Meeting my cat after a long time. So the story is that in March 2020 I had to go to my sister for a few days to help her with moving out. It turned out that I stayed there 2 weeks, due to sudden lockdown. (I live in Europe). Tobiash is very attached to me, same as I to him. We do everything together and we have special connection, he is smart and he understands everything. But I think every cat is like that when treated well.

Poor cat. He's being misinterpreted. His almost closed eyes says he is content, and he's almost blinking says I love you. That's not a sad cat, that is a very happy and content cat.

A friend of mine went away for 3 weeks, and her cat sat on her bed every day waiting for her to return. When she came back, the cat sat just out of arm's reach, with her back turned to my friend the entire day. The next day she was all snuggles again.
Cats will let you know when they're angry with you.
My cat did that to me when I returned from a long vacation. He ran up and circled my legs purring, remembered he was mad and turned his back to me! He didn’t last all day though. Just a few hours.
When we were living in Japan we went on vacation for a week and had our neighbors look in on our cat Neco (Japanese for Cat). When we got back she did the same "I don't know you" routine. When we go on vacation with our current cat, we have my daughter stay over at our house and since our cat has known our daughter since the cat was a kitten, we don't get the "you abandonded me" routine.
my cat screamed at us (yes, screamed!) for a couple of hours when we returned from a week away and when i went to cuddle her she struggled quite violently to get free and sit on her own but after about 6hrs she was all over us (and of course, we her!) cats - just like women-female/feline!!
My mom and stepdad had a Maine Coon named Smudge. They got her when they were living in South Africa. Mom was diagnosed with cancer while they were there and since my stepdad is British, she was covered fully there (so much better than the American system). So when they’d come back here to live, she would go to SA for several weeks at a time for treatments and checks. Smudge would taken care of by the downstairs neighbor’s son who she knew and liked.
But when Mom and R would come home, she’d give them the “shun”. She’d sit in the same room, but with her back to them. If they moved rooms, she would too and continue the shunning. It didn’t help her cause that Mom and R thought it was funny. Forgiveness usually came with the opening of a tuna can.

Those aren’t sad eyes. Those are “I love you” eyes”. Stop talking and have a gentle head bump and nose touch with him. That’s what he’s asking for.
Yeah, constant slow blinks were his way of saying, "thank the gods of catfood, you are here again! I love you so much!"

My daughter's Tuxedo Cat is exactly the same. Sometimes she leaves him with us if she has to travel (they lived with us for 5 years when she was at school). Even if it's for 2 days, when she comes home, he totally rejects her, turns his back on her, won't eat. She has to take the rejection and keep trying then after a few hours he suddenly headbutts her hard and crawls under her chin. She is forgiven. It nearly makes me cry every time. He loves her so much.
This cat isn't sad. Cats don't need to blink, the fact that he's closing his eyes shows that he's in the calm stress free state. He's just calm and relaxed.

@@jasonstromberg9121 way to make assumptions in the comment section. I'm a veterinary technician with two cats. Cats blink voluntarily. They don't have the reflexive muscles that human beings have that makes us blink subconsciously. The fact that the cat is closing its eyes means that is relaxed and comfortable.

Don't worry, he's actually happy. Cat's express happiness and comfort differently, what we see in him squinting his eyes as being sad is actually him being happy and content.

My son told me that each time I go out my 10 years old cat starts crying pitifully at the door. You bet she is right there when I come back in. Cats really can miss their humans when there bond is strong. Not everyone manage to bond with their cat.
My cat hid himself under my bed for a day just because I left for a day and a half. We have proof
My 'SASHA' does as well. When her food orders come in...she follows me into the kitchen; waits for me to open the boxes and patiently stands there until I fill her bowl up with food. She is always standing on the staircase, and greets me as I pass the stairs so that she can say 'hello' and I can pet her!

Even though I know he’s not sad, this story kills me bc I always felt like my cats felt this way when I left lol. I had so much guilt even though I knew they were ok and being well taken care of! He is such a stunning cat too! 😍😻
This made me cry as I had to do it to my cat too! I didn't board him because I thought he would feel better in his own home so I hired a cat sitting service. I don't think I can ever stop feeling like a dirt bag over leaving him again! This happened to me when I had a heart attack. I was away for 3 weeks. My cats came running when they saw me. My husband says they were upset and hardly ate a thing when I was away. Yes they do have emotio s too. Bless.

I once was away from my cat for 3 years. When I came back, he smelled my hand, looked at me, then ran under the bed. It took a weeks for him to start coming around me again. Months to fully warm back up to me. In the end, hes completely back to normal.
When a cat looks at you and blinks slow and long...thats an i love you. I help a group rescue cats...and it helps when I'm trying to get the cat if I do it to them. They become a little calmer.
My first true cat soul mate was a Siamese. She and I were so close. She'd go for walks with me around the neighborhood. On leash and without. She never left my side. She always slept with me. There were times I had to leave her at my mother's for long periods of time. She hated it and would hide under chairs and take a swipe at people's legs as they passed, lol. But I would call often and my mother would put the phone to her ears so I could talk to her. My mother told me she would get so excited to hear my voice that her tail would puff up and she would purr. That was long ago when I was still young. I loved her very much and still miss her.

I had a tuxedo cat too, he was like a tiny dog, always after me. He died last christmas, I miss him so much. Tuxedo cat are the best
I lost my traveling buddy 4 years ago. He used to run to the door and jump on my shoulders, so he could go for a car ride. He traveled with me to visit friends, and was the first of my cats to come with me to my new home. Then I moved two cats at a time, a five hour drive between places. Paired them up for the least problems.
Your cat is so adorable. Mine looks like his possible sister-- her coloring is different in one respect as she is a 'snowshoe siamese', but the facial markings are almost identical. And their personalities similar. It is always so difficult having to leave them at certain times, even when we know the person we leave them with is caring and trustworthy. Thankfully they love us as unconditionally as we love them back. I can tell your little cat is very special. So glad he perked up in the end.
