    About 20 years ago I was in a Western Auto store (remember them?) and there was a pair of self-adjusting pliers. I asked the counter guy about them and he said "its just something new they are trying out. They only sent us a few of them." So, I liked the idea of no more skinned knuckles and bought a pair. I loved them. Great idea. I used them for years until one time I went on a trip with my ex to see her family for the holidays and they disappeared. I have been trying to find a pair like that ever since! Moral of the story here? Buy them while you can, because you never know!!!

      Looks like the guy who took them was very well familiar with this moral too. " Get 'em while you can, because you never know!!"

    Can't wait to get my hands on it even though I've already couple of locking pliers lying around doing nothing

    Can't wait to get mine in a few days. I'm glad yours seems to be a solid tool.
    It'll take a few months at work for me to see if it's a gimmicky tool or the best pair of locking pliers on the market. I think as long as it's durable, it would be the locking pliers I recommend to everyone.

    Particularly good one for my perspective, I was completely unfamiliar with this tool. Came very close to buying, I'd like to wait a few months and see how they hold up for you. I am curious, what's wrong with using vise grips while welding? The chances of slag burning through the spring?

    Very cool pliers! But uh-oh… The Amazon link isn’t giving me an option to buy! I’ll check back but I thought you’d want to know.

    what's wrong with using vice grips to hold parts together while tack welding? I do that all the time.

    Looks good, but for $28-34 bucks EACH they can stay at Amazon - lol (For comparison sake, for just $18 one can get an entire 4-piece set of FASTPRO 5", 7" and 10" Curved Jaw Locking Pliers and a 6-1/2" Long Nose Locking Pliers.

      Yup, you are paying for the automatic function for sure . And I can see some people not wanting to spend the extra money no doubt. I'm going to use this one for about a month or so and if it doesn't fail, I'm probably going to buy a few more.

    With Vise Grips you adjust size and grip strength with one screw, boom you're done. This is a more complex gadget you still have to adjust grip strength.

      I actually prefer these now that I own a pair. They are just a little simpler, no need to adjust the size, just the pressure.

    Hey what size is the screw that adjusts the tension on the jaws? I lost my screw. Diamater and thread size would be enough. Thanks. Bud

    are mine defective or are they trash ??? sooo here is what’s going on and why i find this type of vice grips pliers useless . i bought a pair on ebay . and i was excited to use them at work till i had the next problems .
    i thought i would be able to use them on both thing and thick materials while having a strong grip . i couldn’t be more wrong . when trying to hold onto something thin i would have to tight up the tension screw all the way so it could grip something thing and it wouldn’t be a strong hold . now in order to hold onto something thick i would have to losen up the tension screw all the way and i would be able to grip some thick material again not a strong hold but not this time i can not close the pliers its only posible when the screw is tighten all the way . so i found this useless .

    • @wranefis
      @wranefis Місяць тому

      it does hold both thin and thick material but if i wanted a kind of strong grip i would have mess with the tension screw like i previously mentioned . making almost work as a normal vice grip pliers .
