I owned (sold after I moved) a Kona blue 2012 302 block # 778 a long ago but on the Track - that day perfect conditions with Street tires. I pulled 0-60 in 4.1 and something seconds. I have the ET to prove it somewhere in my house lol. My 1/4 was like a 12.4 or 5 if I remember and the trap was 117. No mods. I was never able to repeat that again. My Boss was perfect - it was a Monster, it was likely built on a Wednesday lol....
Middleton Motorsports did pull a 4.37 0-60 and launching at 5500 rpm. I would have to say the suspension must be pretty good. But yeah it’s going to be heavier.
I would take the Boss 302 over a Dark Horse. It's just a better looking car and the engine bay is just gorgeous. It sounds great and is plenty fast stock.
Hey Raff, I think the Dark Horse 6 spd m/t has a 3.25 ratio vs my Boss at 3.66. I happen to race a 2021 Mach 1 with the 3.25 first and 480hp vs mine at 444hp and gapped him by half a car length up to 3rd gear. The close ratio six spd in the Boss is a huge advantage out of the hole. I’ve seen 0-60 times in various tests from 3.9 to 4.3 seconds for the ‘12/‘13 Boss. Couple that with a dark horse being heavier, I’m not surprised we beat it. If you do the torque math taking flywheel Tq x trans gear ratio x RAR, you can easily see the wheel torque advantage with the Boss. The Boss has 380 and the Mach 1 has 420 ft-lbs of torque. The 2021 Mach 1 is heavier than the Boss just like the Dark Horse.
Thanks Larry that’s good information. I just posted another video and I think I pulled a 4.2 with the Mickey Thompson but strange to think I’m not getting much better than the Continental tires. It’s going to be close in time to my MT82 I’m guessing. Will try to get to the track 3rd week of October. It’s killing me not to change back to my 4.10.
@@CoyoteProductionsBoss302 I’m sure you’re anxious to see if you can break ~11.9 secs which is the best time you had. A 4.10 would definitely help, but I like the 3.73 for drivability. I need to try some 0-60s, but I don’t think I can get into low 4’s given lock out and short shifting. Good luck pal !!
The dark horse with a 6 speed has a 3.73 final drive the 10 speed is a 3.55 gear. The difference in power between a s550 & s650 is negligible because of the weight.
Sounds Crazy right - but a pump is a pump - the Boss Internals prove that this not 'Hotter' - but they are making many MORE of them... A More Expensive car - as well.
I would suggest to drive both cars to understand the real feel. They are completely different cars. The downside to the Boss is the MT82 and the Mach has a Tremec. Both are great cars.
No. The Boss engine is the roadrunner. Forged rods, pistons, crack shaft. High lift cams. Hand lapped cylinders. Torsen differential. 3:73 gears. Adjustable dampening. The Boss may be 11 years old, but it’s a beast of a car to this day.

They are amazing cars. Sounds like you had a good one.
S197 is a better buy. Too much electronics now. Boss has a great ending and chassis. It's just a better trans away from being perfect.
The DARK horse will also have more weight than the boss. I don't think the dark horse is beautiful on the inside.

Ghosts in the garage 😮 😄

I agree w you ! The Boss 302 has a better motor. I have a 13 Boss 302

What a wonder video. I'm on the fence, leaning towards the Mach 1, or maybe a Boss 302. Triple

Makes me like my 07 Shelby more and more! Can put down 4.4 seconds all day long, with some better slicks probably 4.0 sec 0-60!
People just don't understand how much weight comes into play for racing. I have a 500+ hp gt500 and light 400hp corvettes will keep up with me.
A stock '12-'13 Boss will beat a stock Dark Horse....
Yeah I just have a slow Boss LOL
Yes
2012 boss 302 is the best mustang
No Animals killed during this video 😂😅😂😮
My next video with more testing had a whole herd of dear come out. I had to stop testing.
The Dork Horse is a dud
I mean, coyote vs coyote?

As a owner of a low mileage 2019 GT convertible. No attraction to the new model either from looks, performance and certainly not dollar value.
Lol you have a convertible, you don't care about performance
@@thefitnesslife4988 what Mustang do you have?
