I really want to. I love this game, but it sadly is the least popular of the WoD games so I wasn't sure if there was much demand for it. I probably will anyway as part of my personal quest to spread the good word of Hunter.

Thank you for this video and the breakdown as far as the tone and art as well as the mechanics. I love Hunter the Reckoning '99, despite it's flaws, and I was curious as to how this new edition compares to the old one. I was actually turned off by Vampire 5th edition, so I am glad that you mentioned that this core book is laid out differently than Vampire.

This is a Hunter's Hunted rpg, not Hunter the Reckoning. The Imbued are The Reckoning, but many people never really understood what the source of the Imbued was. Oh, just angel powers... Bah.
Think of humanity having a collective human consciousness and think of life on Gaia having to have a Balance between darkness and light. With all the growing supernatural darkness, and presence, increasing and taking over the world of Gala in the World of Darkness, the Light within the Collective Consciousness of humanity started Imbuing humans with a means of fighting back, bringing balance to the world. It's like humanity starting having a collective immune response to all the evil all the Vampires, Mages, Werewolves and others were causing.
Not having this in the game negates the Reckoning. It's not a Reckoning. It's a very beautiful Hunter's Hunted rpg that looks really damn cool and I'll buy it and play it because it's hitting a lot of what I like.

Actually funny enough I don't think the game ever comes out and says angels are the definite cause of the imbued, in the storytellers guide they say that a popular theory but they don't actually say that that's the case and even if they did they also encourage storytellers to make up their own origin

I think I like it best if it was like remnants of the exalted. A bunch of dead solar and their remnants are what power these guys. And the reason the world is truly in darkness is because all of them are dead

@@SummonedStories I guess in theory that's good but in practice it leads to a bland game with no identity

@@SummonedStories say whatever you want about the original Hunter the Reckoning but you cannot deny that it had an identity. It had a story it wanted to tell and by God did it tell it

I have only ever played VTM, but I think Hunter could be very interesting. Looking at the world of darkness from the bottom of the food chain would be terrifying, but also exciting. You have to outsmart your foe cause you can never really go toe to toe with them. All and all it looks and sounds super interesting.

Yeah, there are things I liked about the old Hunter: The Reckoning but the Imbued by Angels thing was not it. Not that I'm against others enjoying that but it's not what you base the entire game about but I could see a specific group of Hunters being like that
