Hell to the Frickin Yeah!!!! Skynyrd is my favorite band and always have been. Stevie Gaines was absolutely one of the best guitarsist I've ever seen or heard and Allen Collins was exactly the same way. They were more talent on that stage than most Bands will ever have in their whole lives . And Mr. Prince Charming RIP Gary Rossington was the final flavor in that band. I've saw them twice and I was lucky enough to get to see Gary and and Billy and Leon in 96 In Riverbend Cincinnati and Big Huey From the Outlaws was playing with them then and That's another bunch of outstanding artists to . A bunch has passed away to . Then I saw Skynyrd again in 2012 in Pikeville Kentucky and Everytime they take the stage they bring it ! Now Mr. Ricky Medlock is another one of my favorites no matter who he's playing with . And then guys really catches more Hell than any other band I know of and it's people that don't have a clue what they're talking about . None of those people have ever.... never ever claimed to be trying to fill the shoes of the original members . And I wonder how many could tell me who their drummer was back when they first started playing . One of em was Bob Burns but guess what.... they're another original one.... and he helped write a bunch of songs on one of their first albums. None other than Ricky Medlock !!! And the song White Dove was wrote and sang by Ricky Medlock and when I found that out it blew me away. Now I'm sorry for going on a Big rant about Skynyrd but it's very seldom I listen to any band covering any of their songs but soon as I heard you I knew this is the One Band and im Sure Thankful I ran upon your channel and I done subbed to and I've got my video paused while I wrote this history lesson and now im gonna Rock This Mother Lover!
No need to apologise for a Skynyrd rant my friend, I'm with you!! I would have loved to have seen them back in the day, but I saw them for the first time at the NEC in Birmingham back in 2003 where they were on the bill sandwiched between The Darkness (opener) and Deep Purple (headliner). We went for Deep Purple but Skynyrd totally blew them away and I've been a massive fan ever since! The Deep Purple show was a bit of an anti-climax after Skynyrd's set. Ricky Medlock is a total badass and he was on fire that night, as were the rest of the band.
Well that's just down my alley .....Lightnin 👑
Cheers Angus - kept me busy trying to learn this in lockdown!
