I've gotten to handle one of the Malleus Martialis Flos Two Handed Estocs and I found it to be extremely light. So light in fact, it felt even lighter than most sharp swords I've handled!
Dont you use their sideswords? The nice people at malleus make the best blunts there are imo. I immediately noticed that in Solingen 2015ish where i got to know them.
Thank you for the review. I was quite curious about this sword since you received your review example. Do you have any idea when the Liutger might be available in Malleus's shop?
@Ignacy Nowicki I wasn’t sure if their was an official name for it other than a leather or a leather guard or something. I’ve seen depictions of them before and I had always been under the assumption that it was to keep moisture out of a scabbard or sheath.
Off topic I know; however, any chance you could do a video on why you chose Fiore? I would guess that being a native speaker of Italian factored in...but, are there other reasons? Am studying the German tradition & sometimes see some advantages in your videos.
@Coronal I had similar concerns but the leather rainguard on my Aureus longsword feder has not taken any visible damage after several months of sparring at least twice a week. Full speed against feder as well as drilling and moderate sparring against blunts.
Two different weapon makers, not speaking with each other, told me that this sword is worth half ot its price, when they saw it :D And well, comparing it with my Aureus longsword, which was similar price, Liutger is really poor quality for its price; speaking about weight distribution, edge thickness, flex distribution.
I’m going to receive two SIGI arming swords in a few months, I’ll wait that to compare. That said, it is better than my previous one by far, so I’m happy. The only thing which bothers me it’s a problem with the pommel, which seems kind of a standard issue in many malleus (it’s not wel fixe on its place) which for the price isn’t that good at all.
I have looked on his site, as I have ordered many Del Tins, located in Italy also. Malleus Martialis makes some beautiful side swords, the colorful grip choices are a Wonderful option. Is Italy still shipping to the State's due to the whole Pandemic?
Their Replica stuff is awesome too. In swordphysics terms at least above deltin. And id say in Looks also. :P You Italiens make great blunt and butterknife "Sharp" swords. Cause of strict Italien Blade law. Theres a german saying describing this Situation perfectly: "Aus der Not eine Tugend machen."
Very good review. I checked the website, but did not see the Liutger. I am guessing that this sword is not yet available? Also, do you know if Malleus Martialis has a US importer?
Not every product made by MM is already on the website, this guys and making many new work projects, so I would advice to contact them if you are interested in this sword. But I bet it will be added more or less soon on the website anyway.
I will definetly get a Sigi King for my replica sparing sword, however I think there is noting wrong with non historical blade optimized for safety. In fact I would rather see more shilteless feder than dangerous very stiff blunt swords.
Absolutely. But I would rather see even more SIGI kings and Liuger around than schiltless Feders ;-) Feders are cool, don’t get me wrong! But I would love to see more choices available for nerds like me ahah
If you are interested in this sword and you want the precise stats, contact Malleus Martialis directly. Link in the description.

This one is perfectly in line with my Albion Sheriff, it feels identical. ;-)
What do you Tink about the Sigi King?
Love the sparring weapon reviews!
reminds me of Moonbrand! love it!
Wonderful sword and review! I also find their designs really appealing.
I agree!
That is indeed a nice sword :)

@@AGermanFencer we got their early sidesword, which is very nice as well. The only drawback is the premium price.

Lol nice save there!
Great review! My SIGI arming sword feels a bit too sporty at times for i.33. Definitely going to check this one out!
Ahahah ;-)
That looks awesome! I want one.
Absolutely;-)
Looks like a great choice!
Did you eventually get a chance to try out the Todesca sparring longsword?
I really like the blade but the high price, long wait times, and subpar pommel inspires me to wait for a better option.

I think they will add it soon on their Website, but I bet that if you contact them you can most probably already order one.
@@FedericoMalagutti Thanks again
What is the black piece you have around the cross guard?

I’ll keep this in mind for the future
Always wondered, how on earth does a rainguard survive in sparring?
I am going to shoot a video around the subject in the coming weeks.
@@FedericoMalagutti Nice!

@@FedericoMalagutti the thing is that you can choose 2 among 3 : Cheap, Safe, Beautiful. And Safe is sacrificed too often in my opinion
