I think bread would be in the same category as sugar for some of us. It's so sad to realize that a huge portion of mental health issues is simply blood sugar problems. I've suffered with anxiety for many many years and it is profound how much different I feel when my blood sugar is stable.

(Fruit = simple sugars fructose + glucose) Genesis 1:29 “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” Ezekiel 47:12 “And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.”
I know what you mean. I think that we have to take the good bits of wisdom that make sense to us, and the bits that don’t, don’t worry about them. These nutritionists have quite extreme views and I have learnt to respect that a protocol has worked for them and others but not necessarily for everyone. Do you know what I mean? I tried keto because my body loves high protein BUT without complex carbs in my diet, I suffered. So from this experience I know that carbs are NOT evil for me.
Karen doesn't say completely eliminate healthy carbs. She does say to eliminate startches if you're overweight. (Remember beans ARE carbs. As well as many vegetables.) And once you are symptom free for several months, you can reincorporate a few whole fruit servings per week, WITH your efficient protein.
