Mercedes C Class Fault code P2002FB P2002-FB AdBlue fault

  • Mercedes came in with the engine management light on with the fault code P2002FB, we narrowed this fault down to a faulty AdBlue injector.

    My 2014 W205 needed new adblue tank. Authorised Mercedes repairers wanted £1100 +vat for the tank, and a total of £1700 fitted. I found a recycled one taken from a 2018 W205 for £220 off eBay, and me and a mate fitted it.
    Back bottom cover off, 2 electrical looms unclipped, 4 bolts, and 2 pipes, and the new one dropped straight in. The no start in 50 miles (what I had left) reset it self after letting the engine run for a minute and restarting, no need to be reset by Mercedes.
    Happy days, do it yourself, 30-45 mins job. The pipes are a little tricky to unclip, they push together and unclip rather than pull apart - the only tricky bit. Hope it helps someone in same situation as me.

    My W205 had a similar problem. The Adblue injector can often be cleaned up like new with warm water spray and a soft toothbrush. From memory, some JLR vehicles can have their Adblue tanks emptied easily for maintenance purposes. I think I recall W205 Adblue tank is 25 litres and cannot be easily emptied. Because my mileage is quite low, moving forward I am running my Adblue down to minimum and then only adding a maximum of 10 litres to reduce the chances of it going stale.

      Hi Michael, I'm aware they can be cleaned, I have done them before with hot water and using our ultrasonic machine, I also use our injector machine to give it a pulsing signal whilst it's cleaning it. It's not a long lasting solution, to guarantee our work we just change them now. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂👍

    What I have decided to do is buy a Topdon OBD 2 reader to reprogram it anytime the issue occurs

    I had this issue for a year and a half the kia garage tried to fix it but the injector kept clogging up. Finally the garage said the cooling to the injector wasn't sufficient due to an air lock in cooling system. However a few weeks later the issue returned. Kia couldnt fix it so i had to get it deleted just so i could drive

    Fantastic video very i impressed thanks.
    Is it a good idea to get this cleared the build up of ad blue every do often.
    I have c220 19 plate 40'000 miles.
    I do not have any fault codes.
    Is it a good idea to clean it.
    Also could you use a hoover and not remove the exhaust?

      Hi Nick, you could clean it with warm water, adblue is 67% water and the rest is urea, it just crystallizes and jams the nozzle open. The problem is usually due to poor storage of adblue, it's supposed to be stored in a cool dark place, not on a bright and warm forecourt of a petrol station! These are usually at half life or even expired due to the poor storage environment. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂👍

    Could the ADblue injector be cleaned&fixed in an ultrasonic cleaner?
    Root cause - Adblue tank should be emptied every two years and washed with hot water (Mercedes recommendation)?

    I've got the same code on my bmw 530d g31. Think my problem is the opposite with the injector closed as the adblue level never changes. Only used 12 litres in 34000 miles.

    Just one question .. my bmw had a similar issue with particle filter low efficiency , but when i clear the errors it takes about 500 km to error re appear, i tought i had some DPF clogged with 120K , maybe my issue is like yours with the adBlue system ... but tell me did the error re appear in your case or it is completly fixed? ... because, maybe my prob is the same like yours, nothing to do with the DPF

      Hi Gilberto, the AdBlue system is always after the DPF, not before. If you consistently use supermarket fuel or do very short journeys you can also have DPF issues! Get your mechanic to have a look at the live data for you. 🙂👍

    I have the same thing, is Abdbleu's problem? on the other hand here in Belgium I have never had a problem with the engine but as soon as I leave for Italy on my return, the engine is on, is it because of Diesel or Abdbleu?

    What causes this?
    Poor quality adblue? Or something else entirely?

      Just an injector failure, hard to pinpoint to what caused it. Poor storage reduces adblue quality the customer kept his and the cool garage and out of sunlight. Never buy adblue off a forecourt which has been exposed to sunlight.

    That is not a faulty delivery nozzle it is common to see this, the valve just needs cleaning Mercedes technical bulletin is to clean with warm soapy water. The correct check is to see if it injects the correct amount & sprays correctly. The seal needs replacing each time it’s removed too. The root cause of this is the Nox sensors. With a dealer Xentry system tests you’d be able to see the efficiency of each sensor their a known problem on all cars due to contamination & water in the exhaust system. Bottom line is it’s over injecting due to bad sensor data. The efficiency code gives you the clue.

      My computer say: the heater of nox sensor(cylinder bank 1)has a malfunction. Its the ad blue injector? I want to know for sure if its the problem there. What do you think?

      @@dianalupu that's not adblue injector fault, it's the NOx sensor fault. I would strongly suggest taking it to a garage for a proper investigation, these sensors are not cheap £350+
