This is a very informative explanation to the layman ( of which I am one ) so I have a question in regards to compressors . I have a standard headphone jack into my Macbook and from there it goes to my Bose L18 which is fine BUT ! the the dowloaded music is not downloaded at the same volume so in many cases the music leaps up and it's a mad dash to make alterations and turn it down and of course the opposite applies ( very annoying and very common ) so what would you suggest to interrupt the the sound to make it neither up or down but consistent once set on it's way to the Bose ! . ( kinda like having a little chap on a mixer constantly changing the output volume from the Macbook ) . Thanks
Just found your channel and I'm excited to learn more than I have already. Just sucks I don't have wavelength and I'm running in circles trying to get this all to run in OBS but I'm hitting brick wall after brick wall. Just wanted to vent that. thanks for all the tips!

Great video guide. but you didn't mention the most important thing in the video. Does it require me to have a WaveXLR audio interface or anything else related to Elgato or you can just run it freely with any microphone you have?
If you have the wavexlr it will be good since it will let you use any xlr mic, if not you need any elgato mics for it since they use wave link, hopefully this clears it up

see my issue is my obs mic sounds amazing. i have a sm7b and its perfect in obs. my issue is in game and on discord my mic sounds clear but its not as good as obs bc I dont have my plugins. Im wondering if there is anyway i can get it set up so people hear me in game and in discord with plugins. my idea is there has to be some sort of voice changer out there that lets you add plugins then in game and in discord you change your mic and instead of choosing your microphone you chose the voice changer mic. but idk if that's a thing someone help me out please. I really want to add a eq and compressor to my voice in game to make it sound just that much more better

I have a cheapo mic from IDK where that is a webcam mic combo. When I play Fortnite it picks up the game audio as well. I found this video when trying to find a solution.
somebody help me with this. i have condenser mic with balanced out. my preamp amplifies and feeds it power but. i end up with stereo signal that is in opposite phases . i use "mic in" of my PC. i end up with irritating sound. Hey guys, I recommend you guys to a little software on android to measure the room's noise and it's called soundmeter. And it's handy for setting up the gate and stuff.
My Wave Link VST EQ Settings never save after I turn off my computer. I already reinstalled the software and everything is updated but still have this problem.
I am searching for a good streaming sound interface with VST plugins. Seems most dont support VST only own built in EQ, compresser etc :-( And wave link is only for Wave mic. *sigh*
Hi, I try to install Noise Suppression (RNNoise) but it's just a zip with dll files in it, not an installer for the VST file like the other download links. Am I doing something wrong? How do I use this dll file? Can't seem to add it in Wave Link.
Ah, I figured it out: You are supposed to unzip, then put that whole "windows_rnnoise_bin_x64" inside the C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2 folder (or make that folder if it isn't there). Then it'll appear as an effect under Misc Vendors in Wave Link. Helps massively with mouse clicks!
Hello from Italy, and sorry for my not perfect english. Thank you for the video! My micrphone elgato wave 1 sounds pretty perfect, i have only one (big) problem. With the RNN noise suppressor in wave link everything works perfectly except when I scream and use higher frequencies (for example when i scream in horror games). The suppressor cuts the scream in a very annoying way. Please, how can I fix it?
Wavelink is software intended for Elgato Wave Microphones (I do not know if they work with other mics if you don't have one plugged in) and all of the plugins are altering the sound input before they go into the next desired piece of software, such as OBS or even Discord.
ive been using the "wave link stream" for most of my programs, is there a difference between that and the "wave link microphone fx" which one should I use?
wave link stream outputs everything going through the program. Microphone FX is only audio from your Microphone INCLUDING the plugins added in the video. Regular Mic In in just basic mic audio
Will any of these also help with increasing the volume on your mic? My mic is always incredibly quiet. I can turn it up myself on OBS with gain filter. But on Discord and stuff it is still very quiet.
For real. I am so upset. I was excited to find stuff but then I realized that the stupid fucking elgato wave link requires a device that I don't have. Bro left out the most important detail.
Any tips about more drastic voice changing effects and how to recreate them real time with basic filters? Voices like Ultron, death troopers, or basically any intense sci fi voices. Great vid, cheers mate.
Other than the obvious voice-changer software like Voicemod, there are Krotos's Simply Monsters and Dehumanizer, which might work (they do seem to function in the Wavelink VST stack, though they aren't "official" in Elgato's eyes). Neither is free. Dehumanizer is much more powerful, and also much more expensive (I haven't tried it, though I did trial Simply Monsters). So far I find it difficult to get away from unwanted digital artefacts on heavily modified voices (particularly when going up in pitch), but I'm also a neophyte. There might be a way (which I'd love to hear).
Melda Production have a free Production Crate that contains lots of VST FX like Vibrato, Delay, Reverb, Pitch Bending. Would recommend checking it out!
As far as EQ goes. High pass and low pass spoken word. You’ll also get rid of quite a bit of unnecessary background noise and boomy bumps of the table. You can high pass between 100-200 depending on your vocal carrier frequency and low pass between 10k-15k to get rid of a lot of “airy” background noise especially if your gear doesn’t have the best pre-amps. Try it out. Useful sibilance is between 5k-10k. If you’re singing you can ignore this for the most part, but always at least high pass.
I was going to suggest the same thing. The safe zone for almost any mic/voice is to high pass/low pass below 90 and above 12.5. Every listener, short of people on really good monitors/headphones, can't even hear this change, but it cleans up vocal mics a lot.
