"We Close Our Eyes" showcases Danny's amazing range. No one ever mentions him when they're talking about great rock singers, but I think he had one of the best voices out there. And such talent! Losing his contributions to the music world still hurts.
Hey he still sings sometimes on Instagram! And he posts videos of his dog and chickens! He just recorded an acoustic version of Running On A Treadmill while in quarantine.
@@cecilyerker thanks for the tip!
@@leavingitblank9363 Losing his contributions? The man is still alive and one of the foremost film composers in Hollywood! We're lucky to have him, one of my main influences!
@@berniewalasavage7169 That's not what I'm talking about and you know it.
@@leavingitblank9363 Well I'm saying he's still active in rock music, a lot of the time he'll release a single coinciding with a film he's doing. Running On A Treadmill is the quarantine one, but there is this other song he wrote for a film that came out, hmm, maybe around 2010-11? I can't recall, was an action flick. I'll look it up and get back to you.
Danny Elfman is one of the most expressive, dynamic singers of his generation. He is compelling and playful, fully engaged and committed. He is so charismatic, (sigh)
Yes!👆🏻🖖🏻🌺
he was gorjus
And such huge cinematic contributions!
What a life .
I love his eyes and that impish smile he has…hell EVERYTHING about him
The most unique and intricate band of all time. We will never hear another band that sounds like Oingo Boingo
yes
Agreed - there will never be another Oingo Boingo. But - - check out Lemon Demon. He's heavily influenced by Boingo, Talking Heads, etc. It's pretty good.
Conheci Oingo Boingo lendo o livro "jogador n°1". Incrível como a banda não tem uma música ruim
@@derekhale7847 estão vindo pro Brasil aí fazer show!

Not my slave has to be one of the healthiest love songs ever written. Honoring the independence of the other person. "Don't want you in a cage. I only want your heart to find that special place.:
“Good morning, this is Kevin, and Bean. You’re listening to the world famous KROQ F.M. Let’s start off a good day with one of our favorite songs. OIngo Boing, We Close Our Eyes”. How I miss those days!
Kevin & Bean, it was Jed the Fish who first kickstarted their careers.
That brings back memories
I'm transported back to my teenage years getting smashed on the front row of a boingo concert and mosh pitting and diving and crowd surfing with the crew. Those were great days that will live forever in my memories. Boingo is without a doubt one of the best live bands, and Danny Elfman is the model of an accomplished, talented musician. That bassline is killer in Not my slave.
I'm right there with you. I got to see them at Seattle's Bumbershoot (free concerts back then!). Right up front on the rail! Still remember it today 45 years later!
Danny... What a Voice!
Agreed
Unlike any other & as UNIQUE as they get!!
still amazing now!
still amazing now!
Simplemente buenísimo
This is such an amazing song, every time I hear it I cry. Idk why it's just so amazing
I still come back every night🤧
Still come back
Back🤓🦫
Back again, still love this song
come back………
I was so fortunate to see them in concert 4 times. I love them now and forever. I wish they were still together. At least he’s still writing music for movies.
Saw them 3 times, once in a hotel banquet room. Absolutely amazing! Oingo Boingo 4eva!!!
Saw them twice. So good live. Radio didn't do them justice
Saw them in Santa Barbara with Flock of Seagulls 80s were the best!!!!
Saw them first in Denver this same year - 1987 - then again in Orange County...or Santa Barbara!! Was invited to a party and Danny was there with people I knew and I cannot even b begin to tell anyone what a treat it was!! WE SANG TOGETHER!! A year later I ran in to his brother, Richard, at another party!!! OMG!!! hahaaaa!! Best years of my life. Oingo Boingo forever!
You're lucky. I remember my sister and her then boyfriend inviting me to see them on Halloween at the Universal Amphitheatre (I was 16), I said no. Ugh, big mistake!
I can't believe it's him singing..😮
My life was totally F--ked growing up,but bands like (Especially) Oingo Boingo kept me going. Alot of songs inspired me to put up with the bullshit I was dealt. I wonder if some bands realize the affect they have on people? I say them in Irvine (On Thursday) at their last shows. It was beyond words.
I miss the 80s.
A genius, Danny Elfman and Oingo Boingo were so underrated.
They were way ahead of their dimension. He sang using his voice like any virtuoso used their instrument and took his voice where all the rest couldn’t.
That menacing side-eye.... such a pretty smile... damn. Bet that’s what Bridget sees when she closes her eyes.❤️
His voice is controlled velvet, and he has the sexiest teeth and neck. Wow!
😳
Neck? Ummm, okay ......😂
@@donnamariedavidson5065 Necks sure can be sexy.
One of the most brilliant musical talents in the history of music.
Danny's left leg is tryna run away. 🤣
I love Steve spreading his feet and bending his neck so that he can get to the mic. Apparently, the stage team didn't know what they were dealing with.
Thank you, Oingo Boingo !
Danny Elfman was born to pay the Joker... Love these guys.
Sad for today’s generation, missing out on music like this
2021, full quarantine and me here missing this band
I remember listening to this album over and over when it came out in 1986.
My favorite song, and my crush from my childhood. I'm 45 and still love him 😍💜
Danny, please, please play with your band again! There is a new generation of fans that would love to see you reunite at the Hollywood Bowl or the Forum after this stupid pandemic is over! And based on the comments, you’d probably pack houses in Brasil, too.
he only stopped because he was losing his hearing
im pretty sure danny has stated he doesnt wish to do any sort of reunion with the band. the only one of them he still plays with occasionally is steve bartek. if you want to see their music still played, check out oingo boingo former members. it includes some of the members from the original boingo (johnny vatos, john avila, steve bartek, sluggo phipps, and carl graves) with some newer ones to fill in the spaces. their new vocalist doesnt really have the same feel as danny but its probably the closest thing we'll get to ever having the band back together.
@@Tlpopescu he is! its supposed to be streamed i believe, so hopefully we get to see it that way. hes supposed to go on tomorrow if i remember correctly. still not a reunion though sadly, although i know steve will likely be there with him. not sure if hes going to be playing with danny though.
edit as of 20 minutes after posting this, apparently danny posted that steve will be conducting the orchestra, so thats fun!
Brandon does a pretty good job as front man. I was a little worried b4 I saw them last Dec. I was pleasantly surprised..He really kicked serious ass!
What great songs, what a great vocalist (and composer). And what an amazing band!
yesssss amazing , im like a crazy dancing here uhuu
Ditto!!!!!
Incredible.. I'm so glad there last concert row 5 drove 3 days to get to Universal ampa theater. In California for no word's for how we all went & absolutely incredible they were in concert.
I swear they were doing playback until the second song started. What an amazing band.
the first song is lipsyncened if I´m not mistaken
@@petrcarny2992you are correct 💯❤
I still have their original album, I noticed some kinda talent going on, so much I thought they had to be British! Then I found out American, but he got his start in Europe, his story is amazing how he just fell into music and oh by the way could really sing!
He looks so cute! :'( and that voice is fantastic!

I actually like this and for 80s music it is no way cheesy great Melody too it just seems to fit in Place
Still madly in love with them especially Danny Elfman
Its no wonder he's So successful he has talent and drive to match THen he meets hollywood. another successful endover

Danny Elfman é simplesmente um genio musical ❣❣❣❣❣
I'm from OC and I'll will always regret not seeming them at Irvine Meadows during their annual Halloween show. OB is so under rated but I'll love them forever.
As much as I love Danny Eflman, I just can't stop watching Johnny Avila. He's so happy and adorable.
Omg! My two favorite songs. Ugh, Danny Elfman's voice! Melting!🤪💓

Great songs.
I love his voice 😍
Amo essa banda, essas 2 músicas já vi incontáveis vezes, adoro, é muita alegria uma energia maravilhosa
This makes me so happy! Great song! Great memories... man life is going by too fast.. 😔❤️
God it sure is! On one hand there is the past, living in the moment you never think "I'm making some great memories here! Or, let me make some great memories!" You just live in the moment and enjoy it. In the present, you never think, "Thank God I made all those great memories!" Because the moments we lived, they just became, incidentally, memories. It feels wonderful and sad to reminisce! Brings a huge smile to my face, and a great somber sadness inside because I know those times will never come back and the day will come when the music just ends. Live life to the fullest everyone!!!

Not My Slave is one of the best songs of the eighties 💯💯💯💪💪💪💝💝💝
I remember discovering Oingo Boingi 1986 when my Frat Bro from Orange County, CA Matt Hendison loaned me his “Dead Man’s Party” cassette tape to jam in my “Sony Sports Walkman” as I walked the UCONN Campus to class-Thanks Bro!
......first heard Dead Man's Party in Rodney Dangerfield's movie Back to School and heard We Close Our Eyes a months later on the radio......got hooked on OB forever....... :)
i'm from Orange County too--Fullerton! I worked at Stray Cat and Black Hole Records and they sold some Oingo Boingo albums there, my parents were fans as well. I first heard "Little Girls" as a child and immediately became obsessed and I still am today.
@@rollieratibor7163 I grew up in Irvine. I discovered them sometime in 1979 after hearing "Ain't This the Life", and then "Violent Love" -- surely on KROQ, which was still new then and before Richard Blade started working there (in '81?). As soon as their ten-inch EP came out I immediately ran over to Licorice Pizza on Newport Blvd (I really miss the way record stores used to smell with all that vinyl!), went home, copied the record to cassettes so I could listen to it in the car, and then played the bloody hell out of them -- over, and over, and over, and over, again and again. At least until Only a Lad came out in '81, and then Nothing to Fear in '82, then Good for Your Soul, then So-Lo, etc., etc., putting each of those on cassette too and only using the LPs to make recordings to cassette. I still have all my LPs too. I've listened to OB's songs literally several thousands of times over. One never gets old of them. It's impossible to. I just wish they'd get back together again.

I love this song and the next one. Was privileged to see them perform at a free concert in the campus of UCLA and 81 or two. English beat was there too
.
Dude can sing!!!! PERIOD!!!!
Saw them fist time @ SDSU Aztec Bowl 1983 Labor Day aweekend with Madness & The Police... Best concert ever.. Oingo opened first. First time seeing The Police never knew it would be their last tour together. Synchronicity
