I saw them at a club in Orlando called Barberella right around this time. Now I am an older guy. Plus I had heard this song performed by the Flying Burrito Brothers when I was around 8 0r 9. So I really am an older guy.
Fab. I actually came to UA-cam trying to see if Alex Chilton's version was here by chance. Can't remember what it was on, probably a bootleg might not have even been a release. Twas noice!

I appreciate the twang you hear reflected a few times throughout the song. Perfect nod to Gram.
Gram had been dead for 19 years when this was performed. This performance is now 30 years old. 🤯
we are all older guys now
Ugh, shut up, I can't be that old.
I LOVE YOU GERRY
Flying Burrito cover- in case anyone cared..
I dol
Thanks! I never knew that.
I care. Thanks.
Yep. What an inspired choice
It's the reason I'm watching.
Since 90s to till date still listening to them. Amazing band.
What a great performance.
Remember seeing this at the time and being blown away now I'm an older guy still blown away, fantastic band😎
impressive cover, they're great
Has a bit of Gram Parson's twang I'm his voice.
Killer drums!
yea that drummer was awesome!
I now am a older guy,but still listening to this tune
Seems you have it all worked out!
just beautiful...
just realised I saw them at Strathclyde Union 5 months before this. What a night
This is just great.
Amazing!
Teen Fanclub always rules.

You guys fucking nailed it
Fanclub will never be the same without Gerry😪
very true
Damn is Gerry playing thru a bassman combo?
Amazing! 2
Haha
That's quite good....
Was it that hard to learn the words?
Long live Atomic Records!
Is Jools even plugged in?
Maybe the bands got fed up with him always adding his trademark 'boogie-woogie' piano so pulled the plug!
Not even close to the FBB. Listen to their original if you want to hear how this song REALLY is supposed to sound!
It's a cover version. I'm sure they didn't set out to try and replicate the original note for note
I like it.
Good drummer though!
Go to original
The guitarist can't really do the solo because he doesn't have the specially modified Telecaster, but never mind.
I thought the solo was amazing but then again I didn't realise it was a cover until now
I don't really believe they were trying to make it sound 100% like the original version. Perhaps they were just giving their own unique spin on it.
Skilled musicians but this song is nottttt meant to be played this way
Fuck the rules
