I use to smoke. But weed and the culture sucks. It’s overrated and tired of hearing about it already.
This was in 1984 in the midst of the “war on drugs” period.
It was the '80s it was right in the middle of the war on drugs
I remember this Paul. Merry Christmas to you, and Linda and your family. Blessings to you, this holiday season. 🕊️🎄
The guy's grin in rhe background when he says "probably not"😂
Right? That guy looks pretty baked!
Crazy to think almost 40 years later and not much has changed, at least in the UK. How weed can be illegal in a world where alcohol isn’t is truly beyond me.
UK the is biggest exporter in medicinal cannabis in the world , but yet its illegal to smoke it , makes total sense.
It is legal medically now, at least, but it should definitely be more like Canada
Literally just had a sapphire medical clinic's advert straight after this
Blame the Americans for this one, genuinely. They get a lot of blame thrown at them, sometimes unfairly, I know, but this issue is basically as black and white as it gets.
They are the ones who pushed criminalization on everyone else under threat of sanction, no two ways about it.
Paul is smart & in reversing an answer through question! 😅
Bro is chewing his face off like he just snorted half a gram of coke off the toilet cistern inside the court toilets.
I think he was really distressed
I bet he sang a lil song, like he snorted and immediately screamed "sgt peppeh"
*intense Mccartney snort*
"I AM SERGEANT PEPPEH!"
More like he’s pissed off for having been arrested.
probably just a stick of gum
How can you not love this man
My neighbor is a retired cop. I asked him once if he ever showed up to a home on a call of domestic violence and found the assailant drunk? Of course, he said. I then asked him if he ever showed up to a home on a call of domestic violence and found the assailant stoned on pot? Of course not, he said.
Sir Paul is spot on.
1984 was maybe the most hostile year McCartney had experienced - good to see him not being Mr Nice and on message for a change. Come out fighting Paul and tell the feckers where to go!
Who are the Feckers? Related to the Fockers?
- What about your children?
- I don't want them to take whisky, rum, punch, nicotine neither glue!
or "They're legal, too"
Jaysus. This video turned up in my feed but I only caught the title out of the corner of my eye and what I read was "Paul McCartney calls for cannibals to be decriminalised". Did give me a wee start, it did.
Penalising a beatle for smoking weed is like penalising your stomach for digesting your food. You can’t have one without the other. 90% of the music people love is created with the help of substances that alter your state of consciousness.
It's the same type of people that couldn't let others enjoy the Beatles. Small minded tyrants
literally 2 of the best Beatles albums were just drug trips
_"They go together like lamb and tuna fish."_
Press: Do you mean it this time?
Paul: Probably not!
DEAD xD
This is one of the many reasons I love this man, he spoke the truth even back in 1984 or whenever this was
Paul is great
Reminds me of a younger me reasoning with my parents who were not having any of it 😂🤣😂
I like how he refers to it's botanical name, cannabis, instead of "marijuana".
And almost 40 years later we still treat cannabis the same. The world never learns from anything.
Absolutely not true. You have to understand, back in those days marijuana was seen as a hard drug. Even if it's not legal everywhere today, it IS legal in many, many places and most people no longer view it as being a hard drug.
He was ahead of his time
Bro I'm legit replaying GTA V and on the side mission where you're taking pictures of the british celeb buying pot. I fell off the roof
McCartney is the greatest living legend. He bows to no one.
Oh whatever 😂
Absolute legend. Amazing man.
Him chewing his gum like a Hot Cheeto girl is hysterical🤣🤣🤣
Never seen this side of Paul what a legend
I honestly thought this was an Adrian Gray video 😂😂😂
As a former senior Emergency Communications Officer (E-911), Hostage Negotiator and EMS Provider I absolutely agree with what Paul McCartney said here.
Paul is so right about those other substances. Thankfully most states are voting to legalize marijuana. I am a cancer patient and smoking a small bit helps so much more than all the 10 medications they prescribe for me; which just have damaged my body in many ways.
needs to be legalized nationally tho
You should do edibles, smoking is always bad
Geniuses don’t tend to be wrong often lol. Gotta love Paul.
min 0:48 "lets see it decriminalized" Heck yeah PAUL!! Go Canada go!!!
No.
@@alexkx8599shu up
@@alexkx8599 Yes.
It’s going to become decriminalized and legal across the world as time goes on whether you like it or not and it’s already been like this for a long time, and still is.
@@RocknRollAddicts Oh, wow! Just because you think something is decriminalized means that it is safe physically and psychologically to take?! Are you educated?! I hope you ask for your money back if you are! You really have no knowledge about the damage it does to people and society do you?! Oh, no wait. YOU DON'T CARE. It's screaming obvious. Tell me how it doesn't intoxicate people and they don't hallucinate taking it. I just don't understand anything do I?
"Never again"
"You said that 4 years ago!!!"
"Yes I know."
Typical conversation we have with our parents ahah
“I’ve never taken drugs”
Goes home and smokes a cigarette with a glass of scotch
They charged him with cannabis but for a personal donation they let him keep the Coke he really had, as long as he finished it before leaving.
Lol "never again"
ahhh-WINK 😉
I remember seeing this on the news at the time. He still has the haircut he had done for the Pipes of Peace video.
Love the little wink haha
The Beatles were all so mentally strong…you can never outdue any of them in an argument. Apart from their musically gifts, I was always amazed by their characters.
"and glue" holy lmao 😂😂😂😂
“I’ve never taken a drug in my life” wonder what he had to say after the point about tobacco and alcohol 😂 “wait those are drugs? Nevermind”
1972 my bf was imprisoned, with zero prior, for 2 YEARS for 1 time selling grass. They released him when govt arbitrarily CHANGED the law to GET $$$ from the sale of grass. Being in prison DESTROYED Dennis chances of being hired for most jobs the rest of his life.
Money has its own rules
That's the sad thing about prison, there's no second chance. It's no wonder that prison is a revolving door if you are not allowed to join the work force.
Amazing. He knew back then what everyone now knows and embraces.
The wink. When he ses he’s not gonna do it again. 😂😂
Not until it is thoroughly financialized and corporatized
The corporate thing has already happened in many places, BUT it's better than going to jail for it.
@@waitaminute-vw9hfhonestly, as a Canadian it was rough for a couple of years but now the prices match or even beat the black market. Not to mention the weed is better and more consistent than pretty much anything I've gotten beforehand
He always knows how to answer!! ❤
I think it's absolutely ridiculous they're all hounding him as if they don't all drink the worst of them all, alcohol. It's weird how alcohol just gets a pass, alcohol has killed and destroyed millions, far more than cannabis but it's just seen as perfectly legal and just the way it is while cannnabis remains outlawed.
US had tried to banned alcohol, but the demand is too overwhelming, it made mafia rich. So we back to point 1 again, legalize alcohol.
I agree. Some of them probably do coke as well. Bunch of fkn hypocrites.
1984 it took real guts to say what Paul said about legalization of Marijuana. The way people are treated who get busted for it is so ridiculous. Yyyyaaaa Paul!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I love Paul's attitude here. Would love to see this side of him more.
Very Lennon-esque you might say! 😊
I totally agree with him. People are realizing now that alcohol is way more harmful.
Cannabis in its natural form isn't harmful.
People have known forever that alcohol is harmful.
@Caveman1109 you are wrong. Sativa is one of 3 basic types of cannabis. get yourself some education before you try acting like a smartass because you just come across as an ass.
"you said that four years ago, do you mean it this time?"
'Probably not'
