Wow what a pleasant surprise to put a face to such a well known voice! I’ve got the PRX in Ice Blue and do like it, but like others have noted, the finishing obviously exposes the low price tag. I have a Bel Canto on order largely thanks to your review. I’ve been a fan of CW and the Bel Canto will be my first one. The 12 looks great.
It is nice that they finally revealed their mugs to us huh? Although it was a stroke of brilliance to keep hidden all this time, it definitely added a degree of mystery that brought non-watch people to the channel. I swear when the British folk get something right, they smash it out of the park (that’s a baseball reference for you chaps). 😂
The expression „smash it out of the park“ is much older than baseball and even the USA!
@@cosmodoc No, “hit it out of the park” comes from baseball.
the Bell Canto is hyped for no reason. Prolly paid advertising
@@Sexiestmanalive01 Isn’t that what this watch world is all about?
For whatever it’s worth, I thought this video had a much better blend of Andrew’s piece to camera and B-roll footage than the last video did. Keep up the awesome work!
I’m loving the steel / glacier blue 40mm . A lot of watch for the money . I’ve been a fan of CW for a few years now , first the bronze with distressed blue dial then trident 300 with white dial , I’m kinda hooked on the brand , need to calm down a bit but could be spending it on worse things I suppose 😂
I have it, it’s even better when it’s in front of you
Own the PRX since 2021 and love it….but I could hold the twelve in my hands on a watch-Community-Meeting at the weekend and must say, that it is indeed a more refined watch, really great, well done CW 👍🏻
Christopher Ward wins.unfortunately not available in India. If we buy online the custome duty would be 40 percent
The way I see it, PRX is still the way to go for the lower priced quartz option, but the CW makes the Powermatic PRX a tougher sell.
@@waffle911 I mean, for a Twelve on a metal bracelet it's still near as damn double the price of the PRX so there's enough of a gap for both to have their niche.
edit - Just realised they've increased the RRP PRX from £565 to 610, although there are still legit sites selling it for the original RRP.
@@waffle911 Right, the quartz option is another segment. I would suggest, if you have enough money, go for the CW, otherwise you also will be happy with the PRX, two great watches.
@@donmongoose I suppose "tougher sell" is a bit strong, but I maintain that it's "less of a no-brainer" when you are really getting that much more when you spend the extra for the CW.
Unfortunately, the Christopher Ward after sales support is non existant. I have been trying to get my watch repaired under warranty for over 2 years now. I suggest giving them a hard pass.
The CW 12 is a more refined and better overall watch. In comparison to other integrated bracelet watches with the same fit and finish, the 12 is a very good buy. Understandably, even at $1200+ this is still a stretch for many to consider, and that is ok. The PRX is a good option for those with a budget of under 1K. Let's celebrate the merits of both watches for where they are, and for who they are for because in the end the owners of either watch will be very satisfied with their purchase.
Well said.
The CW designers merely asked "is it possible?" not "should we?" in regards to the complexity and details of their watch design. The result: a mismatch of different design elements, awkwardness and lack of cohesion. The Tissot on the other hand, while yes it may not have the detail of the CW, is far more aesthetically pleasing and balanced as a design. Sometimes less is more. Hence why the Tissot looks good 50 years later, and the twelve will look outdated in about 10 years.
@stanleyjohnson8579 I appreciate your thoughts but disagree. I own the 12, and there is nothing awkward about it, in my opinion. It wears great, looks great, runs good... good buy.
@@Sturnburn772 legit take, PRX looks like a timeless classic, while CW is a clusterfuck from a design perspective
For me it’s the PRX love the design more, the twelve tries to do a little too much, the only design I like more is the Zenith, so I brought the black automatic and then the blue, green, white lume and gold 40mm quartz. Too me the PRX is Perfect!
I was looking and the Christopher Ward website yesterday and salivating over the CW Twelve. I have the PRX which I love, but the CW Twelve is definitely a step up in design and finishing. It looks like a far more expensive watch than it actually is. I find the twelve-sided bezel very appealing, and the dial design give a much more three-dimensional appearance than the PRX. I also like the fact that they didn't use plastic parts in the movement, my biggest concern with my PRX. I do hope this becomes a permanent model offered by Christopher Ward and not a limited-time offer, as I might be willing at some point to replace the PRX with a Twelve. BTW, has anyone taken a look at their upcoming moon complication watch? Very, very interesting!
For me the Twelve has a little bit too much going on. There is the base shape, crowngards, then the dodecahedronal bezel. The dial patern is lovely tho, but the markers and hands in grey against wihte? As a whole it really seems to me to be trying a bit too complex for its own good. The PRX on the other hand is very ledgeble, well judged and simple.
I feel like the 12 should have a larger bezel. I can barely tell it's not circular with how thin it is.
I own both and felt the 12 didn't live up to Internet hype. Personally I wear the prx more in the last month of dual ownership
What didn’t it live up to btw? Just curious
@patrik3450 hey pal, thanks for askin as I should probably update my feelings. Ultimately the initial hype however after prolonged use there is no comparison. The two watches are in different leagues. Though both have seen water, sea and hot tubs, and performed with confidence the CW is every bit its price tag and probably more. Over two months it only lost a min. The Prx begins to feel cheap in comparison. Both get the same compliments imo and I think its purely a price point. If u are on a budget the prx will do but its the 12 you want
@@buffalo182so why cw won you over time? What quality diff?
As previously stated it just 'feels' quality on the wrist. Like a comparing a full HD to 4k TV in a store there's an obvious difference but if only had the Full HD at home you would be more than happy. The PRX is still a win and I would recommend it but realistically once u have both on wrist they are different leagues
I've got the gold, quartz prx. I'm not a huge Genta fan but felt I had to have something in this line to add to my collection. It's gold, blingy and a bit like the Vacheron Constantin. It makes me smile, and nice as the Christopher Ward is, that'll do me. Over a grand kinda takes the fun out of it and though I think it looks great, it's too much of a homage to shell out for .
I’ve also got hype gold pvd quartz PRX. It’s the only gold watch I could find that comes in at an affordable price, has good finishing, and a legit design heritage. Alternatives in gold at the price are Nixon and Michael Kors… no thanks.
The bracelet is such a joy, and it’s so comfortable! Plus I actually like that it’s quartz because it’s in line with the history of the design. Bonus that it’s nice to have a watch in my collection that I can just pick up and wear with no fuss!
Damn right you say. Such a nice watch on the wrist, glad I got the gold one when its initially launched! Cheers
Came for the hands, but got the face as a bonus. 😊 Great review and comparison.
I like the PRX better, purely because it's a cleaner and more simple design. I find the 12 cluttered with stuff, especially dislike the crown guards and the bracelet taper.
I’d go for the Twelve all the time, but if I was pushed for money, then yes it would be the Tissot PRX.
That nick under the “screw” at 2:19 would absolutely drive me crazy.
I would never be able to tell the time because I know my eye would go right there every time I looked at the watch.
It’s like that little tiny spot of tan paint on the edge of my white ceiling where I didn’t tape well enough.
No one else sees it, but every time I walk in the room my eye goes right to it.
The PRX > The Twelve (can't be the bang for your buck with the Tissot)
Tissot is just more accessible in more places. And the PRX continues to be my goal to have this year, quartz or auto.
Go Auto, much nicer.
@SEAVEE2 it shares the same bracelet (exact same part number), the same case.
It's the dial and movement which are different
I'm not sure I'd say it's "much nicer"
I would go quartz. It’s the same construction as the auto, cheaper, thinner, less headache servicing in the future. For me it’s justifiable 400ish dollars against the 700 for the auto
Quartz is in keeping with the heritage of the original design, and convenient if being worn in rotation within a collection :)
If you keep the face time to a minimum, in contrast to the previous video, with dominant run-time on hands-on, then I guess I can live with the change. Still, the previous 100% talking hands reviews are much preferred.
it is always diminishing returns as u climb up. CW seems to however offer a VERY appetizing and practical return at their level. Insanely hard to compete imho. Ez choice for me at the end of the day. I have tiny wrists.
I've been following Andrew on this channel for 4 years now, and it feels like we all grown up now that it is no more just talking hands here
Get the look for about a quarter of the price of the 12 by getting a PRX quartz. OK the dial isn’t so decorated but the sunburst dial of the quartz is in itself very nice. (And more accurate and no servicing costs down the line).
And even you did have the budget for any variation of either watch … imo the waffle dial of the PRX auto is better anyway. I find the CW is too hard to read, it e light contrast to my eye.
It drives me insane that the prx quartz can't have the seconds hand hitting the markers...
@@davidf3974 some do some dont, youve got to get it in person and see unfortunatly
If they had a solar quartz I'd pick it up no problem.
Quartz watches are against my religious beliefs.
Found it impossible to decide, ended up getting both. Find the PRX a tad more casual, so nice to have a variety of uses for them. Both unbelievable quality and I’m thrilled with them.
When I tried on the PRX, it felt incredibly cheap, like a plastic toy watch. Does the CW twelve feel more solid and higher quality?
@@divertiti it’s a night an day difference. The CW feels like a £10k watch.
If you could keep only one which?
@@Dreamwunder CW - the thing is extremely good quality. Also, I get asked about it every day I wear it to the office, it's a great conversation topic. I think the lack of ostentatiousness CW has a brand lends itself nicely to this outcome.
Which material and dial colour did you choose for the CW?
Anyone notice how jagged/rough/uneven the edges of the AP logo looked @2:45?
Have my The Twelve (ti) on order, and for the price: the look, the styling, the materials, the fact it's a chronometer - it's all worth it. I looked seriously at the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 (the Blue Waffle, closest to The Twelve I ordered), but there is just something off about its dimensions that stopped me. Plus I have other CW watches...and I'm a Brit.
I had automatic PRX, I sold it and after few months I missed it and regret selling so I bought the quartz. Now, after few months I again think about PRX Powermatic... Yeah maybe that's stupid but there is just something undeniably attractive in this watch. I looked at Chris Ward Twelve from any angle and despite understanding that it is more refined and it could have COSC movement it is just not convincing. The dial is too busy and actually overdesigned in premium titanium version.
On the other hand PRX Powermatic appears to be perfectly balanced visually.
I'd like to grab the power matic. It's just too large for my wrist. I settled on the 35mm. I really like it so far. Very elegant.
@@popamonkey190 Well I have 17 cm wrist, and I think that's the shortest circumference one should approach 40 mm versions without it appearing too oversized.
I've been waiting for this. Thankyou I've now made my mine up
Christopher Ward has a lot of problems with their quality control, and not enough team to support the watches they sell. If you receive a watch that works it's great, but a lot arrive not working or with damage and it's a long and difficult process to get it replaced.
I like the prx even without considering price point.. once this comes in to play the prx is even more clear
What a nice surprise to see the face behind a such a well known voice! I'm a happy owner of the PRX and although the loom is... well there is no loom, and the hands are flat, it's a fantastic watch overall. The bracelet is fantastic and the dial has a great depth to it, the 80h power reserve is so, so useful. Can easily go well with any causal as well as more formal cloths. Highly recommend, is the 12, 2x as good for almost 2x the price... I hope to find out one day.
Any Grand Seiko staff will be rolling on the floor with laughter, looking at the rough edges on the AP logo at 2:44.
Agreed.
Yup. And yet, there is no-one who wouldn't take the AP over a Grand Toyota given the choice.
@@ivanharlokin Grand Seiko!!!!! The "Toyota" label is a bit dumb. You wouldn't call a Nomos a VW. I'm sure there will be multiple "someone's" who'd take a Grand Seiko over the AP. Taste is subjective and not everyone lusts after the AP.
Grand Seiko all day everyday
@@alunjones2550 I would take a GS over an AP any day.
I believe CW is a fantastic brand. It makes me feel something in my heart when I browse through their website or see this model here for example.
It's a mature brand ( 15 years ? 20 ? ), I hope they'll remain in their price bracket, I think it's a fair one. And the SW 200 is the more traditionnal, easy to service movement.
As for the PRX : killer look, especially in 35mm ( auto ), for me at least. I can wear the 40mm CW but the same sized PRX is a no go for my wrist.
I would also say in favor of the PRX, that it is more subdued than the CW which, for an everyday sport watch, is easier to...sport.
I hesitated for a month before ordering a titanium Twelve with bracelet and rubber strap. The reason - the realisation that if I got the Twelve I would probably never wear my PRX again as the Twelve is an upmarket replacement for the PRX. I can afford it and I expect it will give me more, in every department, than the PRX but it won't give me anything new over the PRX. I think, buy one or the other, but not both. I won't get the Twelve until November so I'm hoping that I'm being a bit pessimistic...
Love seeing your faces guys. But I enjoyed the two microphones format better. It made your channel unique and separated you from the competition.
I also think he should stop showing his face again😂. Seriously though😅.
Hmmm, there will be more PRX-Style-watches in the future, I mean, for less than 1000 Euros or GBP, but I think the PRX is the general concept, it is somehow the "original" in that price range, because Tissot did such a good job. And of course, I bought the classic blue dial 80.
just wait for the july release for tissot prx 36mm in mother of pearl
Haven’t tried the CW Twelve, but it is probably such a great watch. I’m a huge fan of CW because of the cost/quality ratio, but I think I’ll go PRX on this one
For the money and name I would choose the prx quartz with the green dial it’s cheaper and tissot is better known around the world so people will recognize it more plus the green dial quartz is just a very eye catching color
Cw12 has a look that’s appealing at first but the more you look into it, it is too flashy and combination of other renowned watched. Prx is classy and i don’t get tired looking at it. Especially the new 35mm!
I'm presently (impatiently!) waiting for my Titanium Blue version to ship. Really looking forwards to seeing how this watch shapes up!
I’d be interested to see Tissot build a PRX Pro, up the fit and finish, and charge something like $1000 for it.
Would be interesting but I am pretty sure it is their best selling watch so why change it up
@@aaronmauer7225 this would be in addition to their current product, not a replacement. As far as why? That’s simple… PROFIT.
I just bought the gold 40mm Tissot mechanical PRX which looks lovely. Although there is a 35mm version now too. But I prefer the large case; it fits comfortably on my 7.5-inch wrist. The finish details you mention are not noticeable in real life, especially to older eyes like mine where I need reading glasses often to read text and dates on watch dials. The PRX movement is great with its long power reserve and is effectively in-house, though shared across other brands within the Swatch platform. It is much cheaper when you factor in price, even with the non-quartz Tissot. In this sort of budget range, this is significant. If I were paying out much larger sums, a few hundred pounds wouldn't be critical. But if I am looking for a better quality finish, I'd choose say my Omega Aqua Terra which has both a superb in-house movement and better finish.
You have a face that watch lovers and mother's can appreciation! Nice seeing it on the channel. 😁
I loved the video. A great comparison as always. The first time I’ve seen your face! It was great to pair it with your voice. Cheers!
A gold PRX is the pure filthy fun you can't replicate with the twelve or an AP.
Both great watches but if I had to choose between the two, I would be going with the PRX. CW's finishing is certainly nicer but it doesn't do it in a way that makes it necessarily more appealing than the PRX. I could certainly understand one jumping to RO or OS after having owned a PRX, but CW just looks like a PRX that tried a bit harder and feels really redundant to have.
It’s like Aussie Man Reviews - here’s my face! Great vid as always and the ‘face to camera’ works nicely. Good job 🎉
(You didn’t mention the more expensive titanium version of the 12… ❤)
I own the PRX and I’m very happy with it. Especially since I got a Delugs rubber strap to fit it. I am waiting for my bel canto, which should come in a month or two.
Love my PRX. Probably going to order the 12. Really a great design.
PRX for the win. All day long.
Finally happy to see the face behind the most gentleman voice I have ever heard!
The true price of CW is $1400 here in the US with the steel bracelet.
I wish they offered better coloured dials with the higher grade movement or offered the higher grade movement in steel, then it’s no longer a PRX comparison and some big question about the cost of the IWC ingenieur!
I want the chronometer in the steel case... then I'll ditch my prx
i never like the PRX but people hyping over The Twelve makes me like the RPX
I did like Christopher Ward. In 2020 on their Christmas sale I purchased green C65 diver. Loved it. Next year on the same sale I purchased C1 Moonglow. The watch broke in one hour. I was upset, sent it back for refund. After that, my C65 movement broke, had to send it for repair, and after about two months I had back it on my wrist. One month later, one of the hour marks on the dial fell off. Couple weeks passed and the fixed watch was back on my wrist. A moth ago, three(!) hour marks fell of the dial... The watch is in repair now and CW says it will take long because they have restructure in their repair department (no wonder). So, for the father's day, I purchased Tissot PRX 80 ice blue. Never had Tissot before but love the design. Thinking about CW hour marks felling of the dial... I'm done with this brand.
😮 wow crazy story
@@MassaKingWOfficialDon’t believe everything that is posted on the internet…. 😂
I like the case shape of the CW a little bit more. That said I own the PRX powermatic 80 and its amazing. It looks great and i couldnt be happier with it. I do find the minute markers and the the logo of the CW kinda meh. The dial is also a bit overdone imho. I'm glad I got the PRX. Both nice watches though
The 12 is way too busy, the PRX is as it should be in my opinion.
Would be interesting to see a comparison of the CW12 and the Nivada F77?
Prx. The perfect cheap rival to the royal oak. As concerns the plastic not exactly, polymeric parts, are more durable than the stainless steel ( don't need rubines and extra lubrication). But the most crucial profit is the antimagnetic characteristic and the lower maintenance cost. As prx rival, as VC fun , i would prefer a Maen.
You would prefer a man...or men?
@@troymcclure8851 Maen manhatan 37.
@@dimitrisbastas739 you prefer a 37 year old man from Manhattan?
Love the new style of video with the head-on shots. How important do you think the use of plastic parts in the Powermatic 80 C07.111's is? I can't really find reputable sources on whether it is likely to harm longevity or function.
Movement won't get serviced either way, they'll just replace it with a new one.
The Duty fees add to the cost of the CW so that's a consideration in the final cost however I have been tempted over the years to buy a CW. The discontinuation of discount codes is discouraging to help offset Import fees to the USA.
I agree with what you said but: 1. I like more how the Tissot looks. 2. Tissot comes in that Ice Blue that's crazy, I looked for it in half Germany and after 2 months I found it in Basel. Bought it on the spot and man, this is a nice watch.
Both are very cool! Thank you!!!
And now it would be interesting to actually do the rest of the line-up. Maurice Lacroix Aikon, Zenith Defy Skyline, Chopard Alpine Eagle, Girard Perregaux Laureato, Czapek Antarctique, and AP Royal Oak. - The Twelve is the more refined watch when compared to the PRX, no question about it. Yes the Twelve is an homage, so is the PRX. So if one wanted to spend money on any of the homages, then those extra £400 are worth it.
The CW for me….I’ve ordered the Twelve Ti Astral Blue on the black rubber strap. The Sellita 300 movement being far superior to the 200 used in the Steel model. Having said that I really like the Steel variant too especially with the Glacier Blue dial.
"Far superior?" ... a tad better, maybe.
In Spain, you can find the PRX Powermatic 80 new for 620€ or so while the Twelve is 1.350€ (both on bracelet and VAT included). I think they are competing in different classes. The PRX is the low budget king under 1k while the Twelve is one great option to consider when you have a 2k budget, since I think is the best in its price range.
I was blown away by My CW I have a small collection of six watches the most expensive being £18K but I never feel anything but happy and content wearing my CW
Pound for pound the PRX is still the better watch imo, it does more at its price point than the twelve does. The CW logo is so off putting but please don’t forget, only a few months ago the prx was “Luxury under 1k” don’t be a sheep and jump off the hype train. P.s I don’t own either 😂
I prefer the new format of these videos. Good to see the face behind the iconic voice! I wouldn’t normally comment, but felt the need to balance out the “Remainers/Reactionaries”!
say whatever you want, prx with waffle dial specially in blue looks way better than the weird shape on the twelve no matter how intricate it is.
The video ive been waiting for. Well done Andrew.
Great review. As always. 👍👍👍
Whenever I hear the story of how brands like AP successfully persuaded the public that mechanical watches were superior to quartz due to some elusive quality, it breaks my heart. If not for this unfortunate history, we might already have affordable quartz movements comparable to the Citizen 0100 or Seiko 9F today.
I considered the 12, but chose the Ice Blue PRX Powermatic, and I can't stop looking at it. It's a stunning watch. The busy dial texture and the logo on the 12 remind me of fashion watches. Also the more rounded case shape with a much thinner bracelet on the 12 just didn't do it for me. Imo Tissot is much more effortless and captures the Genta aesthetic much better.
Both are great at their respective price..
Like simplicity of my blue quartz PRX on a leather strap bur sitting on a fence with the 12. There is bit too much going on with all the finishing details which is why I'd like to try it on before deciding if I want one.
When Tissot release a 35mm PRX Powermatic 80 I think that will just about be the perfect t watch for under £1000
waiting for the prx 35mm automatic ice blue dial or maybe i just buy the green one, such hard choices
Just bought a 12. Love it on both the strap and bracelet. Good for all occasions.
I think the PRX have a more stand out original design and looks better.
A cleaner and more balanced design overall!
Ironically, my first foray into watches was a Tissot, my second was a Christopher Ward. I’ll never buy another Tissot as there are many comparable, but I’d buy another CW any day of the week. Dollar for dollar, there really aren’t many offerings that can compare - as you mentioned it’s direct to consumer approach certainly makes it a more economical.
I don’t see them as directly comparable, since the price difference is significant. That said, I own 3 CW’s and hope to add the 12 in the future, as well as other models. Value for money is always on offer at CW. As for these two watches, they’re both great, imo, but at different price points.
Comparing the Twelve to a PRX isn't a great comparison due to the significant price difference.
I'd love to see a side by side with a Tudor Royal instead.
Isn’t that an even more significant price jump?
@@BlitzShott you're actually right. For some reason I remembered a PRX PM80 being much cheaper than it is currently (like, half the price).
It's still a comparison I'd love to see, given that there's already about 20 videos on the twelve Vs the PRX but none Vs the royal.
Both are very cool, hard choice but I think I would go for the CW.
I just brought a prx powermatic 80 in 40mm. I planned on buying the 35mm but once I seen it in person, the size difference is drastic. The 35mm in this kind of style watch isn’t for me
How big is your wrist?
@@keemfromqueenz I don’t have exact measurements but it’s under 7 inches. I have a small size wrist. If I would have brought the 35mm I could have gotten use to it. But I believe the 40mm was a better choice for everyday wear.
Great review, nice to conclude that both are winning watches, with slightly different appeals. 😊
I own the ice blue PRX PM80 and it’s fantastic given the price. I’ve never seen a CW Twelve irl but based on the quality of the C60 Trident 300 I have I would agree the CW is a more refined watch in almost every way. But for a difference of $550 usd for the bracelet models plus import duties on the CW, I think the PRX is still the better value.
I think its unfair to include import duties to the price when making a price comparison
@@UserKR13 If the import duties are nessecary to get the watch I understand the inclusion but i get your point
@@UserKR13 it’s part of the purchase cost therefore it’s fair.
@@HonoluluBlue81dont think you get it
@@kubilayakgul4937 yea i understand but when comparing watches side by side in terms of value, its not exactly fair to add another 20% for example on one piece just because of the region you are in.
Christopher Ward doesn't make anything that appeals to me at the moment - I came pretty close to getting their Trident 300 last year. And their dabbling with limited editions for some of their watches irritates me.
And yet I'm glad that they exist and are doing what they do. I feel that their approach to design and production is quite innovative and have a lot to offer the industry.
Boring , unaspiring , copy paste brand with no heritage or their own design language and terrible name to boot. Dont understand why these watch influencers are hyping it up at all.
@@Psysso that's part of my issue with them. Slightly expensive homages mostly. Even their Bel Canto is essentially Grand Seiko Kodo with a chime instead of a Tourbillon.
@@kiljaeden7663 I understand they are very well made and machined but at this price point this just isnt enough.
You do amazing work. Thank you
The PRX is a no brainer in this comparison
Dymmmmn hahaha nice to see your face finally sir , love your content since day 1 (before bought by the big brother) . 🍻 👏 ✌️. To be honest I would prefer CW because of the detail on the dial ; not stamped... while PRX dial is stamped....
i got the quartz PRX as i have too many autos and needed a reference or grab and go . Also the plastic powermatic put me off and its slow 3 hertz movement. If Tissot had put in an ETA 2824 then maybe as i dont care about the 80 hours power reserve as i swich watches daily . Will definitely buy the 12 , it is perfect in titanium. But i will wait as there are other watches i have my eye on
Both are nice and I don’t want either.
Tissot - 34mm or 35mm auto version, please!
CW - Woa there. Maybe tone it down a bit? Individually, the different shapes, facets, layers, etc. are great, but together the watch is just a bit much. There’s so much going on, my eyes don’t know where to go, which is a shame because it appears to be a great watch!
It's not the pricing for me, when it comes to the CW. In fact, I think the Titanium The Twelve versions are a good deal at $1,900usd. I like CW also. I just don't love this watch. The quality and standards are there for the money at $1,225usd. It's an opinion - I don't ike the dial texture. I think it looks cheap. Or, maybe just too "try hard." I'm sure people think the PRX dial looks cheap too. ( HOWEVER, I think both Titanium versions of the CW look really sick, though. And, if they limited the dial texture to those 2 models I would've much more appreciated that, personally.) I haven't examined it in person, and I own a PRX, so it's not exactly unbiased opinion. I don't think the The Twelve's bracelet tapers enough, either. That's what might be giving it a better fit on the wrist. Full disclosure - my wrists are like a mortadella so I can wear clocks, as well as gentlemen's timepieces.
(I also own a Tudor Royal 41mm; Which is the dopest integrated bracelet watch that no one talks about and it can be had under $2,000usd. And, you can get it in a 38mm and 2 smaller sizes for even less $.)
The price point of $1,225usd is still amazing when comparing to integrated bracelet watches from any major brand besides Tissot. Tissot was always going for a humble, honest approach with the PRX, though. I'd rather have an awesome Trident or Sealander from CW and grab a PRX from the grey market for the same money as a steel The Twelve, though.
I own the prx and the royal 41 as well, the prx hits that beater value category and the royal, well, it has identity. I would choose it over the cw ti any day because of its character. Understated tudor lineup, I feel like it needs the black bay 36/39/41 treatment to really get the recognition it deserves
@@davidf3974 At first, the Royal seemed almost too simple. But, it quickly unveiled that the simplicity is what makes it so pleasing. It looks uncomplicated, but then the subtle curvatures and captivating proportions...it became so surprisingly satisfying to wear. I really love that watch. I don't think mine is gonna leave my collection.
@@davidf3974 and, also in agreeance, the value of the PRX was enticing. And it's also why I probably won't get rid of mine because it's not worth parting with it for the amount I'd get if I sold it. I just like it too much...eh, watch world problems, huh? lol!
I wish the PRX had better lume; otherwise its an awesome watch and a great, first automatic to start my journey in watches.
I don’t want to nitpick but the word AUTOMATIC is not centred vertically on the AP. Ouch
Thanks for the comparison. You mention the PRX's difficulty in accommodating smaller wrists. How is the 12 in that regard?
prx 35mm coming out next few months, the 12 would fit the same since it’s the same kind of configuration with the bracelet, they’re releasing a 36mm in September.
@@MADLITS1K they won’t fit the same (likely) same size and style doesn’t mean same fit necessarily. The PRX is blocky and leaves a large gap due to its dimensions at the wrist ends (for smaller wrists). Initial reviews of the 12 suggest is has better sizing and contours better.
I have seen people with 6 inch wrists pull it off no problem. It tapers better and is less boxy than the PRX.
They are bringing out 36mm later but honestly, that could be too small.
@@MADLITS1K yeah it wears completely different to a Rolex Submariner. Diameter doesn't equate to absolute sizes lug to lug is also important. Rolex lug to lug is 47mm christopher ward 12 is 44.5mm. You should try one on before spewing rubbish...
@@MADLITS1K do you work at a Rolex AD? Because if you don't. You should. You're about childish enough 😂
This video came out literally on the day I was contemplating between the 2 and I still can’t decide! 😅
I would take the PRX!! For me, it's just a matter of design what I like better about the PrX! But how good the quality of these two watches is, only an expert can know. It is enough to know that the watch has sapphire glass and is water resistant to 100 meters and has an automatic movement with an 80 hour power reserve, I am not interested in anything else!
Brother, when comparing two watches, the colors of the dial should be as similar as possible
Get to a modern 70+ hours of power reserve, and the Christopher Ward might be the better deal…
Wow, You must have a very busy life if you dont have the time to wind a watch every three days or so!
@@kerrybayton2954 ....& that's if one doesn't wear it; unless you wear it _exactly_ every 4 days, who really cares about power reserve over 70hrs?!
The OP's comment reads like it was pitched expediently to favour the PRX in an embarrassing show of confirmation bias. 🤣
@@kerrybayton2954 well, when you have more than one watch, that is what happens. If you can ever afford to get a second mechanical watch, you might figure this out.
