I’ve been wanting a sequel to this game for the longest time. Although if it did get a sequel, I would certainly hope that the story was better than a bird continuously kidnapping one of two people over and over again
How about a sequel that is based on galaxy, they can mess with the gravity and sling star mechanic more now captain toad can’t jump. Also captain toad can have power up like ice captain toad, tornado captain toad or fire captain toad.
@@ThatOneKat511no. I’m not asking for a Shakespeare, just anything is better than an annoying story about a bird kidnapping to people over and over again in an almost identical cut scene
I love Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker! It's a really fun puzzle game and the added 2-player in the Switch version has been a great reason for me to revisit it!
Hands down one of my favourite games, so much charm and charisma, the levels are so cleverly designed. We've needed number 2 for a very long time. It's a shame Nintendo has abandoned this IP along with so many.
I don’t want to sound like one of those 12 year olds saying “Mariomikester never fails to deliver” but I TRULY believe that is is one of if not the most underrated channels on all of UA-cam. and it’s a shame it’s not his job so he can’t upload more
Short answer: yes! I love this game, it's one of my favorite games on Switch. I wish it did receive a sequel with levels based around Super Mario Odyssey's Kingdoms. The DLC is also a nice addition to the Switch port. :)
So glad you talked about this games. This is a hidden gem but all of us who played it know how amazing it is. I Played it on Wii U and loved the exclusive 3D World levels. The Switch Version added 2 Player Coop and DLC Levels. The game looks gorgeous with its animations and detailed textures and art style.
Well, it does seem like the director or captain toad was a very creative person, so I wouldn't be surprised if he made the names! WOnder if he's still around and has more of these ideas. If so, they should do another captain toad game on the switch 2!!
Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is one of the Wii U/Switch's hidden gems, actually preferred it to Smash 4 at the time of release. Just a charming time, with the post game 3D World/Odyssey levels being a nice extra. The 3DS port still confuses me as to why it exists tho
I ADORE this game! I still pick it up on 3DS every now and then. I never got it on Switch but I think I’ll grab it soon. It was always one of my favorite chill puzzle games before bed. While not going to win any game of the year awards I personally love it and have it to thank for hours of entertainment. I love puzzles and wholesome puzzle games always have a special place in my heart.
This shouldn't even be a question. The answer is yes. I played this game when it came back way back on the wiiu, I straight up kept playing till I got to the third chapter lol. It's an awesome game and deserves more. But at the very least I'm just glad he's been in every mainline mario since 3D world. I have high hope he'll return on the switch 2. Very high hopes. But if not there's still hope his in a new 3D mario...maybe.
This game is best played on the Wii U. Despite the switch version having additional levels, the Wii U version doesn’t have an annoying pulsing pointer on the screen at all times
This game is very nostalgic for me. It’s one of the major reasons why I got a Wii U. I saw the commercials for it in late 2014 when I was 7. So I got a Wii U for Christmas that year with 3D World and Nintendo Land. I was so excited when I saw that Captain Toad was in 3D World. I soon got Captain Toad a few months later and really enjoyed playing it. Even now I think it’s a great underrated gem 💎 and definitely deserves a sequel.
"Is Captain toad treasure tracker actually any good?" I liked it. A lot, actually. The only thing I dislike is that they only let me have one save file.
I think this is an excellent game for the gamer with not much time, who wants to pick up and play. The puzzles are fun and well crafted. The plot, while shallow, is charming. I think, even at launch on WiiU, this was excellent value for money
You don’t? All the levels in the Toadette chapter are unique. The only repeated levels are some of the bonus levels that are basically “level x from base game, but with Mummy-Me/Toad Brigade”.
Did you, like, stop playing in the middle or something? Book 1 is just a small part of the game. There are soooo many more levels afterwards in books 2 and 3.
“Super Mario 3D world was super different than ever other 3D Mario released before it” Its literally a sequel to 3D Land and is very similar to that game. Great video though, love captain toad thanks for shining a light on this underrated gem
Great video, super well made! I agree with everything you said too, haha. I love the game, but I suppose working against it is that it feels a bit claustrophobic in comparison to super mario games since you can't jump. "Almost as claustrophobic as Skyward Sword" 😅😉
I knew about this hidden gem since about 2017, but i didn't think it was offical...it though it was a fan game... I did not see Nintendo making character specific spin-offs similarly to SEGA But here we are...
Wii U version has post-game levels taken from 3D World that are adapted to fit Captain Toad, as well as repeating the opening cutscene of 3D World but extended to show Captain Toad also entering the Sprixie Kingdom, basically the whole thing is a cool setup to the game being a direct prequel to 3D World, and the bonus levels from 3D World are kinda supposed to show how Captain Toad got a couple of the Green Stars you find him with in actual 3D World. It also uses the Wii U gamepad for various Touchscreen-based features. In the Switch version however, all of that is gone completely, no 3D World stages, and the whole 3D World prequel thing is scrapped. Instead, the Switch version adds 4 brand new stages (I think it's 4) that are from 4 of Super Mario Odyssey's kingdoms (but obviously WAY smaller than Odyssey's stages, these have completely new level design unlike the 3D World stages in the Wii U version), and the game is retconned to be an Odyssey prequel instead (though in my opinion it doesn't work nearly as well that way and has some big plot holes, but who cares about that lol). And touchscreen gimmicks have been reworked to use a gyro motion pointer in docked mode. So in short, the Wii U version has bonus levels from 3D World, while the Switch version removed those but added new bonus levels based on Odyssey kingdoms.
@@johnxland9373 And!!! There is more! Only on Nintendo switch can you get the special DLC or 5 bucks, which includes 18 new levels, all of which are a little bigger than normal captain toad levels and in my opinion, even more depth! To 100% everything, you will get 3 hours of gameplay, if not, only 2 hours. Doing 100% of the game is way more fun though!
exactly. Most replayable game ever! Have played it like 5 times if not more and since each level is so complex I forget where most of the gems and missions are, so i can replay it every 4 months or so!!!
