Drawbar repairs on 18tonne Stewart trailer. Part 2

- Part 2 of taking the slack out of a Stewart trailer drawbar.
The pivots on the trailer are line bored out to 60mm. This is done by using a short boring bar coupled with a flexi drive to make up for the offset of not being able to get square on.
The drawbar itself is put onto the radial arm drill and reamed out to 60mm with a big reamer.
A new pin is made but with a grease hole down the middle so the middle pivot can actually be greased.
The tailgate ram is removed and new ball joints are installed.
The drawbar is then refitted with a well greased pin and the last job is to refit the tailgate ram.
Hope you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for watching - Наука та технологія
Ignore the youtube safety crew, most of them couldn't handle what you do anyways.
Right. I'm sick of these guys with zero practical skills giving safety advice to all and sundry.
Your ingenuity, problem solving and descriptions of your thinking about the task are exceptional. I’m fine with the head cam as it must make your work more efficient. Thank you for sharing your interesting work and fine skills with us.
Merry Christmas and Thanks!
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Oliver and your family, and to all your viewers who know great content when they watch it. Thank you mate for the great videos, looking forward to more next year.
every problem has a solution ... keeping the approach simple .. you don't create new issues ...very clever
You are a genius. I really enjoy how to solve every issue you come across and maintain a very high standard of work
Appropriate use of head cam is very welcomed! Love your content.
Many thanks for putting my mind at peace with those extra props.
Thanks for 12 months of brilliant content Ollie. Have a very merry Christmas and an even happier New Year, all the best from Huddersfield.
I noted that your line borer was starting to get some surface rust, I found a rust prevention spray called Sta-bil Stop Rust which seems to work very well. The UK distributor is in Dewsbury just do a search on the above name, they will be in the top 10 results for the UK.
As usual, Oliver, great content and ingenious solutions to problems cannot believe it`s twelve months since you started the channel, I don`t think the North Yorks farming community realises what a gifted engineer they have amongst them, looking forward to watching you in 2024, all the best Oliver.
Oh we do!
That`s nice to know Andrew, all too often people like Oliver who do their very best for the customer go unnoticed and unappreciated.@@SpudSlingsby
In an ideal world a ( karen ! ) would be nice , but the head cam is a good compromise when working on your own , really enjoyed your videos this year and appreciate the work that goes in to making them , keep them coming , all the best for 24
Here’s a little deposit towards the grease gun. Merry Christmas and thanks for the great content.
Thank you! Merry Christmas
I'm sure that Ollie is already aware that the grease he applied to the draw bar pivot is more than likely the last grease that will be applied before the next repair on that trailer... But hey-Ho, the lack of maintenance on this sort of equipment will keep a good job-shop like Ollie's in business for a long time. BTW I now have to go back and watch all your earlier content, including manufacturing your shop-made line boring kit. Merry Christmas Ollie
Thanks for sharing your work Ollie, you work to a high standard. The head cam should be used sparingly, not a fan of the quick movements. I'm like other comments, feeling a bit seasick if it's used for a long time.
All the best for Christmas and the New Year, Brian from Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
The head cam works as you don't have a camera crew like Curtis, really like watching you both working in completely different circumstances 😊
Its not much but a little help for your power grease gun. Thanks for all the videos. Merry Chrismas and Happy new year!
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
Congratulations on completing your first year. Enjoyed every minute. I'm looking forward to next year.
(Sydney, Australia)
👍
I have enjoyed every video of yours I have watched,
Thanks Oliver for the content in 2023. Merry Christmas.
Best wishes for 2024.
Nice one Olly, looking forward to your happy smiley face again in 2024
Thank you for the time and effort u put into the videos this year. They have been so good. I'm looking forward to next year's videos
Milwaukee m18 grease gun, it’s the future 👍
Very happy to see you are taking safety measures, it’s been so many workers killed in accidents on the job 2023 here in Sweden so I’m more aware than ever. Happy Holidays!
There’s been a truck mechanic and a tractor mechanic killed in my area in the last few months, makes you realise now quick things can go wrong.
There's been a lot of people killed on the streets in Sweden too...
But that's what you get for allowing "EU" quotas to fill your country with third world riff raff...
Enjoy
Sometimes those simple jobs turn out to have pretty complicated solutions. They’re also the kind of jobs where some would hurry through just to get it out of the way. It’s good the way you took the time to make a reliable repair. God’s blessings in the new year.
Another great video. Congratulations on 1 year and Merry Christmas
Perhaps if a customer could watch a video of their repairs they would appreciate the invoice. Assuming of course the level of professionalism you offer.
Another awesome video Oliver.
Merry Christmas and happy new years, from kiwi land l.
Head cam is a little bit challenging but if that’s what it takes to get us in on the action.
Partly we will get used to it and partly you will lear to mooch your head more slowly 🤠
It’s all good!
Great stuff. Love the ingenuity on the flexi drive for the line borer. Also very impressed that you built the line borer yourself, I’m going to check out that post now. Happy Christmas and keep the content coming.
Merry Christmas n Happy Holidays Oliver and your Family 🎉
Really nice vid 👌🏻
It's the ability to adapt and solve the problems these jobs throw up, that sorts the men from the boys. Thanks for posting and have yourself a merry little Christmas🎄
The head camera gave us a good view of what you are looking at, but a tip is to try to remember to turn your head slowly. I was OK with it, but some people get seasick if the motion is too quick from side to side.
Thank you for a year of entertainment, interesting, informative and educational videos.
Merry Christmas to you, your family, friends and subscribers. Wishing you all a Blessed, healthy, joyful and prosperous New Year. Stay well be safe and have fun. Greetings from NE rural Ohio, USA 🇺🇸
Feliz Navidad saludos desde Argentina
No problem with the head cam for me. Appreciate that you are a one man business, whatever works for you.
Happy Christmas.
Thank you for welding the safety bar 😊
Best thing I ever bought for greasing difficult spots is a Lock -N -Lube . It locks on the zerk and then you can pump with two hands. Lock-N Lube is $30 a cordless grease gun is $300. If your good I'm shure Santa can Squeeze it in. Merry Christmas. 🍻
Christmas present has arrived, all the best Oliver
The head camera view is good, though obviously it can be bothersome with it moving so much. Most video editing software can stabilize a video clip. Only takes a few minutes to let that run and your head cam footage would be excellent.
Mr Snowball, I really appreciate your way of finding solutions to situations! Simply impressive! Thanks!!
Another good two parter !
Love the homemade line borer , love all the fab !
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Go and have a mince pie 😁
Thank you for all the posts on a deservedly growing channel. Happy Christmas.
Perfect. Thank you for the videos.
Thanks Oliver…love the content 😊
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 Oliver take a day or two for yourself and reflect on all your achievements.
Nice to see someone using good old fashioned callipers.
Merry Xmas, thanks for the vids 🎄
You could use an old car Stirling drive shaft with small UJ to make drive shaft for your line boring device, good work
I love the line boring solutions you come up with, great work! I'm not a fan of the head-camera, too shaky for me. Thanks for the great content!
it was good to see that put in extra safety point.....best wishes for 2024😎
Nice one. Head cam's fine, whatever helps you to do what you do without faffing round the edges of your work. 😜
Thank you for sharing, always a pleasure watch your project,I learn a lot 👍👍👍👍
You have an uncanny ability for thinking through issues! I commend you on that talent!
You asked about the use of your head cam... It certainly makes for some good shots, but I would suggest using it sparingly as it may give some of us a bit of vertigo...
Don't mind the head cam. It would make it easier for you but maybe consider editing out the jittery parts. Just a suggestion. Love your content, keep up the good work. Merry Christmas mate 🎄🎅🍻🇦🇺
That must have been really interesting, because the hour passed in no time. It's always interesting seeing the variety of jobs you get in and how you work out the best solution for those tricky jobs with restricted access.
More long videos please!
Nice job with your self made line borer and flexidrive!👌💪
Merry Christmas from the USA....Excellent work Oliver. Adapt & overcome. Ready for a new year of videos. Thanks for taking the time to let us enjoy too.
Love watching what you and your amazing talent can accomplish Mr Snowball
I can't wait for the next video...
thanks very much for posting the video. enjoyed watching part 2. hope you and family have a good Christmas and happy new year to you all
I am happy to see you welded it a safety bar, I was worried that timber your Dad put in there would kick out due to vibration. I think that hitch connection will be better than it was as new! Nice innovative fix , your Dad should be proud of you and happy with the trailer now!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!
Merry Christmas!
What a craative mind you have sir! thank you for sharing all of it.
The head cam is good once you get used to it. Good solution to the rebuild.
Job well done, Oliver. ⭐️
Quality video Thanks for another amazing video.
This man is gifted
Good strong fix. I can't believe they didn't bush those joints when the trailer was made. Those areas take a real beasting with a laden trailer going over rough ground.
The more the clutter and tighter the working conditions, the better you compete. Concept, consentration and common sense; you got it! Merry Christmas to you and yours. Thanks for your time and skills.
Merry Christmas, as we remember the reason for the season.
The head cam seems like a great addition! It gets us in close where a tripod wouldn’t, and without the sea sickness of handheld without a gimbal
I like the head cam! It gives your videos a different dimension! Great work! Merry Christmas 🎄! 👌👍
Absolutely enjoyed every one of your videos thanks for sharing your daily work with us
Enjoy your Christmas have a good new year to you and yours cheers
Another great video Oliver, Merry Christmas to you and your family...! Cheers from Canada...
U are an excellent welder Ollie. Nice traces.
Merry Christmas Oliver and wishing for you and your family a wonderful New Year 🎄🥳🎁🍾🥂🎂🍰👊🏻
Merry Christmas Oliver - wishing you further success with your channel in 2024.
Merry Christmas. Great channel, enjoying watching 🌲
Well done man. Nice fix. Head cam works alright 👍 Thanks for the videos!
The head cam has good and bad points though overall it's good. It's like a helmet cam on a bike if you move your head too much it makes the viewer dizzy 🤣
Definitely one of my favourite channels.
The headcam is a dizzying point of view. Still you are fun to watch on Sunday mornings. Thanks for your channel.
Another excellent video.
I love how you have Mande your own boring machine, anything’s worth it if u save yourself some money, really enjoy your content!
Well done!
Great work , I enjoy watching you do you thing , and there is always something different and difficult, however you find a way to get it done, keep up the great Work regards Andy Perth Australia
It has been a good year! Merry Christmas.
Big reamers are awesome. SpaceX also used a very big reamer when they manufactured the steel plate for the water deluge system under the Starship rocket in Texas. There are some pretty cool video of that floating around.
Great video awesome work, some tips on the head camera. I am fine with the head camera except for two places, at the lathe and when you sped up the video hammering. The first should be relatively easy to have a dedicated camera mount on the wall behind the lathe maybe with additional light that should make set up process quick and easy. And the later just don't use it while hammering something that makes the whole image shake and especially if you also speed up the video. I am all for increasing productivity while still making videos good luck and happy Christmas!
That is some reamer... Merry Christmas and that's for all your video's
Great video as usual. Merry Christmas Oliver from across the pond!
Another job out of the door better than factory👍. Thanks for your content I really enjoy them. Have a great Christmas and a happy new year.
Another great video. Looking forward to next year with channel. Happy holidays to you, your family and friends. Also a happy and safe Christmas and new year to all of the other subscribers who now count Sunday with you, as the best day of the week. 🎉
Awesome video, amazing work thank you Oliver,
All the best pal
Merry Christmas, congratulations on one uear of great vidos. Love watching you work.
All the best for Christmas and the new year. I'm looking forward to your videos next year. 🙂🙂
That was pretty tricky doing the line boring, but you came up with the solution like you always do. The repair job should last longer than it did from new, with the added grease grooves.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Oliver and family from Canada
Looking forward to another year with great videos. Love the head cam!
Great job Oliver. Your ingenuity is amazing!👍
Hi Oliver, thanks for another great video, and let me whish you and your's a very merry Christmas and all the best for the new year, kind regards Stuart Uk.
Great job! Excellent work!
