This man turned my old burr into a peice of art, very happy that i sold it to him, specaily as a fair few others have got some enjoyed from his work. Well done that man.
For years it was mounted to the wall in the garage in a raw state, then some 10 years ago a pal stayed for a while and he decided to clean and polish it up, i didnt even notise for a long while. My plan for it was to mount it to a staff one day, for i love big whoolping clubs but like so many projects, it didnt happern. I had to move resently so have been selling off alot of my old timber slabs and burrs and that brings us here.
I have no idea what type of wood it is either, but it comes from the Black Ilse in Aberdeenshire and it about 20 years off the tree.
    Fantastic.

This looks like something my grandfather would bolt to the wall in his cabin. He used to leave us notes that he wrote on mushrooms, the shelf type that turns black when you scratch them. He was quite a character, as he had been born in 1901, and lived to be 1 month shy of a hundred years old. This sort of burl is a perfect decoration as it is, but I'm watching the video now to see what you make of it, Mike. Fingers crossed. 🤞

One of the most interesting pieces of wood I have ever seen. One of the really difficult problems an artist has is knowing when to stop. This project required you to make tough decisions. I might have done it differently, but my solution might have been less successful.

A very different and interesting shape to make something out of. Nature already created a beautiful creation. Very wise to keep it so close to the original and still make it useful. 😊

Not the loveliest piece, but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I'm just amazed at your inspiration and expertise. No matter what the outcome, your video's are always entertaining, and I admire the fact that you go to the trouble of acknowledging every comment. A couple of requests from someone who knows nothing about it -could you give a quick demo of 'sharpening up' and what happens to all your shavings? Thanks again for great videos.

By far, you have the artistic eye for shapes and colors. I so love how you see your finished product when you start. You do have the license to change your mind at any time. I am the police for that issue.
