    Wow! What a cool sled with a great story Todd. I've been watching your channel for a while and responded a few times and you always reply back. I stumbled onto a 91 RXL a few weeks ago that had sat in a garage here in Michigan.....all custom paint, pinstripes...pure early 90s and in great shape .....but covered in mold... like an old hamburger bun. LoL
    Now I'm addicted. I am in the process of making it run and ride again. Thanks for the great videos!!

    Dam that beast is pretty, what a sweet build ! One of a kind, verry tastefully done! Nice work! the 90s indy wedge style ,to me was they're finest hour in polaris history. just so reliable, the best styling, and rider friendly design possibly in snowmobiling history, ive owned 6 different 90s indys ,and loved em all. Great work my friend !

    Wow! Bastard is mean and clean! Beautiful sled! i always thought the 90s wedge is the prettiest sled style . The sks extra lenghth really looks good on that style chassis, and the kicked out flap bracket looks sweet. Gorgeous machine! Thanks for sharing and reviving the wedge machines.

    I am a little younger than you...but I will never forget...I took my snowmobile safety driving test on a brand new RXL, the return after the stop/go and all the signals, and whatever, was a ride back around the perimeter of a 20 acre field, and I had ridden for 2 years illegally on several hundred mile trips on a 488 Trail, but was very experienced, as I started on a Kitty Kat at age 7...What a blast for a Kid that had only rode fan twins, I made that trip back to the start/finish line a "little" on the FAST side (Probably snapped it to 50+ on the longest straight), which I got scolded for, but it was worth the scolding!

    Wow Todd! Shes beautiful! Patience on a build like that pays off, the detail is amazing ! Indys ive owed were and are, 83,600. 86, 400. 90,500special. 91500classic. 93Rxl650. 94xltspecial. And my favorite. 97ultraspecial680triple! Yours reminds me of my Rxl ! Those 90s indys ride so flat and nice, i like to set mine up with the rear squated a little, and the front shocks cranked up a little. They just float through the powdet and scream down the trail ! The liquid cooled Fuji's were badass, you guys are really good at restoring the classics, and keeping those memories alive! The new stuff may be faster and more reliable, but the style and vibe cant even compare! Liquid indys forever!!!thanks Todd. Mike J. Blaine minn.👍

    Sweet build! I picked up a non running 92 Indy 650 and trying to get it running. I noticed there's a line on the fuel pump that broke off. It was a capped/plugged line but not sure what it's for.... fuel return thats been bypassed maybe? There are 5 other lines on the pump, 3 to the carbs, one to the tank line in, and the pulse line. Since the fuel return (I'm guessing) line broke off and is no longer plugged/bypassed, could that be the cause of the sled not running. The guy I got it from said it just died on them one day while riding.

  • @snowking55
    @snowking55 5 років тому +1

    Well there it is in all its glory, and it looks mighty fine indeed Todd! Sounds great too! The dash plaques look great really set off the red accents on the sled. I had an '83 600 triple and this sled reminds me of it, and it was the fastest sled I owned at up to that point in my life, so it brings back some fond memories. Question though, why is your tach turned sideways?

    • @ScoredPiston
      @ScoredPiston 5 років тому

      snowking55 - looks like 9100 rpm is straight up, and that’s max rpm for him. so when you are flying down the trail or across the lake at wide open, and only have a fraction of a second to look down, the tach needle should be pointing straight up. This way you can see you are at peak power very quickly. It’s an old drag racing trick.

Remember Those Clutches over drive by .90 if set up correct :) We only ran our 650 to 8700 rpm cos it was a trail sled most of the time and where i live it's common to get 7 to 10 mile straights with only 4 to 6 inches of snow and lots of ICE. @misters2837 5 років тому

      On a hard left turn you can right hand the other way around, so your palm is facing your body, you slide your down the hook, it looks like you are arm wrestling someone with your left arm, sideways in front of yourself...they made brake levers for that too...on the Right turns you can underhand the handlebar and use your pointer and salute finger to run the throttle...if you ride aggressively on trails, you find that you can pull harder with your arm in different than "normal" positions... (We rode with a LOT of ski pressure, and big carbides on 1/2" bars)

    Great job on the Build!!!! Looks awesome and sounds it. I was bit by the Sled bug in the early 70's and remember how many MFG's there were . I remember those late 80's early 90's Indy's and how they ran the ovals in the stock classes, almost unbeatable. I'm a Cat man myself but totally unbiased, Keep the 3x3 two strokes alive, they are rare these days.....
