Those are cake donuts and usually can’t fill them with anything. The yeast donuts get the filling because they’re more airy making it easier to put something inside.
Yeah $2 for a donut is pretty much dunkin prices. Plus as stated those are cake donuts, there's a place hear by yale called donut crazy their maple bacon SLAPS and their donut go crazy burger will make you fight your cardiologist...lol...Sorry back to this place. I'll try them too.
Those look like cake donuts which are hard to fill because they are dense. For something to have a filling it has to be like a yeasty donut like the Dunkin's Boston cream. Yeasty donuts are airy and pillowy on the inside so it can easily be filled. Most donuts that are filled are usually yeast based.
hey daym i live in texas and honestly your old best and worst reviewed restaurants videos make me want to go to connecticut just to try them. driving from texas to connecticut is literally a 25 hour drive which is tough. even the bad places like krauzer's, sally's, valley farm drive in, capitol lunch, husky pizza, and others that get a bad rating i want to go and try. i also saw an old video of yours of a hot dog restaurant called tomlinson's and those hot dogs look a little suspect but i would still try them. bro's dough the first black owned pizzeria in your state also seems very good and the owner seems very friendly. abate's pizza is hated for no reason as you made it clear the cheeseburger pizza was very good the problem is the wait time. roosters chicken and waffles has actually gotten better than when you tried it based off the reviews i seen. also that video of you and regg going to goodies the first time hilarious and iconic but glad that goodies was able to redeem themselves the second time you and regg went. and for the best reviewed restaurants, doogie's, blackie's, philly's a taste of philadelphia, modern apizza, and gold burgers call my attention just as much as the worst reviewed restaurants
I don’t like cream in my donuts, but I can understand that some, like you do However, I don’t think surprise filling is a good idea, because that doesn’t take into account, allergies (Unless they had a chart or something that shows the potential allergy warnings, then it would be fine)
I'm with you, I dislike any filling in my donuts, and I'd especially not like be surprised by a filling. If anything just add a option for it on the menu if it's something they could do.
When they're two bucks each, a dozen of them has to feel nice and varied. I feel like at least one or two of them should've been filled so your taste buds get a variety that's worth the price, especially if they're mini donuts
There's only a Dunkin in my area and I don't really like their donuts. Give me Krispy Kreme any day! But yeah... those little bites did not look like they are worth $2 each - filling or no.
@@susanna8612 i see, that i didnt know. normally when i talk with someone about donuts its the fluffy glazed or topped ones, not the denser cake ones. but thats interesting information to know :)

I love donuts. And the ones I prefer are southern California. the asian owned donut shops. They have their own style and flavored dough! As far as that place tasteees .yes I agree with Drop.
Something about Asians and the way they make the donuts out here in long beach..... I used to go get FRESH donuts at 2am when I used to work late nights 😂 so good
Dude, those are Fruity Pebbles! They’re not filled because your cake donuts versus east raised donuts. But I agree the price seem steep! I can see them being four for $5.
Donuts used to be $2.00 for a good glazed and stuffed. Now they are $4-$6 and I've stopped buying them. Can make them myself for cheaper and ones like those little things aren't even worth buying for a treat.
Then cut the in half put a layer of icing between the two halves put them back together and dip it in something that way there is still something in the middle a quote unquote filling right
See with most cake donuts, you need about a quarter of milk to guzzle it down, because it'd be so dry, but with most dough in donuts you barely need a glass of.
Guessing that a mix of both the ingredients (cake donuts ingredients typically cost more to make than yeast) and the cost of rent being factored into the cost. If the place is on a busy road with a mix of high end establishments and empty lots could mean the rent in high, and the costs have to be passed onto the consumer.
Heyyyy Daym I live in Rock Hill, SC and we have a donut spot here called MoMo Donuts that are the truth. The are so delicious that the run out by 11:30a on a Sunday morning. So whenever you take a trip down south give it a try.
I know you in Ohio. My co worker owns her own restaurant in Columbus called Chef Butcher’s Creole Kitchen. Please try it out . We both from the south and so happen to move to Ohio for the time being. Definitely try the gumbo, and her wings . Definitely ask for her own seasoning. Got a little kick to it. Pretty please it is great cooking from the south brought to the north and people need to learn about it
There's a similar teeny donut place near me, and the prices are way better. Probably about half the price you paid and they're also nice and fresh and homemade moist sponges of love.
Yeah, I'd tweak the pricing. That doesn't seem to the pricing for a little local dive like that. On the other hand, it seems to be across the street from a college, and in this day and age college kids are all rich unlike when I was there. We were all broke.
I’m not sure about this place but Donut Crazy nearby in West Hartford is amazing! I love the Cannoli Donut with the Cannoli filling inside it’s worth it. Neil’s Donuts don’t really Surpass Good for me. I think Donut Crazy is the best Donuts in Connecticut.
If they kept them just the base donut cake or yeast ... there 50 cents all day .. the fact that by adding the various toppings on them to be for the extra $1.50 your paying onto of that is definately obserd. Im sure you can get 12 plain ones for like $3us at any grocery store. I agree with you Daym .. if they where putting a filling in the majority of the donuts at least it would make it close to $2. Otherwise I think you are spot on saying that these are $1 each value though.
I used to go there all the time since it opened when I was 18 (2004). They don't have much in the way of filling, but they're not really made for filling. It was a little disappointing seeing you so focused on the filling, or lack thereof. Yes, they have gotten a bit pricey since I last went through when my son was about 5. The only reason I stopped going is because I moved out of state about 5 years ago.
"Ghetto Fruit Loops" LOL.... can't believe you can't spot "Fruity Pebbles" from a mile away... agree the price is crazy, but they did look good... and all the ones I saw did have holes (closed, but were there), so there's no chance of being filled.... If you wanted filled donuts, why not ask for filled donuts?
I don't really care about filling inside my donut, I care about toppings. I know few friends and family that only like 1 type of topping. But i do agree $2 for those donut is to much. should be maybe $1.25
Peeps, how much are krispy kreme donuts in the states now? Here in England they start at around £1.60 (1.98$) for a single original glazed, that's ONE donut! I feel we are getting bent over. A dozen is around £14. Sometimes there are offers but very rarely. Its ridiculous. Only time I get them now is for birthdays instead of a cake
Daym, gotta make a trip to Indianapolis and hit up Long’s Donuts right down the street from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. They are known for their basic glazed. They melt in your mouth for real
I wouldn't make all the donuts cake donuts. Have some be cake, some filled, some even crounuts which are pretty great. You can have jelly filled too. Like imagine when peach season rolls around and then you got a peach cobbler donut with that slow cooked peach filling with some peach icing on top? Summer time you can make strawberry short cake and key lime donuts.
