San Andreas is beautiful but gta 4 was so specific in minor details and also had fun moments for those who know how to appreciate a good game rather than be a gta 5 fanboi.
The things it was able to achieve in 2008 are still ridiculous. I know Crysis was the benchmark but then but to have this level of worldbuilding, graphics, physics and attention to detail only a couple years after the release of the PS3/X360 still blows my mind. No wonder they had to downgrade so many things for GTA 5, you barely had any systems capable of running this smoothly, let alone consoles. Also what's crazy is that they initially wanted to release GTA 4 in 2007. Could you imagine going from San Andreas(which had pretty subpar graphics for its time) to GTA 4 in only 3 years? Props to the developers, can't start to imagine what kind of crunch time they had to go through

I feel like that time of gaming was the end of passionately made games like gta 4 and far cry 2. Probably the most realistic 3rd and 1st person shooters of all time.
The weird zooms are due to the unlocked frame rate. This 2008 game was not meant to be played above 60 fps so you start seeing some weird behaviors on modern machines. You probably noticed a lot of npcs keep bumping into doors as well

GTA4 is special to me because it literally came out on my 17th Birthday on April 29, 2008 I was born in 91'. And just like in the story, I too am a Eastern European who came from one of those strange Eastern European countries to the United States when I was only 8 years of age. Not to mention, I live right next to Coney Island/Brighton Beach where Hove Beach is based off in the game so this is like my "Spirit Game".
@@cheez3184 I would love a bigger city. Liberty City is kinda small for today's standards. It should be scaled up to be at least twice as big. A remake could also add countryside areas around the city, just like Rockstar initially planned. GTA IV always lacked variety when it comes to locations. It's just one city surrounded by water.
This game is my childhood! I played it on my old laptop multiple times thinking that the stuttering is due to my crappy laptop, but when I fired it up on my newly built PC, I realized that the game is already busted :(
When you mentioned the Radio, I just stopped and listened about 40 min in all the radiostations of GTA IV. Man GTA is not a game, it´s a feeling. I play it since the first GTA, so much memories
One thing I never forgot in GTA IV is how Niko could always tell what Little Jacob was saying, when English isn't his first language, let alone Jamaican patois and we the player are in a constant state of "I don't understand a word you just said" Maybe Niko always had subtitles on. Makes intergrating into a foreign country much easier.
The story in this game is so gritty , mature, and just pure excellence . Yeah gta v has better graphics and an endless online mode , but gta 4 is definitely the better game hands down
The driving in GTA IV is great, it’s one of my favourite things about the game. People say it’s not “realistic” yet have no issue with GTA Vs cars sticking to the road like shit to a blanket. People were just annoyed you couldn’t put your foot down all the time, you actually had to slow down to corner otherwise the car would understeer
It's not great, don't kid yourself. It's one of the most annoying things about this game and when you need drive at high speed to reach your destination or chase someone it can seriously ruin the fun. I don't care about "realism" if it ruins my enjoyment.
This game needs a remake desperately ( for consoles ) ,but sadly because of what happened with the GTA Trilogy, I don’t see this happening anytime soon
Vice city was my first gta but 4 was my first one i owned and its still above 5 when it comes to memories. The story and dlc were all top tier and the multi was just an experience

I think Jayvee might have forgotten that Michele is actually an FIB agent and is only interested in Niko because she is undercover, she even shows up in gta V.
This GTA is Like Far Cry 2, The Little Details makes the world Really Lived In
I feel like that time of gaming was the end of passionately made games like gta 4 and far cry 2. Probably the most realistic 3rd and 1st person shooters of all time.
IV is a dark and beautiful testament of its era. My favorite game of all time.
The most realistic gta game with the best story
If your talking about the physics, the physics are funny than realistic and that’s why we like GTA 4’s physics.
Thx you for the play through. Since its only $7 sale its going to be a buy for me
The weird zooms are due to the unlocked frame rate. This 2008 game was not meant to be played above 60 fps so you start seeing some weird behaviors on modern machines. You probably noticed a lot of npcs keep bumping into doors as well
I love this game. I remember spending literal hours speeding up to some fixed object to get Niko thrown from whatever vehicle I was driving and watching his ragdoll go crazy. So much fun.
I loved GTA IV way more than GTA V. Not just the main game but the DLCs too, ex. Ballad of Gay Tony.
Recently upgraded my PC and replaying this! One of the most immersive open worlds of all time.
It's the highest rated GTA game for a reason.
Gta 5 say hi😂
Driving keeping the car intact was impossible and the overall controls were horrible, but it’s a game worth playing again.
I LOVE THIS GAME. Best GTA imo forsure. This was such a step forward in open world games. This game sadly became irrelevant. It really deserves more love.
It was more a downgrade for open world games but ok.
San amdreas Open world was more filled and was overall better and you say such a thing like gta 4 was a step forward lol
@@Rachebart GTA 4 map feels big even it's kinda small it's filled with interesting stuff and details while GTA SA map seems empty
@@RachebartTo be honest, GTA IV is one of the best GTA games still, even though it wasn’t AS good as GTA SA, GTA IV was way ahead of its time.
I been playing this game for the first time on the steam deck and I been loving it, it's quickly becoming my favorite GTA plus it runs great on the deck
I think this is the best gta ever
GTA IV driving gives some Dark Souls vibes, like "sure, it feels clunky and punishing, but once you get th hang of it you'll FEEL like a great driver"
I totally forgot about it too. I saw that I had it on steam and decided to try it and it's like really good. Now I have a much faster computer so I can play it on max graphics settings and it's amazing. The physics engine is so good, especially for the time
I just love Niko's accent.
Love GTA 4 also I think it’s one of the more underrated GTA games even though the driver and shooting and Aiming is very frustrating at times
I forgot how easy it was to fly out of the car in a collision, and I still love it.
This is by far the greatest video game of all time
IV is the most realistic GTA game by far. I wish it was remade with modern graphics and a bigger city.
We don't need a bigger city, that would just be annoying.
I played it on my old laptop multiple times thinking that the stuttering is due to my crappy laptop, but when I fired it up on my newly built PC, I realized that the game is already busted :(
Yeah it’s sadly a mess when it comes to performance
Enjoyed the game at my old computer setting a 640x480 , that was a time
@@Juanguar i guess its because the euphoria physics cause bad performance , thats why they toned down it in gta v that aspect
It unironically runs worse than V
@@lennartj.8072 and wtf i am telling you about? Its because of physics, i seen idiots complaining about physics in gta v not looking good as gta iv
When you mentioned the Radio, I just stopped and listened about 40 min in all the radiostations of GTA IV. Man GTA is not a game, it´s a feeling. I play it since the first GTA, so much memories
Better than GTA5 as well. Should play Liberty City next.
As a Jamaican I feel happy you spoke in our accent 😂
when we were kids it was an ok game. Now as adults, we understand the deep story more and by far this has to be the best gta
No bro. Only the story cant make the game the best. There are much more and vesides the story everything else isnt that good.
@@RachebartGTA V ain’t any better
One thing I never forgot in GTA IV is how Niko could always tell what Little Jacob was saying, when English isn't his first language, let alone Jamaican patois and we the player are in a constant state of "I don't understand a word you just said"
Maybe Niko always had subtitles on. Makes intergrating into a foreign country much easier.
The cutscenes in this game do a weird zoom in thing when the fps goes above 30. Just how the engine is.
physics and handling were PERFECT
The story in this game is so gritty , mature, and just pure excellence . Yeah gta v has better graphics and an endless online mode , but gta 4 is definitely the better game hands down
6:46 Roman getting life kicked out of him in the background while Niko goes one on one, then 6:54 "oh they're two of 'em" lmao
@@the_seer_0421Let’s be honest, at least it isn’t physical driving.
This game needs a remake desperately ( for consoles ) ,but sadly because of what happened with the GTA Trilogy, I don’t see this happening anytime soon
GTA 4 and rdr 2 the best Games ever
Skipped school the first week this came out. Fun times lol.
My favorite game of all time. I’ve played through the story literally at least 15 times
4 was fantastic.. I think it was the last GTA map I fully memorized, like it was a real town.
Let's be honest that Gta 4 is better than Gta 5.
gta iv taught me how to drive i swear bro 😂😂 weight distribution management, cutting corners and my anticipation abilities it was so realistic
Just started replaying it recently. Immediately got sucked back in after my first cab ride 😂
Gta 4 is my favourite game
Loved GTA 4 ever since I played it for the first time, though I liked GTA 5, it helped reinforce my love for 4.
As more of a sim racer dude I really enjoy the driving in this game compared to GTA V where the cars feel really light
Right? The details... Like the way suspensions work when the car hits curb, I think it's way more believable than in GTA5.
Vice city was my first gta but 4 was my first one i owned and its still above 5 when it comes to memories. The story and dlc were all top tier and the multi was just an experience
It’s probably the best GTA when u really look at all of them. So far
14:00 to stop the camera from spinning (it happens often when you're using a controller), go on display settings and turn off Handbrake cam
this game just felt so solid, i mean something as simple as crashing into another car feels wayyy more realistic than gta 5.
IV did so much better
i know exactly what you're talking about. love that feeling
I'm been playing GTA4 too and i think it could be the best in series....gta5 story was ok, but i prefer the starting from the bottom and working your way up.
