same, I just finished another replay and the world holds up soooo well today. The mission design and story leave a lot to be desired, but I really enjoy Deacons journey. It’s a very open world game lol whatever that means
@@captainziggy82 I think you probably mean in terms of an open world mission structure it’s a very standard game, but imho that is not an inherently bad thing like most critics play it up to be. I mean there is a standard open world formula for a reason.. even if some people are sick of it it’s still a good way to design a game.
@@rekdyoface4503 that’s not at all why a sequel isn’t being made… Jeff Ross said they tried to pitch a sequel to Sony Bend’s management and they wouldn’t even listen to his ideas and he was treated like a failure.
Picked this up from PS Plus and played it finally last year. I was amazed how great this game was. The first 10-ish hours are a bit slow and tough to play since you don't have good gear. But around getting to the third camp I got invested to the story so much that I didn't want to stop playing 😄 the main story was awesome and all the side stuff and flashbacks with Sarah added so much emotional value for me.
Also got it from ps+, intrigued by some mechanics but just way too boring/slow to keep playing. So little time for so many great games and this ain't one of then.
One of the last games in a long time where I made myself finish it. The world building was fantastic for me and character development was great for everyone. The combat was very fun too with the gunplay feeling engaging and intuitive which I have a hard time with 3rd person action games. 10/10 in my eyes. Not to mention it's absolutely beautiful to look at, even on last gen I was blown away at what was accomplished.
I made myself finish it too, for me the story and cutscenes were too much let me get back to shooting freakers, but once you finish the story and are just in the open world doing what you want that’s when the game is at its best IMO
@@markhowell9440 as someone who finishes maybe 10% of the games I play, it can actually be very high praise .. I can get bored pretty quickly and can be somewhat too critical at times to enjoy games for more than a few days/weeks. Days Gone is one of the only games ever I even replayed after finishing it entirely.
It was underrated because PlayStation fans were spoiled with titles like Last of Us, Uncharted, GoW, Spider-Man, etc etc, so that if it wasn’t a 10/10 in their book, it was nothing to them
Most humane first-party Sony exclusive game produced in a while. No truly, Days Gone approaches blockbuster epicness in its action scenes, but keeps the writing generally down to earth. Really appreciated the game for what it was trying to do.
So glad I took years off from gaming after the PS2 era I started gaming a couple years back and everything is new to me lol I started with PS3 and moved my way up .
Days Gone is one of the underrated games on the Playstation the story in my opinion did a unique take on Zombies. I did like the take on Motorcycles in the game.
I'm on my fourth playthrough. I'd pay for a sequel before the development even started. This and the last of us are 2 of the best games ever made in my opinion. I've become infatuated with apocalyptic themed games in recent years due to the tense political climate. Just feels right.
Glad the voice acting was recognised. A lot of scenes seemed like natural conversation and almost improvised. Decon murmuring to himself in anger passing hordes on the bike, awkward pauses, Everything felt so alive. Phenomenal game and had me hooked start to finish
Only single player game i completed in the last 4 years. Im anoyed theres not more games like this. I have more then 300 games but this game i just love it a lot.
I wish they made a sequel. Feel like it was one of those games that could of really benefited from it. I played it at the beginning of the pandemic and didn’t really get into it until about halfway. Then I was so engrossed and wanting so much more at that point cause you had to play a large chunk just to get to the meat of the game. There’s a lot to enjoy with this game and I think I’m due for a replay because of this video
This and driveclub need a sequel. Driveclub, despite how great it feels and looks, is severely lacking in content(especially if you missed out on downloading the dlc before it got pulled out) and lackluster single player mode, but these are nothing a sequel can't fix.
I got the game when it was brand new out. Played for an hour and got distracted for whatever reason, and did not play the game again. It's been years, and I went in my game library a week or so ago and saw days gone in there. I downloaded it on my ps5, and this time, I actually gave it a go. What a fantastic game it is. Honestly, so good. There is so much to do. The map keeps getting bigger. The story is spot on, the mechanics are really good, the different areas of the map actually feel different. The weather system is great, the motorbike is awesome to ride about with after a few upgrades, and killing hordes after the main quest is done is very enjoyable. The game feels at the level of rdr2 for me. A little behind, but not by much. And that's saying a lot. This game is definitely underrated.
i just bought this too, playing it right now on PC, beautiful game, and im having a blast playing this game. cant believe there isnt going to be a sequel.
This is probably the most derivative game I’ve ever played. It’s part last of us and part Red Dead. With a little bit of Ubisoft games thrown in there. But despite not having an original bone in its body, I’ve spent over 100 hours in it. Something about the gameplay loop keeps me coming back for more.
Great story, awesome graphics, and gameplay! It blows my mind how quickly this game was shelved by the public while lesser titles took all the spotlight.
@@adepressedcatwithabadnicot246 That may be true for you. I have been a gamer for most of my life and pretty much played them all. Its a personal thing really as is everything when it comes to likes and dislikes....its personal.
I was so impressed with this game, got it for free on PSN, didn’t think too much about it before that but my god it’s actually really enjoyable and fun to play. The hordes too are such a well done element. If you can get it for cheap it is definitely worth your money.
It is crazy how this game was optimized. I get this game to play at almost solid 60 fps on high settings with my 1650 at 99% and ryzen 5 mobile on 5-10%
i bought this game on the first day it came out, my personal experience was, that the start was kinda boring but as soon as i got upgraded gear and some understanding of the game, i got hooked. awesome game!
I’ve played this game more times than I can tell. Days Gone is my favorite game of all time simply because I loved it, it’s obviously not the best game of all time but it sure as hell is special.
This game was really good. Too bad that the developers said it didn't sold as expected so no sequel. Also chronologically this game takes place only 2 years after the Apocalypse.
I love the open world for two reasons: it feels dangerous and tense no matter where you are, and traversing it on the motorcycle is so damn fun. Why do all open world games make it a chore to travel around?
I absolutely love this game and hold out hope that one of the Sony studios will ultimately make the sequel that makes the leap that we know can be done. With that being said, I agree wholeheartedly that though the dialogue can be "rough" at times, it's one of the most natural performances I've seen in a game. "How people actually talk" is right on the money, instead of everyone being a "quip meme" from a "CW show."
Seriously one of my favorite games of all time. Definitely best ps exclusive imo. The beginning of it was slow but the story just kept getting crazier.
My only bad experience with the game was the part where you have to take a long walk with your wife and the part where the couple met after years of separation and their reaction was just bad...
i loved it. got platinum and it never felt like a chore to do so (one of the few platinums i ever got). one of the few problems, what many have said before: the main selling point of the game doesn't come until like 70% through the main story. Also, some people found Deacon talking to himself NONSTOP during the game to be annoying. I liked it. Yeah, kinda annoying at times but uhh i talk to myself a bit on the way to the store so i don't forget the shopping list of 3 items. It is understandable he is constantly reminding himself of stuff when riding through the apocalypse + after all that trauma, it makes sense that something up in the noggin broke.
I got this on its initial release. I gave up on it because it was buggy. I revisited it after I got the PS5, and I must say. It is truly an underappreciated game. It's too bad it won't get a sequel.
I love Days Gone, I'm on PC and the graphics are really nice. The open world story is great and the gameplay is excellent. The bosses put up one hell of a fight and the hordes are crazy large and intense. I only wish they had more weapons to choose from but that might be my only gripe with the game.
I haven’t played since it came out, but I did beat the entire game and most of the side content back then. I can tell you one thing for sure, the type of terror and dread this game can conjure inside of you is unique. There are impossible, suicide mission type situations it can leave you in. It doesn’t force you there though, it’s usually your own curiosity or overconfidence that leads you there. Then it leaves you to your own devices to try and find your way through it. The freaker hordes are a spectacle, not many games pull off the scale they can be found in on Days Gone. Definitely a really good game. Very deserving of its limelight.
I played it when it came out and didn’t get too far into it before quitting. I just came back and played it again and I was very surprised with how much I loved the game. Combat never gets repetitive and is always fun
Runnying out of gas was legit paranoia. It happened to me when I had to retrieve the lavender for the tea. I was so focused on getting the hoard to follow me far enough that I could go back and grab the lavender, I had completely ignored my gas. I ran out of gas trying to get away after retrieving the lavender. I had to run away, then sneak through half way through the map for a gas tank, then sneak back, stealth kill a ton of freakers, and at the same time avoid the hoard just to get my bike back. I killed over an hour doing this. I did not know I could have just walked to camp and pay to retrieve the bike. lol Oddly, towards the end, you get to a point in the tank upgrades that you hardly even have to think about, but also, there are gas tanks everywhere. I bet the developers had a laugh about it.
In my opinion I think that this is my favorite zombie game of all time, even though I love the Last of Us and Left 4 Dead 2, and all the Resident Evil games, there’s just something truly special about my experience through this game.
I made a huge mistake by not buying the PS4 version of the game early on because of the lukewarm reviews (I have a PS4 pro btw). After more than 2 years, when it was on sale on Steam (PC), I just decided to buy it as it was 50% off. Little did I know that the game is a masterpiece. The zombie horde challenges blew me away - better than L4D or any other zombie games. And the story was sensational and at the same time very emotional. I am hoping for a sequel!
I was late to ps4 2020, got all the main titles, this is the only game I've played through more than once, 4 times and counting, the longevity is unbelievable, it could be the fortnite of rpg.
Small error in this video: Arkane's "Prey"is ACUTALLY the most underrated game ever, as well as also being the TRUE Bioshock 3. I lie upon this hill for all eternity. Come, join me..
One of the most underrated games ever. Finished on PS5 and graphics are amazing! Has some tedious aspects to it but overall its a good immersive experience!
Just the fact that this game didn't get a sequel is criminal. The game was great and deliver in every aspect. Fun exploration, great combat, amazing graphics, and a good story.
When it shines, it's great. I love the gameplay loop of ride, get off for a mission or to hunt for gas or parts, fight humans or zombies (I'm not calling them "freakers," "freaks" would've been just fine), then either clear them out or narrowly escape with the freaks hot on your heels. They should've had more hordes and introduced you to them much even if they didn't adequately equip you to most effectively fight them right away, but it was the highlight of the game for a reason. They are so intense and so much fun. I got a little overzealous and actually killed off two-to-four of the smallest herds before the story officially wanted me to start fighting them. I enjoyed the story, and while I know some people (mostly corporate game journos) hated the characters, I found them rather endearing in their own way. They kept me going through the story. I also appreciated the bike upgrades and customization. If I had one complaint, it was the fact that it's open world and side content was way too Ubisoft if you catch my drift. Side content shouldn't all feel like a generic chore to check off a list that overstays its welcome. That's exactly what Ubisoft games do all the time, and Days Gone took a few too many pages from their open world design handbook imo. It's fine if there's a little bit of that, but ideally, side content should actually be substantive. Make it unnecessary but additive experience that actually gives you a little extra something about the story, the world, and its characters. The Witcher 3, I think, does incredibly well at finding this balance. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is dang near perfect and should be the template for how to do open world anything in general. Sony was really dumb not to give this a sequel. Was it perfect? No, but it was a solid foundation. Given the chance, the leap from 1 to 2 could've been like what the first Uncharted was to its way better sequel.
I found the first several hours, maybe even 10 hours to be a complete slog. Eventually I got really into it and enjoyed it very much. I could see somebody giving up on it before it gets good and walk away thinking it's a bad game.
I have never liked zombie games, but clips from the game started popping on UA-cam and TikTok, it looked so much fun specially with the hordes. I decided to purchased not to long ago and it was amazing, especially with mods on PC. The game had so much potential and room to grow with DLCs, to bad the studio bailed out on it.
Deacon is such a fantastic character, and u r correct, Sam Witwer does an amazing acting job. Days gone had a rough launch but definitely redeemed itself and deserves a sequel but Sony won't take their head out of their butts. What is also really cool, all these fans of the game have traveled to Oregon to see these sites in person and visit Bend studios.
Started Playing this game again on PC. This time modded it (adding daryl dixon and other stuff) as well as reshading it to give it a more realistic + grungy look to give it that walking dead vibe and i gotta say it makes the game so much more immersive and enjoyable than it already is.
This game is amazing. Even more incredible is how balanced it is with all the systems that are at play: graphics look stunning, the weather and vegetation systems are fantastic, the driving system works very well, human enemy and ally systems are good, crowd enemy systems for the Freakers are terrific, dismemberment systems, sneaking systems, fighting systems, crafting systems world traversal is smooth, etc, etc, etc. There is just so much at play, and in an open world, and all just works so well. The world is interesting, varied, and extremely detailed for its size. The music is fantastic. The performances are great across the board, specially for Deacon. The animation and mocap is great because it is subtle as opposed to exaggerated like on many other games (specially facial expressions). An engaging story. Great characters. Etc. Etc. Etc. There were many great games last gen but this one for me is both one of the most underrated and also one -if not the- standout of the generation, taking everything that became iconic during the generation (PBR materials, indirect lighting, open worlds, weather systems, cinematography, detailed performances, etc) and combined it in a refreshing game that wasn't a sequel or was tied to existing IP or lore.
Did you also know that this game is the sequel to siphon filter? Because if you look closely you'll find references that talks about the events of game also if you beat the game you get the taser gun from siphon filter.
I wouldn't be mad if they adapted this game into a live action well-budgeted series and then just build on from the story ending of this game for S2. Since they already decided not to create a game sequel, might as well use a different platform to keep the rich story going. There were a lot of questions unanswered in regarding to N.E.R.O. by the end of the game. There must be so much lore built for this game for them to leave questions unanswered.
This game is so good. It really is one of the best games I’ve ever played and one of the games that I haven’t been able to put down once it gets going after about 10 hours
I really liked this game and played it to the end and pretty much completed most of the side stuff. The only thing I didn't like about the game is that I felt really long after the half way point and I generally don't mind long games with large maps. However, I think its largely due to the fact that after you defeat the Rippers the game drastically changes the tone of the story and the fact that you are locked out of the main area you played in through out the game up until that point, until the end of it, which is then replaced with a new area almost the size of the entire previous playable area. I also believe it is that most of the side content is quite repititive for such a long game and, from what I remember, there being relatively few side quest, atleast outside of the camps. I know this is not a new problem with open world games, but for me this game specifically felt it had this issue worse than others and I play a lot of open world games. I still enjoyed the story and characters overall alot and thought the use of the specific survival and horde mechanics where quite good. It is a shame that there will probably not be a sequel.
Played through this about a year ago on Survival Mode - loved it! I think not being able to fast travel really added to the experience. It really helps that they nailed the bike. It feels great to drive and the upgrades are meaningful. It's comparable to how perfect they got the Magnum Opus in Mad Max. This game deserves way more love and a sequel!
This is the only zombie game that I finished. The only zombie game which I didn't get bored at. I'm currently playing the last of us and the og dying light.
I wanted to like dying light but the characters seemed dull to me and the color scheme was I think awful it was so bad it gave me a headache everytime I played it and the weapon system was a nuisance I never found any cool weapons I was hoping to find let me know how you like it so far I'm curious.
I played this game twice back to back. It's one of the best games i've played as a whole; I'd put it up there with RDR2 personally. It looks better than games today, the story and characters were very well written and actually made me gasp or cry at points, and the gameplay itself gets INTENSE. Idk how people don't like this game. It made some bold moves, and people love it or hate it i guess.
I dropped this after 2 hours, just didn't get into it but i constantly see "underrated" videos like this. I may try it out again sometime soon if i get in the zombie apocalypse mood. I've just never been into the "biker gang" thing so i struggled with the character. probably doesn't help that when I look at him all I see is Vader's secret apprentice.
I literally 100% completed this game, and I rarely do this. It was incredible, one of the best open world games I've ever played. (Mind you I played it relatively later on PS4 after the latest patches)

same, I just finished another replay and the world holds up soooo well today.
It’s not up to Sony tbf, the company who made it refuse to make another one due to the harassment they received, and the head dev is hated now.
@@rekdyoface4503 that’s not at all why a sequel isn’t being made… Jeff Ross said they tried to pitch a sequel to Sony Bend’s management and they wouldn’t even listen to his ideas and he was treated like a failure.
@@alextownley9388 the game was a massive media failure until recently that is why, not everything is white and black in business.
Yeah, the relationship between them works. It's charming and feels organic
@@ironbooze2937 yea it is slow at the start but at the final camp it really shows what days gone all about.
@@ironbooze2937 The start of the game is slow but story picks up quickly at the third camp.
Making yourself finish it doesn't sound like high praise
@@markhowell9440 My thoughts exactly
I made myself finish it too, for me the story and cutscenes were too much let me get back to shooting freakers, but once you finish the story and are just in the open world doing what you want that’s when the game is at its best IMO
@@markhowell9440 the game is super long so it’s saying something if you finish
I loved this game and i'm pretty tired of open world games, but this one does it right and the characters are just awesome, even shed some tears
So glad I took years off from gaming after the PS2 era I started gaming a couple years back and everything is new to me lol I started with PS3 and moved my way up .
Days Gone and RDR2 are my favorite games of all time, this game is so immersive.
One of the best games I’ve ever played on PC.
Glad the voice acting was recognised. A lot of scenes seemed like natural conversation and almost improvised. Decon murmuring to himself in anger passing hordes on the bike, awkward pauses, Everything felt so alive. Phenomenal game and had me hooked start to finish
The thrill of getting close to a horde and meticulously planning out the escape routes and traps is so much fun. Truly a wonderful game!
It would’ve benefited from being done right the first time instead of being rushed and cutting out everything that was interesting about it
I got the game when it was brand new out.
Something about the gameplay loop keeps me coming back for more.
the world is fun to explore too, all the danger and shit just make the experience great
Great story, awesome graphics, and gameplay! It blows my mind how quickly this game was shelved by the public while lesser titles took all the spotlight.
the best game last gen for me. a masterpiece
sorry to hear that
Then i guess you didn't played many games not saying Day's Gone is bad just that there were much better games.
It was my favorite last gen along with Red Dead 2
@Radisa Gunawardane ur missing spiderman
Days Gone is the best game I have ever played. Those that canned it should never be allowed anywhere near gaming ever again.
Agreed 👍
you need to play more games. it was mediocre.
@@adepressedcatwithabadnicot246 That may be true for you. I have been a gamer for most of my life and pretty much played them all. Its a personal thing really as is everything when it comes to likes and dislikes....its personal.
This game is getting heaps of attention latley... great news hopefully it will get a much deserved sequel now.
Survival II is the best experience for this game. Without HUD and fast travel. Great feeling…
That plus instant headshot mods and more agressive enemies
I always say, Days Gone is CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED! It was my first platinum btw
The beginning of it was slow but the story just kept getting crazier.
yeah this is sooo much better then god of war... dude..
Recently bought it on steam. Truly awesome game and super underrated.
This makes me wanna play the game again. I think I will. It’s a phenomenal game. Shame Sony gave up on it.
My only bad experience with the game was the part where you have to take a long walk with your wife and the part where the couple met after years of separation and their reaction was just bad...
Deek wouldnt even dip his toe in the river for a lil side boob, I would've drowned in the situation

i loved it. got platinum and it never felt like a chore to do so (one of the few platinums i ever got). one of the few problems, what many have said before: the main selling point of the game doesn't come until like 70% through the main story.
Also, some people found Deacon talking to himself NONSTOP during the game to be annoying. I liked it. Yeah, kinda annoying at times but uhh i talk to myself a bit on the way to the store so i don't forget the shopping list of 3 items. It is understandable he is constantly reminding himself of stuff when riding through the apocalypse + after all that trauma, it makes sense that something up in the noggin broke.
had the exact same experience with the game, didnt really mind the dialog and ended up platinuming it:)
I got this on its initial release. I gave up on it because it was buggy. I revisited it after I got the PS5, and I must say. It is truly an underappreciated game. It's too bad it won't get a sequel.
I love the part where you can fully explore the open world.
This game was 🔥🔥 - Really hoping for a part 2
This game is like one of those cool classmates in highschool whom the teachers (critics) hate for no reason
That zombie encounter at the NERO site was hilarious. "Don't throw him inside!"
In my opinion I think that this is my favorite zombie game of all time, even though I love the Last of Us and Left 4 Dead 2, and all the Resident Evil games, there’s just something truly special about my experience through this game.
This ones been on my sick/rainy day list for a while. Looking forward to checking it out!
I've played everything on every console Days Gone is the best videogame I've ever played... Put it in your ps5 and be amazed
I agree 100% one of the best games I've ever played. By far the best zombie survival games. Would have loved a sequel or DLC
Phenomenal game I hope they make a sequel
I was late to ps4 2020, got all the main titles, this is the only game I've played through more than once, 4 times and counting, the longevity is unbelievable, it could be the fortnite of rpg.
This ist one of my favorite Games
....great Story, great Gameplay...and the Open World Bike Action! 👍🏼🤠

Arkane's "Prey"is ACUTALLY the most underrated game ever, as well as also being the TRUE Bioshock 3.

One of the most underrated games ever. Finished on PS5 and graphics are amazing! Has some tedious aspects to it but overall its a good immersive experience!
Yes I agree, it was an absolute blast to play through 2 times. The bike as rpg element and oregon as open world were awesome!
Just the fact that this game didn't get a sequel is criminal. The game was great and deliver in every aspect. Fun exploration, great combat, amazing graphics, and a good story.
I love how in the gameplay you can go from overpowered to underpowered and outnumbered at the drop of a hat, always keeps you on edge
I ❤ this game, wish they would make a sequel
there is already a planned sequel but Sony decided not to push it.
@@BuildersBench and the guy who made the game attacks fans where he should have put the blame where it belongs on sony
Given the chance, the leap from 1 to 2 could've been like what the first Uncharted was to its way better sequel.
one of my top 5 games, when i played it i was to eager to not get off as the story was so gooood
I found the first several hours, maybe even 10 hours to be a complete slog. Eventually I got really into it and enjoyed it very much. I could see somebody giving up on it before it gets good and walk away thinking it's a bad game.
It’s kinda crazy how great this looks for an open world game.
RDR2: I’m I a joke to you?
Wonderful game. Would highly recommend ! Oregon looks beautiful too in this game, makes me want to visit
I wish it had base building integrated into it. Everything else is awesome.
Destroying the Horde is a fun play when you have MG55 and Napalm in your hands and you know some spot where you can do maximize damage to the hordes
It's basically the far cry map structure with bandit camps and shit with a bit of bike management and zombie hordes
Did you also know that this game is the sequel to siphon filter? Because if you look closely you'll find references that talks about the events of game also if you beat the game you get the taser gun from siphon filter.
Won what?
This game is amazing in hardcore mode or whatever it's called, the one that hides the HUD and makes it so you can't fast travel. Really immersive.
I wish that they allowed you to change his outfits and give you buffs towards different missions and set ups
I need to go back to this game, I can't remember why I stopped playing it.
This is one of the videos about one of the open world games I have played.
Watching this reminds me of when Beasty played it, it’s cool to see it again
This is the only zombie game that I finished.

One of my favorite Playstation exclusives ever. So many days gone in this game and I loved every moment.
This is the best/most fun commentary I’ve ever heard when it’s comes to Days Gone. 😂
I got this on steam during the sale, damn right this is a hidden gem!
It takes a little while to get going, but it builds and it ends up being an awesome game.
I literally 100% completed this game, and I rarely do this. It was incredible, one of the best open world games I've ever played. (Mind you I played it relatively later on PS4 after the latest patches)
