- The history of rice cultivation is an interdisciplinary subject that studies archaeological and documentary evidence to explain how rice was first domesticated and cultivated by humans, the spread of cultivation to different regions of the planet, and the technological changes that have impacted cultivation over time. The current scientific consensus, based on archaeological and linguistic evidence, is that Oryza sativa rice was first domesticated in the Yangtze River basin in China 13,500 to 8,200 years ago. From that first cultivation, migration and trade spread rice around the world - first to much of east Asia, and then further abroad, and eventually to the Americas as part of the Columbian exchange. The now less common Oryza glaberrima rice was independently domesticated in Africa 3,000 to 3,500 years ago. Other wild rice species have also been cultivated in different geographies, such as in the Americas.

I never used to eat much of it till recently except maybe mixed grain rice for health benefits, sushi on occasions, or Spanish rice with Mexican night. But when I traveled Southeast Asia and began to understand its potential to stretch the dollar and increase my variety of cooking styles, it just made sense!
Its storage, shelf life, and weight just made sense to keep around for the perfect survival food!
Eatin rice and watching this video, good content for rice lovers

that's from evil corporate America's corruption of the farming and health systems of the entire world. they introduced all the unhealthy bs and misleading health information about cholesterol. All the information about cholesterol causing health problems is totally false. It's necessary for normal body functions.
Rice is My favorite type of grain. 🍚 😋
I used to eat white rice in college, so I know what you mean. I'd get one of those huge boxes from Costco or I'd make brown or long grain rice too. Now I cook organic, medium grain brown rice in a pressure cooker. It's great plain with salt, but I also like ground black pepper and garlic powder on it. I cook 2/3 cup with almost 3x that much water and that makes one meal/snack of around 330 calories.
Rice is probably one of the best grains we have, at least white rice. It barely has any antinutrients and fiber and you can remove most of the arsenic with certain cooking methods
Milk sugared rice great as desert.
I love it too.
It is also my fav grain
Rice pudding is popular in uk where I'm from
We have been eatingwild rice for a least 100,000 years as a species. Some scholars even think up to 1 million years ago for the wild rice.
人类作为一个物种的历史都没有100万年,点赞的是脑子坏掉了?
Rice doesn’t eat. The rice plant consumes energy through photosynthesis.

Do we know weather people ate brown or white rice traditionally ?
Rice has been eating human's teeth just as long as humans have been eating rice. 🦷 It's great to ensure a toothless mouth at 70 years old.
Here in north valley of California we grow rice, and here I thought California was drought stricken.
You could easily grow a patio full of rice in pots.
I do like rice. Now, the woman of the house is really picky about her rice. How it's cooked, which variety of rice. I'm not so picky. I also am fortunate enough to be in close contact with a Native American tribe who provides me with a nice supply of fresh harvested wild rice, which i absolutely love. I know it's technically not considered to be rice, but it's still a water grown grass seed, so close enough for me. Lol
