26:22 Pretty sure the idea is that Sage wants a family "born of love and not genetics" because she WASN'T born of genetics, she isn't Eggman's actual daughter, so when she sees Sonic and Tails acting like brothers even though they actually aren't, she realises it really is possible to form a family "born of love". Anyway, glad to see you enjoyed the game, I don't know if it's my personal favourite 3D Sonic game, but I really enjoyed it too.
I took it as genetics being analogous to code, and that she wanted love beyond just being Eggman's creation. Eggman already appreciated her for her efficiency as his creation, but she wanted a love that was beyond that, out of mutual bond, and she got exactly that. I can see your interpretation now too though.
Really makes me wonder how that slipped past Charii, but I do guess with writing an entire script kinda gets to you and all that, so it's odd but nothing too terrible
The song that plays for the first set of credits cements that idea, I feel like that whole song was just a "final" message for eggman what she wanted to say to him but she doesn't know how to and eggman too fixated on beating sonic to listen.
@@PixelHeroViish I mean, the actual meaning of Sonic's advice to Elise slipped by him in his 06 video despite Sonic literally defining it in the line before. It happens
The only way they can make up for that is if it turns out that the planetoid wasn't all. Like, it was just the most that we could comprehend of The End. And in the next game it returns, not having truly been destroyed, but seeking to do to Sonic's World what it did to the ancients.
@@xapath3tic it is implied that "the end" was not complete, since sage say "if he is complete not even super sonic will be able to stop him!" which means that the moon form... is not actually the true "end" and as such, let the game on a cliffhanger

36:56 For a while I agreed that The End's motivation was a let down, but then I thought. An ethereal being that's clearly intelligent destroying everything just because it can...not gonna lie that's actually terrifying. The fact that it just wishes to destroy everything just because it simply can is terrifying. And not to mention in its monologue it mentions that even if we destroy this "incarnation" it will return. Sonic basically had his own Ganon now
I get what you mean, and I do think that’s pretty scary. I think the issue though results in us having such little time with The End for it to actually have an impact. We have the mystery of whatever wiped out The Ancients but in this context I feel like we need more interactions with The End proper, rather than the times it talks to Sonic under the facade of helping so Sonic will unknowingly let it out. We need to hear more of that uncaring attitude. Don’t need to understand it or anything, but besides the ending monologue we need to have The End hammer it home to Sonic just how much it doesn’t care and will pursue its carnal desire to destroy. I feel like that would improve upon its given motivation far better.
@Christian Schoff Technically it's more implied. In its monologue it says things like "You strike this incarnation" and "No matter what form I take." That kind of hints its a being like Ganon, something that reincarnate and take a different form whenever it dies.
I love the chance of someone who hasn’t seen Sonic before playing Frontiers’ campaign through for the first time and hearing Sonic say “who broke me out of prison”
Also any references they make to older games. If someone entirely new plays sonic frontiers, they'll be missing out on so many older references. Idk if that's good or bad...it just feels like you're missing out on something bigger.
@@SonySlasher2468 Tails was the one who destroyed ALL the GUN robots inside the prison. Amy probably was right by him and walked ahead as Tails was busy. Still, the credit should go to both of them imo.

35:28 Fun fact: Ian Flynn originally pitched that Sonic would turn into Hyper Sonic as a result of him calling upon the power of the ancients, but SEGA rejected it.
@UpsAndDowns87 you remember how he flashes rainbow colors, yeah, that caused hundreds of children to experience epileptic seizures when they got him in his debut game. Basically, SEGA has PTSD from the bloodshed they caused with Hyper Sonic and they do NOT want a repeat of history, that is why.

22:09 Due to his name being canonically changed to Tails the Fox, 2% of people who’s first Sonic game wasn’t a classic game will have no idea his real name is Miles Prower, until now
15:49 I always assumed the implication was that Knuckles _tried_ to punch the ruins but because he's still "ghosty" he phased through it and he thought it was just _that_ sturdy. He's cooler in this game but he can still occasionally be a dolt is what I was thinking.
In a cutscene with Tails, he is shown knocking on a structure when inspecting it. You even hear his hand connect with the stone, so they can touch some things when digitized.
Honestly, its probably a case of being related to the island I mean, some parts of the ground have the different material some of the structures use, and none of them fall through the floor Its probably considered as ground so they dont phase through it, or it could have something to do with the island itself
13:25 I'm not sure we actually know how much time passes between the adventures Knuckles feels obligated to join in on, but I imagine right after it's done and over with, he heads straight back to Angel Island as he is duty bound. The point is that Sonic is free to come and go as he pleases ALL the time.
The irony is that Adventure 1 was supposed to RELIEVE Knuckles of that at least a little considering the Emerald shrine was supposed to have been restored with Chaos and Tikal helping to guard it according to the Super Sonic story ending pic. The Divergence animation does show the two of them still being around in spirit form, for what that's worth.
So, we're just going to ignore the fact that, like, 90% of the games literally exist because Knuckles just... doesn't do his job, usually to go fuck around with Sonic. I'm pretty sure that he has plenty of freedom. That freedom just comes at the price of dooming the world for 20 minutes until Sonic fixes it, while Knuckles stands there.
My guess for why the "spooky sky voice" only spoke to Sonic and not the others trapped in Cyber Space is that Sonic being able to actually escape after ending up there, something previously considered impossible, made the voice fixate on him for further observation and investment.
36:52 While I definitely agree that they could have fleshed this out much better (and with a more fitting final boss fight), I read that The End's appearance varies from person to person depending on what they perceive death to look like (according to Kishimoto), and as a result we never see its true form. Now I don't quite know why Sage or Sonic think of the moon as death (unless it's just what the player is supposed to see, while Sage/Sonic see something different) but I sorta thought of it as one of those things you don't really think too hard about. I feel like The End is meant to be quite literally "the end" instead of some super god; rather, it's just death incarnate.
Can't really speak on Sage... but with Sonic, I'd like to think it's because of a mix of: - Space Colony Ark; it was moon-like in appearance before Eggman activated it, and he used the Eclipse canon to destroy the actual moon itself - Dark Gaia, whose powers were more effective on people (including Sonic) at night Like maybe it's less "he sees the moon itself as death" and more "he associates it with death because some of the deadliest things he's fought were." Course this is entirely headcanoning. But it *is* fun food-for-thought.
@@izzy1356 That makes a lot of sense! I think maybe the Death Egg could also be a part of it? We don't really know what's going on inside of Sonic's head during the classic games, but the Death Egg definitely felt like a looming threat over the course of S3&K. It's all pretty open-ended and up to interpretation and I can always appreciate that in a game. :)
So… to quote Puss in Boots; The Last Wish.. “I’m death. And I don’t mean that Metaphorically, or rhetorically, or Poetically, or Theoretically or in any other fancy way. I’m Death, Straight Up.”
honestly one small idea that i had for the end's updated fight could be you playing as super sonic flying through space whilst dodging asteroids that are fired from the end planetoid thing, similar to the wyvern fight where you have to dodge the missiles. and there'd be a phase where you ride over the surface on the end destroying certain bits of it like the dark gaia fight all while the four titans fight alongside you. probably ain't that great of an idea but it's a small thought i had lol

13:16 I assume Knuckles doesn't live his life because Knuckles goes back to tending the Master Emerald as a job between adventures. And many of his collaborations with Sonic revolve around stopping Eggman, which is just an extension of his job of protecting the Master Emerald, since it's on Eggman's radar.
12:30 the reason is that wyvern moves so fast and all of the things on its body are casting a shadow which makes it look buggy. If you slow down the footage, you can kinda see it.
Yeah the Wyvern has lots of spines which all cast a shadow and for some reason the sunlight in this game doesnt scroll smoothly and instead uses 1 frame to move a certain distance that is very noticeable when you see a shadow on the ground
It's also because of the distance of the Wyvern in comparison to the group. Shadows tend to look larger depending on how close or far it is, and the legs of the Wyvern make the shadow look jagged and off because of the lesser detail of the shadow
19:10 - I would like to point out that the writer for Sonic Frontiers, Ian Flynn, who is also the head writer for the IDW Sonic comics, has stated that the open world dialogue snippets are where he had the most freedom in regards to the writing. Bear in mind, the English script was done by Flynn, but the story itself is Sonic Team. Why do I say this? Because the open world dialogue is mostly fluff; It's largely not relevant to the plot.
I really loved the relationship between sage and eggman, it made me shed a few tears, when sage semi died at the end and eggman being alone at the cliffs
9:05 well that's because at one point in time Kronos was going to be as big as Ares and Chaos but due to time constrain it got cut down into 3 separate islands. Which I find it really weird.
16:46 I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who was kind of freaked out by that. Also, in terms of the ending, they ran out of budget for the last islands and the main boss fight. This was the best they could do 😔
@@sb6196 I think he means that Ian Flynn and Sonic Team are trying to imply that IDW canon and the games are gonna be one universe, making the idw comics canon and giving them opportunity to add the idw characters into the games themselves, since they have full ownership over the comics this time
@@Doobie-kx8fk how? If anything it's a good thing to unify the universes despite the contradictions. Lets comic characters appear in the shows and games, keeps the lore consistent, etc
@@NoahInfinity I don't think there's an issue with characters from different medias appearing in others ones. The video already mentions that Tangle was literally in a mobile game. I just think the unification of continuity is just gonna lead a bunch of confusion. Like if we're to assume Boom is canon thanks to Amy mentioning Sticks, then when did Boom happen? Why did Sonic and the team along with Robotnik stay on island for an undefined amount of time? What does this mean for Lyric's race that is also known as a highly advanced civilization called the Ancients? You can't just slap everything together, not elaborate, call it a day, and expect me to just sit there thinking it'll make sense when it very clearly doesn't.
Sage has to be a permanent part of the series. She added depth to Eggman. Old Eggy felt love for the first time in his life. He called her his daughter. Now my main criticism, we were learning about the origin of the Chaos Emeralds. The Ancients are clearly the same species as Chaos but no one mentions him. I assume Chaos was one of the survivors that fled to what would become Angel Island. But no one acknowledges it when they’re already making references to past games. The only acknowledgement is in a completely option recording from Eggman’s diary. And that’s still something that should be acknowledged in the story. And the final boss is so… weird. I understand it’s “The End” the end of the world incarnate. But wtf is it? Why was it after the Ancients? Was it drawn by the Emeralds? What’s up with the Master Emerald? They just found it. So what’s the deal, are we learning the origin of the Emeralds or not? I need answers dammit!
There could have been an awesome Easter egg with a lone koco somewhere on the last island speaking of memories of a group of ancients making a shrine for 'the large emerald" that draged them all to earth as part of the small group that left when the end destroyed everyone, blacking out and then waking up on the Starfall islands saying something like " I feel like I'm not really here" and we figure out it's a cyber space memory upload of who chaos once was before losing the koco . The koco could.remember losing it's sentience for a bit explaining why chaos can't even talk in the ancient language by devolving into a guard dog for the master emerald. Gosh I'm actually a bit upset they didn't expand on chaos at all given what this game revealed. Still hits top 3 Sonic games though.
Isn't the lore that Chaos is a Chao that became mutant from its connection to the master emerald? So isn't the implication that the Ancients ARE the Chao?
We actually fight The End only in Hard Mode apparently (I played Normal Mode I think) but Sonic beats it in a cutscene, which left me even more disappointed of the ending.
The lack of information on the End is honestly kind of the point though? The End is supposed to be an entity with an Eldritch presence and so little knowledge being given is what makes it imposing. Like Dark Matter from Kirby.
I had a feeling you could do that but I never really tried it since they still descend and even then you still find other ways to get to the other parts of chaos island anyway.

39:30 My best guess is that the zap symbol represents cyberspace, a borderline alternate dimension that the souls of the ancients can live in or at least exist in, so I’m thinking that in the post-post credit scene eggman is uploading Sage’s AI or personality into cyberspace so she can “live on” since it’s been clarified that cyberspace contains the ancients’ hopes, dreams and personalities, I can only assume that’s what Eggman is doing here
Yeah, it was almost certainly the symbol for Cyberspace. My personal headcanon wasn't that Eggman uploaded a copy of Sage to Cyberspace, rather that he recovered her from it. Think about it, Cyberspace was described was a way that the Ancients could upload essentially their souls for safekeeping and to keep a record. With all the time Sage spent in Cyberspace, mastering control over it, there's a chance she could have been salvaged from the code
I heard that it meant Peace, since it shows up when you give the ancients peace, and sage doing her 'function' was probably a peaceful death so the symbol got attached to her coding somehow, thus why it shows up when she comes back online. Other than that idk what it means
9:10 I think it might be a similar situation to the real life case of Lewis and Harris, a single large island that is treated as two clearly separate ones by the locals.
19:31 tangle is a character he met recently as the IDW comics are Canon and take place after forces, and the comics have not currently caught up to frontiers but the IDW comics are canon and since Ian Flynn helped create the character at least if I remember correctly and what's the main writer of the game it was likely him that wanted to bring her up
17:40 I love the fact you and Nathaniel Bandy both did this and complained about it when there's a really cool underground area to get to one of the islands and a rail system that leads to the others and in fact did a weird sort of "skip" instead They were a bit hidden but both places are a lot of fun to run through to get to the islands and much easier than flying the bird around (and also fit more in with the rest of the game than randomly flying an enemy to a new spot)
I used the Eagle out of random curiosity to see if it would work XD I honestly did not expect the plan to succeed at all actually.. but low and behold it actually did.

I think I was so exhausted of mediocre sonic games that finally having a FUN AND GOOD sonic game was almost alien to me. Your criticism of The End was so perfect and really voiced my exact feeling towards it. I wish it was done better but at the time I didn't care. The music, the ikaruga, and the general memory and fun I had of the game carried me through. Also I am sad you didn't remove sins for the BANGING SUPER SONIC FIGHTS
This game's biggest sin is that it presented itself as an answer to a lot of the questions in the sonic universe, but ended up creating SO MANY MORE. My biggest question that nobody brings up is why the phantom ruby and its affects look so similar to the ancients tech. I was so confident that this game would expand upon the phantom ruby's lore, but now I'm just wondering why they look so similar.
Overall I absolutely enjoyed Sonic Frontiers but I can acknowledge it’s flaws such as leveling one point of Speed/Ring capacity with the Hermit Koco dunno how they screwed that up when they got leveling Strength and Defense right to the point, Cyberspace not being as fun as it could be and only having 4 level themes, however the music makes up for it, fighting certain mini bosses can be janky too like running up Asura, grinding on the rails fighting Strider and getting blocked by its legs as you grind. I’d also remove a Sin for the Knight Fight where Super Sonic wields it’s sword against it which is like 50 times the size of him and slices it, Final Fantasy Sonic X was easily the best reference and I hope they lean into more things like that. I’m also gonna add a Sin for Sonic not giving a single care about Sage sacrificing herself and Sonic having talk to Eggman about it and telling him what she told him, and Eggman saying “this doesn’t change anything, we are still arch enemies.”
.....Lighting engine? Honestly, my problem is Sonic Team seeing that they had problems in Forces, and some higher ups response was to increase the scope. How unpredictable that a lot more ideas seem poorly fleshed out, the games are starting to get glitchier and even the developers are starting to publically complain about time crunch...
@@Jann75 Well to be fair, Forces only had ~1 year of dev time (Hedgehog Engine 2 being the bulk of the gap between games) while Frontiers had 4 or 5 (I believe they said active development started in 2018). I also *think* Iizuka had said that Open Zone was his idea? Not 100% sure on that one, but either way I'd say the issue was definitely the size/budget of Sonic Team and not the scope of the project necessarily. Iizuka did have to practically beg corporate for an extra year to work on the game though, so I'm not trying to say that the higher ups are blameless in this.
I do find Sage sad moment hilarious cause it is just cutscenes we've ready seen so it truly doesn't feel that sad just pity really. I feel it may have been better if they showed Eggman slowly making sage stage by stage. Watching her learn how to hack watching her learn about herself maybe sweet moments between her and Eggman that would've really made it better. Show us a emotional side of Eggman how he slowly growing to enjoy Sage company and how Sage love grows for Eggman.
For me, the part where it really fell flat was that her flashbacks were cutscenes I'd literally just watched a minute or so beforehand, rather than from over the course of the game.
13:26 He might be telling Knuckles to just go out and explore for reasons not related to work…. Cause whenever Knuckles is playable it’s usually cause it’s in his best interest to work with Sonic
Speaking of the Eagle enemies on Chaos Island, I found a hilarious bug. I managed to unlock both the dark blue and red Chaos Emeralds at once and decided to go for the red first instead of dark blue. After I got the red one, the cutscene where the Knight played through, but since the devs thought you’d go to the dark blue emerald first, I loaded into the dark blue emerald shrine, while the emerald was still in the vault😆
Happened to me, too! I found Big's fishing spot before I got a chaos emerald, and incidentally purchased a bunch of vault keys cuz "eh, why not" and unlocked everything early (again. fishing is totally busted). Went after yellow and was surprised to see I was sent to blue's island.
I had an almost identical situation, I got one earlier since I've done some Cyberspace stages and got enough vailt keys to have 3 emeralds unlocked, I got the Yellow one (if I rememebr correctly) first and the game teleported me to the blue one for the Knight encounter next to the Blue emerald lmao
23:48 Eggman didn't just get locked up then state the obvious, he also played the role in leading the characters there (he was on the phone to team chaotix the whole time)
10:30 I think the whole “wiped out in a generation” thing is referring to the ancients that stayed behind on the islands. The end only attacked the islands, and in that same memo it mentions the resulting environmental changes that happened as a result. My guess is that the ancients that escaped either thought the soldiers were killed along with the End, or the soldiers killed the End but so much damage was done that they had to rebuild before anyone could come back to the islands. Either way the ancients that left DEFINITELY became the Chao.
4:58 Make that four, technically five. Sonic Chronicles actually has tarot card readings as one of Amy's special attacks. 8:15 It'd make sense that the fishing pond isn't actually a pond and more so a data reservoir. That's why you're capable of catching all sorts of random things, and because Cyberspace takes in all data wherever it can, it'd make sense that it'd get a recording of Eggman's memos made within it. 12:29 That's not the lighting bugging out. That's the Wyvern's sections as a shadow flickering over the area. 17:48 While utterly ingenious, I've *never* had to do that in the game. I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of solving the map revealing puzzles to get level geometry to spawn in. Sorry for nitpicking! Just some things that stuck out to me. It's nice to finally have this after waiting for so long.
The Koco just spawn in when Sonic is standing still for long enough. I guess he assumes he's gonna be in the same place for a while so he takes them out of his interdimensonal pocket to let them play a bit
That remark about how the Ancients and Babylonians could land on Earth/Mobius while the Black Arms needed the Chaos Emeralds break through the atmosphere feels like something that would come up between Shadow and Jet if they went to the Starfall Islands. The End is just those meteors from that Dinosaur episode of Rick and Morty though Also I wouldn't mind seeing at least Tails use his Boom design the next time we see him. And imagine if Sage roasted Infinite.
37:17 My thing is, it wants destruction for destructions sake. It did say it wanted to bring order to the universe through destruction. It gives me Galactus/Solus(marvel) vibes. It's just its purpose. I also had the idea that when sage said "It's going into space to achieve its true form" that the "moon" we see was its hatchling state. If we didnt beat it in time, it's true form Wouldve emerged, and THAT'S what super sonic couldnt beat.
@@gamercentral2417 The issue with ur logic is its less of a theory and more of a confirmed statement. The end does literally state "All the teeming of life, brought to order, to neutrality, to nothing" Its goal is order through destruction.

@@derekstryder2281 I agree they're not truly "Super Tails" (cuz no super emeralds) and "Super Knuckles", but by the presence of the emeralds' energy at all, I'd still consider them in their super forms.
To clarify on where that shadow came from (12:29), the Wyvern is flying around Ares Island until you beat it. It's possible that it was just flying above you while this cutscene occured
I haven't played Frontiers yet, but I do really enjoy what I've seen of it, it feels really well done. Also, you can tell Ian Flynn wrote it. Anyone who's read the Zombot Arc in the IDW comics will know exactly what I mean. Sonic's cyber corruption specifically reminded me of that IDW arc. If you know, you know lol.
So remember when you said the lighting engine was bugging? It wasn't. If you look up, you'll see that the wyvern boss fight just circles the island endlessly until you fight it. It was casting the ominous shadow of your next big foe, but the intimidation factor didn't give the same energy sometimes.
Although I did find the final boss a bit underwhelming. I do think the game is setting up some stuff for us down the years to come. Every character now has their own journey to take in a future title. Tails going off to be his own hero. Amy going to spread her love and care across the world. Knuckles deciding to finally start living off his lonely island. Add in the still unknown understanding of ZAP along with Sage returning, specifically with that symbol. Plus add in the dialogue of The End straight up saying that the underdeveloped form we defeated it in is just one of many, along with saying it comes for all. I really don't think we've seen the end of The End. Maybe we'll get a proper boss fight with it. Cause despite it's problem I arguably see it as a step up from everything we've faced. It's not a machine or another god, but a literal manifestation of NOTHING. It's a cosmic horror that even in it's own monologue mentions it'll bring order to that of the chaos that is life and everything through it's destruction. In the grand scheme of things. Does a cosmic abomination that consumes everything to nothing really need that complex of a reason to just consume.
"Does a cosmic abomination that consumes everything to nothing really need that complex of a reason to just consume." YES THIS. That'd be like criticizing Mephiles for doing the same thing, Eldritch Abominations have never really needed concrete motivations to destroy things.

What can one mote of golden light illuminate within the abyss? Countless stars. Countless worlds. Countless lives. All fell to me, all brought to nothing. All the teeming chaos of creation? Brought to order. To neutrality. To nothing. I saw your mind as you ran through my prison. You have fought machines and gods. They were mighty? They were finite. I am infinite. I am nothing. You struggle as so many have done before. You will be consumed like all those before you. I saw your mind. Your courage never wavered. Why? Arrogance? Ignorance? Stupidity? I was contained once. Once. Is that why? My captors bent time and space. My captors built a whole reality to contain me. My captors burn their souls away to fuel their engines. And you? You glitter. You fly about me like a gnat. I am inevitable. I cannot be denied. You strike this incarnation with all your might. It changes nothing. You are not brave. you are not victorious. No matter what form I take... The End comes for you all!”
This game makes me really excited for the next game. And it's ALL because of Eggman. It honestly feels like Sega's trying to give Eggman an evil dad origin story and I'm all for it
18:28 Hey y'all so these lines of dialogue you might've seen floating around on the internet are in fact rare moments of dialogue Sonic can have that are scripted to happen every 10 minutes during game. However, the timer for these to trigger pauses everytime you engage in combat or interact with a story quest. In fact, many of the videos compiling them have stated that they couldn't even get most them to play themselves, so they played the audio in the games files. Now some of them, like the Mystic Ruins are triggered in the overworld, but some of the spots are very specific, so you likely missed a few of them, as I can say, not including the Mystic Ruins reference there are at least 3 more spots on Kronos that will trigger Sonic to comment on his surroundings. The sky voice speaking at 33:50 is also one of these lines that triggers every 10 minutes which is why it seems so strange to play near the end of the game. Edit: So as it turns out, the timer never actually resets, the trigger just skips if you're not on the terrain, this includes jumping, this means you'd literally never hear the monologue on Rhea Island because the platforming doesn't count as the terrain, and if you go back, no monologue will at all.
BENN THANK YOU YOU ABSOLUTE LEGEND! This has been bothering me for WEEKS. Can you please point me in the direction of where you learned this just so I don't have to only take your word on it?
thank you so much for the explanation! i wish that I heard sonic more during the game and the timer didn't reset after combat tho, I wonder why that is
4:54 (I know your making a joke but) I kid you not that is conically a thing. That’s actually how she first ever met Sonic. She thought her self how to read forching cards and one such card predicted how she will one day meet Sonic and have the chance to prove herself to him. Most people just don’t remember or know that lmao It hasn’t been brought up in a while but it is very much a thing that’s been a part of Sonic lore for a while now. It’s also technically a thing in Archie Sonic which while non canon, does go to show that this is a consistent thing across different versions of Amy So yeah the creator’s for this game really did do their research for this and it’s all definitely noticeable (and I love it)
26:22 Pretty sure the idea is that Sage wants a family "born of love and not genetics" because she WASN'T born of genetics, she isn't Eggman's actual daughter, so when she sees Sonic and Tails acting like brothers even though they actually aren't, she realises it really is possible to form a family "born of love".

Sonic basically had his own Ganon now
Sonic: Hedgehog of the Wild
Wait, really? It said it will return?
@Christian Schoff Technically it's more implied. In its monologue it says things like "You strike this incarnation" and "No matter what form I take." That kind of hints its a being like Ganon, something that reincarnate and take a different form whenever it dies.

He's cooler in this game but he can still occasionally be a dolt is what I was thinking.
In a cutscene with Tails, he is shown knocking on a structure when inspecting it. You even hear his hand connect with the stone, so they can touch some things when digitized.
@@jaytd9393 Well...shit, then.
Honestly, its probably a case of being related to the island
I mean, some parts of the ground have the different material some of the structures use, and none of them fall through the floor
Its probably considered as ground so they dont phase through it, or it could have something to do with the island itself
The Divergence animation does show the two of them still being around in spirit form, for what that's worth.
can't he shrink it down as he did in sa2.
Honestly? I always like to imagine shade watches it when hes gone.

Can't really speak on Sage... but with Sonic, I'd like to think it's because of a mix of:
- Space Colony Ark; it was moon-like in appearance before Eggman activated it, and he used the Eclipse canon to destroy the actual moon itself
- Dark Gaia, whose powers were more effective on people (including Sonic) at night
Like maybe it's less "he sees the moon itself as death" and more "he associates it with death because some of the deadliest things he's fought were."
Course this is entirely headcanoning. But it *is* fun food-for-thought.
@@izzy1356
That makes a lot of sense!
To quote a certain Atlus property...
"You cannot escape death. To live is to die; they are one and the same."

Yeah the Wyvern has lots of spines which all cast a shadow and for some reason the sunlight in this game doesnt scroll smoothly and instead uses 1 frame to move a certain distance that is very noticeable when you see a shadow on the ground
you don't even have to slow the footage down, you can see the wyvern's shadow heading for sonic on the rocks behind him.
That makes sense.
I really loved the relationship between sage and eggman, it made me shed a few tears, when sage semi died at the end and eggman being alone at the cliffs

11:20 I believe that this location specifically was pulled from Tails' memory, as he was flying over this level in SA2 in a cutscene iirc
The "excuse me?! Someone?! You left your sassy child up on this tower!" had me laughing.

My best guess is that the zap symbol represents cyberspace, a borderline alternate dimension that the souls of the ancients can live in or at least exist in, so I’m thinking that in the post-post credit scene eggman is uploading Sage’s AI or personality into cyberspace so she can “live on” since it’s been clarified that cyberspace contains the ancients’ hopes, dreams and personalities, I can only assume that’s what Eggman is doing here
Yeah, it was almost certainly the symbol for Cyberspace.
Other than that idk what it means
the ZAP means friends we made all along
9:10 I think it might be a similar situation to the real life case of Lewis and Harris, a single large island that is treated as two clearly separate ones by the locals.
19:31 tangle is a character he met recently as the IDW comics are Canon and take place after forces, and the comics have not currently caught up to frontiers but the IDW comics are canon and since Ian Flynn helped create the character at least if I remember correctly and what's the main writer of the game it was likely him that wanted to bring her up
17:40 I love the fact you and Nathaniel Bandy both did this and complained about it when there's a really cool underground area to get to one of the islands and a rail system that leads to the others and in fact did a weird sort of "skip" instead
They were a bit hidden but both places are a lot of fun to run through to get to the islands and much easier than flying the bird around (and also fit more in with the rest of the game than randomly flying an enemy to a new spot)
Yea, i never used the Eagle to get anywhere, i used the rails and the underground tunnels
I used the Eagle out of random curiosity to see if it would work XD I honestly did not expect the plan to succeed at all actually.. but low and behold it actually did.

Same here
Overall I absolutely enjoyed Sonic Frontiers but I can acknowledge it’s flaws such as leveling one point of Speed/Ring capacity with the Hermit Koco dunno how they screwed that up when they got leveling Strength and Defense right to the point, Cyberspace not being as fun as it could be and only having 4 level themes, however the music makes up for it, fighting certain mini bosses can be janky too like running up Asura, grinding on the rails fighting Strider and getting blocked by its legs as you grind.
The Knight slicing in half could also be a potential nod to Metal Gear Rising in a sense, because of Metal Gear Ray.
It could also be a reference to Excalibur sonic.

It's sad that things had to be cut even though they had 5 years to develop Frontiers
The 60 man team explains that but damn is it unfortunate!
I hope the story of Frontiers can be built upon in the future

He might be telling Knuckles to just go out and explore for reasons not related to work…. Cause whenever Knuckles is playable it’s usually cause it’s in his best interest to work with Sonic
And the bit with Knuckles "punching" the satellite dish could've been a case of him just forgetting about his transparency.

Yup, and the radiation in question probably refers to the Master Emerald, hence why there's so many Chao in Angel Island.
1:53 this had no business making me laugh that long

(sin timer 12:21) the lighting engine "bug" was actually the wyvern boss flying above you
27:43
Apparently now the chaos emralds scatter like the dragonballs after every use
So just him powering down is why they left
"Does a cosmic abomination that consumes everything to nothing really need that complex of a reason to just consume."
YES THIS. That'd be like criticizing Mephiles for doing the same thing, Eldritch Abominations have never really needed concrete motivations to destroy things.
I love SEGA's selfawarnes at 24:55: Yes, Tails is a little bit inconsistent. After saving Station Squar, avenging Sonic in Space, infiltrating a base hidden in an ancient haunted grave, intruding into a military base to rescuse an inmate.... Later being afraif of Chaos 0, yes it is inconsistent^^
I'm glad they acknowledged that because that was one huge complaint made about Forces.
28:15 if you are talking about knight not being there, you can't see him from the angle. They are looking down.
3:18 “We interrupt Sonic Frontiers to bring you Super Mario Galaxy!”
19:06 Tangle was actually mentioned as a reference to the IDW Comics, which are now canon to the games because Ian Flynn, the writer for the IDW Comics, now creates the stories of the new sonic games for Sonic Team
That is not true. The stories are not created by him, he just writes the scripts. In fact, the Japanese dubs remove a lot of the references Ian uses.
