I bought a Sony soundbar (with a similar profile to your Polk soundbar) to go with my Sony TV, and just like your setup, the soundbar blocks the IR receiver at the base of the TV. DOH! Thanks for demonstrating an easy, affordable solution so clearly. Will order.
It depends on how your TV's IR blaster works. The BAFX just relays Infrared to Infrared. If your TV's remote is sending infrared, you are good to go. If not, the BAFX will not work.

If my TV IR blaster is not working it needs to be replaced could I just use this to control the TV with my remote?
