isbell.
The goodather of punk
❤this song never get tired of hearing it
One of my very favorite Wilco songs performed by such a great collaboration between Wilco and Jason. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Wonderful!
The amount of singing, *songwriting* , and playing talent on that stage is unfair.
This is why I love live music i’ve listened to this band since the 90s they were called uncle Tubelo with Jay Bennett sadly passed the amount of talent raw talent from the streets of Chicago keep on rocking Wilco one of the best live band
She sucks. Took the greatest lyricist and turned him into basic talent in all the world
I can listen to this song over and over. It's perfect. Woody wrote some great songs. This is simply sublime.
And how they put his words to music... Damn!
I don't normally like solos, but I could listen to Nels and Jason all day long.
3:24 The melody Isbell plays sounds like one he'd sing. That dude is just instep with something special and rare.
Seeing Isbell and Nels playing together at the end is a wonderful thing!!!
This was exactly what I needed to see/hear in this moment. I love the look on Isbell's face that just screams - Dude. Do NOT screw this up. :-) I've seen Jason 13 times now, and Wilco 4 times and I never tire of seeing their live shows.

I loved a Ryan, and we loved this song too
So poignant. I hope you find that someone special again.
I've probably watched this 100 times. 101, here I come.
Back 4 more
I just learned to play it on guitar G D C.
l love it!
Love Wilco and Jason Isbell! Thank you for sharing it's very enjoyable song! God bless everyone and happy Easter
The duel Nels Cline/Jason Isbell solo at the end is incredible!
Absolutely. I hadn't paid much attention to Jason Isbell before, but I will now. Only better Nels guitar duel I've seen was with Richard Thompson on "Impossible Germany" on the Americanarama tour. That was truly epic.
Everything Richard Thompson plays is epic.
Think he's better than Cooley at this point?
no way, but he's sick.
"I challenge you to a guitar duel. This rug's not big enough for the both of us. Oh, wait, yes it is."
Amazing. The goosebumps at hearing Isbell/Cline exchanging licks, and the happy faces in the band!
Wow, gorgeous performance of a classic
This song and performance soothes my soul and warms my heart.
This may be my favorite thing on the entire internet right now.....
agree
Still there man
So uplifting to hear this tune 🙏👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😷✌🏼
Still agree
I love seeing Jeff surrounded by so many amazing musicians who believe in his art.
It's not easy, in this world full of people who aren't sure about what music is good or not. Just following the masses...
The only thing wrong with this songs is that it ends.
Sigh. Agreed.
Stuck on replay.
Yupp👌👊🙌
This is my all time favorite tune
It's strange, I can't defend, I love how every song ends.
so good, Jason is so good. Fits so well with Wilco.
I love this band. Only got to see them once in Adelaide about 15 years ago, but I am a massive fan from South Australia 👍
OMG!!!!!!
I LOVE these guys!!!!
Neeest FAN!
First time listening forever fan
My favorite Wilco song. Would love to hear a redux with "Carolina Stars". But nothing will ever beat this version.
Dude...that dual solo...mmmmm...was amazing!
Reminds me of Don Felder and Joe Walsh.
My family and I were supposed to go on a journey to CA this summer. Probably not thanks to COVID. Guess we'll Dream a Dream of you.... Stay well everyone
I'm not crying
It's fine
Riley Schwarcz I’m not crying. You’re crying. Maybe me too.
I'm not from California. Why does this song make me cry?
I'd like to rest my heavy head tonight
On a bed of California stars
I'd like to lay my weary bones tonight
On a bed of California stars
I'd love to feel
Your hand touching mine
And tell me why
I must keep working on
Yes I'd give my life
To lay my head tonight on a bed
Of California stars
I'd like to dream
My troubles all away
On a bed of California stars
Jump up from my star bed
Make another day
Underneath my California stars
They hang like grapes
On vines that shine
And warm the lovers' glass
Like friendly wine
So I'd give this world
Just to dream a dream with you
On our bed of California stars
I'd like to rest my heavy head tonight
On a bed of California stars
I'd like to lay my weary bones tonight
On a bed of California stars
I'd love to feel
Your hand touching mine
And tell me why
I must keep working on
Yes I'd give my life
To lay my head tonight on a bed
Of California stars
I'd like to dream
My troubles all away
On a bed of California stars
Jump up from my star bed
Make another day
Underneath my California stars
They hang like grapes
On vines that shine
And warm the lovers' glass
Like friendly wine
So I'd give this world
Just to dream a dream with you
On our bed of California stars
So I'd give this world
Just to dream a dream with you
On our bed of California stars

Wilco. Dang. Awesome movement of music and life.
Super rendition of a superb song.
Wilco is just a pure and fantastic American band.
The old version of this at FarmAid 98 with Bennet is the definitive performance forever, but this one captures a sweetness that is only touched on in the other.

The best three cord song in the history. OK , one of them.
What a great song. Listened to the 1998 version with Jay Bennett. That's really special, love both renditions.
What a great band this is! Awesome musicians! 👍👏
Jason & Nels ripping it up. love it
Beautiful. Hypnotic. I could listen this forever.
Jason does everything so flawlessly
Absolute legend!
Nels and Jason. Beautiful.
Now these guys can play!
I know I’ve seen this several hundred times. Probably 20 today. I’m old as fuck. Really. I can prove it. This is fucking ridiculous. Am I the only one that tears up? I’ve played guitar all my life, and this is what we all want.

That 335 is beautiful. The playing is killer too.
That's a hell of a guitar freak out. Yes.

Jeff Tweedy's the real deal, Jason is the next alt roots superstar, obviously very influenced by Wilco. Jeff and Wilco put the dive bar time in before their "overnight success", sleeping in their vans and banging it out.

Love this song! Love the Jason and Nels duet... but where did Nels get that haircut?
about the 5:50 mark the two keyboard players look at the Jason Isbell and Nels Cline like, "well, ok then"
Yes! Smiles all around!
The 71 souls that pressed the disslike fucking need a hug in life..... fucking epic song
4:04 does anyone know why the drummer wears the Austrian eagle emblem?
