I was 99,9% convinced to make the switch from WordPress to Webflow but the absence of multilingual support really is a dealbreaker. I wanted to design a small hotel website with EN/DE/NL language support, which in WordPress can be done relatively easily through (free) plugins. Webflow’s answer for this is using Weglot, which is a paid service I cannot convince the client to pay extra for. I saw something about duplicating pages manually in Webflow but this is not a scalable solution and it undermines the SEO structure. There are no videos on UA-cam yet offering the solution so Ran, there might be an opportunity here :). Cheerio!
@@stijnjasper How’s that undermines the SEO structure? As far as I know, making a subfolder is superior to subdomain in most cases, e.g. yoursite.com/en is better than en.yoursite.com because the latter is a separate page - meaning, en.yoursite.com doesn’t help with yoursite.com’s SEO. I might be wrong about it though. Let’s see what Ran brings us next on this topic. Also, I do really hate lack of native multilingual support. I don’t think it will come out anytime soon because it seems like Webflow and Weglot have some sort of an agreement, no cap. Speculations lol. Still, Webflow gives you design freedom that Wordpress doesn’t. So it really depends on the project.
Awesome description on when to use webflow, I've been looking for this for some time, I am planning to upload content and modify on a weekly basis, want to build a personal customized website, thank you...webflow seems to fit my needs....
Wordpress with Divi is also very easy and no-code style. I can make nearly all I want and more with small css coding... But on top of everything, also webflow, good to have Frontend Dev skills. Plus, years ago I paid for lifetime Divi plan and now I'm building my sites free of charge. With webflow, there is constant, monthly fee. It is perfectly fine to pay once you arre on the level, when you build and sell your sites on regular basis, but starting your freelancer path and building one now and then, webflow is a monthly cost...
Did too. But still use webflow and then export code and work with that. The process of building a UI on webflow is much easier and less tedious than code.
Me too. I realized Webflow's limitations and then started my path to become a front-end developer. I am in that process yet and I love it. After that, I will become a back-end developer so I can create those functions that clients always ask for. Also, Webflow is very expensive! I quit for that reason too.
What setup would you recommend for a website to offer online course's, with quizzes, drip-feed content and the option to integrate webinars and podcast, etc. The whole deal... Can I do this with webflow? And if so, what integrations would I need?
it has been 3 years since this video, would love to know your opinion about webflow on the last 3 points. Are they stll the same or is it different in 2024?
Thanks Ran. I can't think of any other do/don't use cases but thanks for confirming that, for my area of interest, I was right to switch from WordPress/Elementor to Webflow and take your course!
I think Webflow is best for designing, whether front ends or backends...if you export them into your own VPS, then all the rest is irrelevant. That's how we use it anyway...we do the design in Webflow, then export the site, and translate the html into blade templates, which is really a trivial amount of work and something we still have to do if we did the design outside of Webflow (blade is for Laravel, but you could also easily translate them to Mustache or Handlebars as well). I don't' think I would host with Webflow unless I was making a site that I anticipated would have wild fluctuations in usage...although you could host on AWS and have the same dynamic scaling. For most of our use cases, the demand is pretty predictable. Whatever the end use, Webflow is a great design aid...really speeds things up.
That's interesting. So its possible to just get the design and functionality part out of the way when building a website then just go elsewhere possibly somewhere cheaper for security and hosting?

You kinda missed the big one. If you need CMS options, and you want to OWN you website, then Webflow is not the solution. As exporting it doesn't bring CMS with it. So you are stuck with Webflow's hosting.

Can you do a video comparing Webflow to Wix? Or do you have one? I'm a beginner definitely dont know UX/UI but I am considering learning as it can be a valuable skill farther ahead. I'm studying CS anyway so it wouldn't be a worthless skill to learn for me.
i want to create a website for my window cleaning business that is created in a way that is able to be optimized and works well on google. I am willing to learn how to do this for my own websites but not as career building sites for clients. I was going to use Webflow but i see from the advice that it is not probably the best option. Could you recommend something that would suit me.
I agree with using webflow only for customized presentation websites, but until you do it, you will encounter a cumbersome experience for building it. To make an online store with it or even a blog, it doesn't make sense, please consider many of the negative reviews on trustpilot of customers before choosing webflow, the technical support is difficult, you might get lost the project and if you want to make an online store, let it be the simplest, better choose wordpress or shopify, 100 times better choices.
Webflow would be a good platform to use if you don’t want to learn to code even though you need at least some HTML and CSS knowledge. Otherwise use figma and work with front end and back end developers instead.
Hey there! Can you please send your question to this e-mail? team@flux-academy.com. Please link the video to the e-mail so the team can better help you. :) Thanks!
Hi, I work in a factory and wanted to have a website to manage my production data, quantity produced, sku, register capacity, clients, sales. Currently I have a VBA application in excel that does all smoothly but I wanted to migrate all this to an online platform. Which platform do you recommend which can handle all this databases?
One of the main reasons I'm making a website is to have a big website with loads of products and to have users log in and store their information. I noticed you said Webflow wasn't good for this. What would be a good alternative and the best website to give me the freedom to make amazing things like Webflow but also give me that storage in user data and products? Thanks in advance.
How can I publish a website where some forms were able to write directly on a SQL SERVER Database? and also, make this website able to show information from there? Webflow could do it? or what tool could?
Summary: Pros of Webflow: Customization: Webflow allows for highly customizable marketing websites and designer portfolios. Ease of use for content updates: Webflow is easy to use for websites with regular content updates, such as blogs. Cons of Webflow: Not ideal for complex e-commerce websites: Webflow lacks features like user accounts, product customization, and multiple payment processors needed for advanced e-commerce websites. Not suitable for very large content websites: Webflow may not be able to handle the complexity of managing a large website with many editors. Learning curve for beginners:Webflow has a learning curve and may be difficult for beginners who are new to website building.
Beware... When Ran Segall says that Webflow is difficult to learn is only because he has a course to sell... That course is not much better that the actual free videos on the Webflow channel... Actually, I liked far more the free short YT videos... If the course had a more fair price I wouldnt say this but he oveprice it just to play with pshychology... Whn something is that expensive you value it more and even if you may think you got ripped off you brain will convince you that you made the right choice....
yeah you are completely right. In the course, he is telling that he only made one e-commerce website for a client and does not have that much experience with e-commerce. I mean what? You sell the expensive course and do not know the tool inside out? I am a little bit disappointed.
@@michalgazdik9103 He ceretainly knows how to sell. And think about it... Lokk at how much effort he made on his channel... Do you think someone with that amount of time and energy to put out content constantly is getting tons of clients every day?? He is a decent designer but he is not THAT good. And about Webflow, he knows the basic stuff which is normal. In Webflow theres not that much tools. It's either you know how to use them or you don't. But the UI itself is super easy to use, and if you know code it's super intuitive. It's much better to spend money on design fundamentals or typography courses than on his Skillshare level course...
Im a music, sound, and game designer, but i am VERY picky and templates never seem to have quite what I need. I’m using Wordpress now but its so meticulous with keeping plugins up to date that i may switch. Just had to edit php files. That was educational, but not fun.
Definitely SaaS. I also get a lot of inquiries from insurance agencies, lawyers, cybersecurity firms... really anyone who needs a marketing site like Ran said. Just depends on what they want to spend and the relationship they want to have with their web developer. I find this can really determine if webflow is the right platform for them.
Shopify is your best bet for this. Webflow has a limit of 500 or 1000 products you can add depending on your account tier. You need an enterprise account for unlimited products on Webflow. Shopify comes with unlimited number of products you can add regardless of your account tier.
I was in the process of building a large ecommerce website on Webflow. Will Udesly help with moving it to wordpress? I would hate redoing all the work all over again.
@@denniszenanywhere I have. the problem is that to get the desired look on the front end is really difficult or close to impossible. You have to work with a template.

Front end developers are ok with Webflow but I notice that back-end developers feel left out. I don't see UX design of back end sites as much? Is there such a thing?
I had to answer this, backend programing doesn't need UX because the clients don't see the backend. They rather need a database design or some sort of software architecture.
@@aprodan5245 I agree with you. Backend programming doesn't need UX but follow-up question, why do some engineers ask it anyway, if it's at all possible given that there is one for front end? I know it's not an easy question to answer but it did came up in a meeting with software engineers.
I want to design a UI for a backend developer running laravel/react , its mainly textual database content. I mainly want to be able to format the screen and give the dev something he can use. currently am using word processor and the dev is doing his best with that, but the result isn't great. I haven't done much web design, but I think I know what I want to achieve. figma seems more orientated towards phone apps, but we are just using Web. webflow seems orientated towards full site deployment. what should I use.
Use figma, it can do practically anything web design related. Since you just want to show something to the dev, that's all you need. Webflow is unnecessary here imo

great helpful content! Do you actually ever drink from that bottle or is it part of the table?
wtf
Can this be used for custom user based blog like show users only the interested content based on categories.
what a great video - so helpful ... but what do you think of people that wanna do online counselling services? or selling any ebooks/guides? I am thinking of going with webflow! :)
@flux its 2022 now, what's your view on using webflow for multi product eccomerence websites?
Would you recommend for a marketing agency, to have full creative control? Worried about video uploads due to peoples comments regarding slowing down the website.
Can webflow be used to create investment platform with user management dashboard?
Can you do a video comparing Webflow to Wix? Or do you have one? I'm a beginner definitely dont know UX/UI but I am considering learning as it can be a valuable skill farther ahead. I'm studying CS anyway so it wouldn't be a worthless skill to learn for me.
i want to create a website for my window cleaning business that is created in a way that is able to be optimized and works well on google. I am willing to learn how to do this for my own websites but not as career building sites for clients. I was going to use Webflow but i see from the advice that it is not probably the best option. Could you recommend something that would suit me.
thank you for the advice dude!
This was very helpful!
What is the best builder for a media company website? 😃
I'm studying to become a UX Designer and I'm hoping to get some freelance clients. Would Webflow be a good platform to learn?
Do tag me when you got the answer. We're kinda in the same boat. hehehehe
.
Webflow would be a good platform to use if you don’t want to learn to code even though you need at least some HTML and CSS knowledge. Otherwise use figma and work with front end and back end developers instead.
Ran, how do you think, is Webflow good for building restaurant website with order form forwarding to messanger?
Hey there! Can you please send your question to this e-mail? team@flux-academy.com. Please link the video to the e-mail so the team can better help you. :) Thanks!
@@FluxAcademyI have sent my question to that email~ Thanks!
question guys if I want to build something with the idea of like Uber or Airbnb witch way to go?
Hi, I work in a factory and wanted to have a website to manage my production data, quantity produced, sku, register capacity, clients, sales. Currently I have a VBA application in excel that does all smoothly but I wanted to migrate all this to an online platform. Which platform do you recommend which can handle all this databases?
Check out servicenow
One of the main reasons I'm making a website is to have a big website with loads of products and to have users log in and store their information. I noticed you said Webflow wasn't good for this.
What would be a good alternative and the best website to give me the freedom to make amazing things like Webflow but also give me that storage in user data and products?
Thanks in advance.
Shopify
What’s the best no-code for building apps?
How can I publish a website where some forms were able to write directly on a SQL SERVER Database? and also, make this website able to show information from there?
Webflow could do it? or what tool could?
If you build up the same business like "Boiler Room", would you roccomend webflow for it?
Summary:
Pros of Webflow:
Customization: Webflow allows for highly customizable marketing websites and designer portfolios.
Ease of use for content updates: Webflow is easy to use for websites with regular content updates, such as blogs.
Cons of Webflow:
Not ideal for complex e-commerce websites: Webflow lacks features like user accounts, product customization, and multiple payment processors needed for advanced e-commerce websites.
Thank you for this content.
I currently have a Squarespace site...do you have a video for how to move all of the content on that site to Webflow?
not possible
Your bottle is always cool Ran!
Then who's the targeted clients for Webflow?
SaaS + one product store
Definitely SaaS. I also get a lot of inquiries from insurance agencies, lawyers, cybersecurity firms... really anyone who needs a marketing site like Ran said. Just depends on what they want to spend and the relationship they want to have with their web developer. I find this can really determine if webflow is the right platform for them.
@@crarls27 thanks fir this.
Just use an outsource backend and you can build large CMS websites and large e-commerce websites.
Do you have any examples or do you recommend a specific software for the backend piece?
Your youtube channel deserve more!
Such a honest no BS video!
What should we use instead.
What's about for a small banking platform?
You may hate wordpress, but there are million dollar stores run on Wordpress+Woo Commerce
If somebody needs a functional eshop with many products which platform you prefer?
Shopify is your best bet for this. Webflow has a limit of 500 or 1000 products you can add depending on your account tier. You need an enterprise account for unlimited products on Webflow. Shopify comes with unlimited number of products you can add regardless of your account tier.
I have WP store with 25000 products and it working perfectly
Can I start blogging with wordpress
Everyone recommends it, all I have to do is choose a good theme right? 😢
How does Webflow compare with Yootheme Pro?
Why would I hate working with Wordpress? Those kind of comments sound so unprofessional… not funny at all.
Does webflow have database, i want to build job board using only webflow is it possible
this is not possible with webflow. avoid it.
I was in the process of building a large ecommerce website on Webflow. Will Udesly help with moving it to wordpress? I would hate redoing all the work all over again.
Have you considered Shopify or BigCommerce?
@@denniszenanywhere I have. the problem is that to get the desired look on the front end is really difficult or close to impossible. You have to work with a template.
@@stephennjoroge1303 I can relate. But isn't an e-commerce site's UX design almost similar to each other? Unless, of course, you're talking about the visual design which is a different challenge entirely.
I had issues using Udesly just for basic blog and never converted...
@@denniszenanywhere The Visual Design for me is the issue. Most of these templates out there have a lot of clatter and don't always look as appealing as having a custom design for yourself
Since I see webflow literally everywhere these days, I love that you also shared the cons or just things we should consider before using it. ^_^
Thoooo I’m already webflow user myself LOL ☠️ this is still insightful!! ❤️
I know it's not an easy question to answer but it did came up in a meeting with software engineers.
according to you which is best webflow or coding?
@EstieChoi, What kind of websites do you build using Webflo
If you hate working with WordPress, then why is the goprospero.com website made with WordPress?
That was in the past. He already sold Propero...
@@yaktojason Yes have ended up using it, but it is so complicated (not impossible) I don't have the time to learn it. Am contracting it out on gig basis fairly cheaply.
@@tonystanley5337 If you think figma is difficult I'm just glad you didn't try to mock something up in webflow 😅
@@yaktojason Well I can use it, but to make something professional is harder, there are like 4 controls for text alone.
@@yaktojason I want to create UI and Front by myself. I have Back-end dev in my team. Would it be wise to use Webflow to build UI and Front only? Thanks
Thanks. For my requirements I need something else.
