Halo 3 was my first halo, and its overall my favorite, and it’s the best campaign cinematically and in terms of making you feel like a badass. It has the most epic moments in the halo franchise, but in my opinion not the best campaign. That has to go to halo 2

Multiplayer was the reason why this game stuck in my 360 for about 50% of the time until 2010, playing custom games with family and friends every friday night was some of the best gaming moments I ever had. What I love about a game like this is that every time you play it, it will never feel the same, and the are bound to be those "halo moments" that happen to you, ie the wheel of a brute chopper spinning half way across the map and then crushing you. This game's multiplayer was legendary, and 8 years one, those memories are still vivid in my head. What a year 2007 was for gaming...

When the community was there Halo 3 was so much of fun, forge parties, big team, mlg, it had it all. Halo 3 literally had a million players on every day.

You get vehicle combat in a warthog, get to use the hornet, use a tank to fight 2 scarabs at the same time, the spartan laser, open combat and close quarters combat, fight alongside the elites, fight alongside the flood. This mission was jam packed with everything you could ask for in a mission. It was awesome. Not overrated at all.
The point is there was no need to make a Halo 4 or to continue the story. In Halo 3, the humans stopped the convenant and the Halo from firing. They literally "finished the fight" and that has been the motto since game 1. Why would more games be needed if the Prophet and Convenant were defeated. The story/trilogy was at its end. 343 made up so much bullshit in one game, how could it have a fantastic campaign? Hardcover Halo fans can see through that bullshit and know the campaign was bad. And I know for a fact that people who even attempt to defend this game, Halo 4 was their first Halo game.
The only reason I didn't like it was because I was new to the game and that was like the hardest mission in the game. But I did enjoy seeing more of the flood
I think most people saw "Cortana" as a tedious slog through the worst the Flood have to throw at you. I thought the level design was really grotesque and repulsive though, just as you'd expect a Flood hive to be.
Halo 3 really is better. The pace is slightly slower, but this actually makes it feel more like a chess match. Every encounter is fun and lots of memorable moments
I got an xbox 360 for christmas in 2010 and it came with halo 3 that is how I got into fps games although it got scratched and I couldn't complete the campaign. :(
I miss 2008 so much, it was the time i got halo 3 and my first Xbox. Those years will be cherished in my memory of good times on live with my friends playing Slayer, Team deathmatch, and custom forge maps... Ill do anything to back to those days and relive it again, for old time sake
I never played Halo back in the day because I only played PC. Then I found Eldewrito/Halo Online and had a ton of fun messing around in forge and custom multiplayer with my friends, it was so amazing until microsoft sent the game a cease and desist and took it down. Now though with all of the Halos coming to PC, I hope when Halo 3 rereleases my friends will get back together to play it.

back when ign didnt suck up all the time. however, i personally find the Halo 3 campaign to be the best one made by bungie. its got the right amount of challenge on legendary (not the ball crusher that was halo 2 and CE, though not quite to the perfect level of challenge that 4 was), and yea, cortana is a shit level, but its better than the entire second half of CE where you are running through the same 4 levels you just beat only in reverse.

When I think of Halo 3, I think of Major League Gaming. I remember the days when my cousin and I would watch Final Boss beat everyone down at this game. So much fun. I feel like MLG's climax is over now. It's a shame that Final Boss is very split now. I don't play games anymore so I outgrew this type of stuff. The current Halo 4 competitions are just not the same. Maybe one day they'll be big again.
I just gotta say, Personally I LOVED The Halo 3 Campaign SURE it wasn't as good as Halo CE's but hell, I thought it was more dramatic, and memorable than Halo 2's.

If you ask me, the campaign was great. The cutscenes were epic. The sequences were epic. All of the levels were very wide open, which was really good. Besides the second to last level, the campaign was awesome. Just minor complaints gave this only a 9.5, but i do agree with IGN. Just think that if those were fixed up, it would of been at Least a 9.8

ODST used the same engine that H3 used and it was practically the same talking about gameplay, so it was developed probably in half a year, and halo reach was developed in 2 years. Halo CEA and Halo 4 are being developed by 343 inndustries.
So much nostalgia, this truly "was" an incredible. It truly shaped this current generation of games. My personal favorite times when playing Halo 3 was when foundry was released and suddenly all the creative custom games were created and I used to play all these fun custom games with a bunch of my friends.

I gave you a list that showed how Halo influenced other shooters and LAN parties where one of these influences. Yes Halo 4 did take them but what I am trying to say cod took many things from Halo, way more things than Halo. Halo didn't take them all, in fact Halo came up with some of those things he said and Halo revolutionized others i.e made them popular. Examples:

Especially with all those cool skull difficulty multipliers and 4 player co-op. The story was great and did a nice job at finishing the story IMO. Nobody seems to get the theme of Halo 3. It was about the bond between Chief and Cortana and it has a lot of heart and emotion to it.
343i says they might start working on its on halo 2's 10th anniversary (meaning the remake might be released on 2014) if they do, I hope they add the mission shown at E32003 when halo 2 was first shown to the public
I loved this game so muuch!! The thing that i miss about this game the most was custom games and going from lobby to lobby with random people playing different game types and maps. For some reason that never happened in reach or halo 4.

It was a very fun, but rage inducing mission. It was a pain since I was playing it on Legendary
other than cortana this was the most enjoyable campaign for me. 1 through 3 will always be my favorite but 3 takes the lead.

yeah, it can take up to 10 minuets (max) to find a match in TS but people still do play it. Especially on weekends

343i says they might start working on its on halo 2's 10th anniversary (meaning the remake might be released on 2014) if they do, I hope they add the mission shown at E32003 when halo 2 was first shown to the public

I loved this game so muuch!! The thing that i miss about this game the most was custom games and going from lobby to lobby with random people playing different game types and maps. For some reason that never happened in reach or halo 4.
