    Do you use the tylose in the fondant that’s covering the entire cake as well?

    • @KarolynsKakes
      @KarolynsKakes  Рік тому

      Yes! Not as much tylose is in the fondant that covers the cake. But it helps to make it smooth and stretchy. I explain in this video:

    How long is the fondant good for on the counter? Can it be frozen?

    • @KarolynsKakes
      @KarolynsKakes  10 місяців тому

      I keep it wrapped up in plastic wrap, place it in a ziplock bag, then keep that bag in an airtight container. It lasts about 3 weeks. I have heard that people freeze it with success. I personally never have because I go through so much of it!

    Hi Karolyn, do you prefer AmeriColor over other gel colors and why? I purchased a ribbon roller from Hobby Lobby and it seems wobbly to me. Maybe I don’t have the nuts tight enough. Thanks again for another great video.

      I have used a lot of different brands. I find that Americolor is the thickest and gives the most color payoff. So I don't have to use as much.

    Do you need to grease the plate for normal fondant icing? Not sure what the difference would be between American and Marshmallow fondant.

    • @KarolynsKakes

      I'm sorry but I'm not sure what American fondant is?
      Marshmallow fondant is made with marshmallows. Other (store bought) fondant is typically sugar, water and corn syrup and usually doesn't need microwaving.

    How much tylose would you recommend to use on half pound fondant please

    • @KarolynsKakes
      @KarolynsKakes  3 роки тому

      I'm sorry I am just seeing this comment, I would use about 2 teaspoons. Mix it together, let it sit for about 20 minutes and see how it feels after that. If you need more, then add a little at a time.

    Hi!! I tried marshmallow fondant and when I added the tylose it got so hard and it wasnt easy to pull apart
    Is that what happens when you add too much tylose?😂 it was also getting wrinkly

    • @KarolynsKakes
      @KarolynsKakes  2 роки тому

      OMG how much did you add?! 😂😂
      Yeah, you probably added too much. Not sure why it was wrinkly though! Was it white fondant?

    I love your channel and your energy!!! Have you ever used airbrush color to dye fondant in a pinch? I’ve always thought about it, but have never had the guts to try when I was in the pinch 😆

    • @KarolynsKakes
      @KarolynsKakes  2 роки тому

      Thank you! The thing with airbrush color is that it is very messy and is good for a light coating for detail on fondant. But if you put a lot of color on it, it could start to run. Or if it's hot and the cake sweats, it could drip down the cake and mess it up!

      @@KarolynsKakes You're totally right! It would run! I knew there was something holding me back for reason :)
