They actually did this. Just click on the question mark while selecting the skin.
Nice haha 😆
@@dontreadmyprofilepicture960 How do you read a picture?
Honestly it feels like they've got their priorities straight. Not very interested in a midrange phone but I sincerely hope they become successful enough to get big enough to take on the flagship models.
Thay haven't. It costs 500€, 545€ with a charger.
Overall worse than the equally priced Pixel 6.
It's priced a lot more than the 6a.
The only thing they did right (and damn they did right) is design. Everything else is overpriced.
@@Anankin12 Who buys Pixels anymore though they had the same camera for several models, that’s not innovation that’s just fraud lol
I don’t know since when he became an iphone manic. “Not like an iphone” & “not better than iphone”

Well that's what I love about you Arun you are really honest while reviewing phones.

Software optimization, reasonable pricing, looks like dear old Carl Pei's carrying on the OnePlus spirit at another company.
I kinda like the LEDs, they're just aesthetic fun, yet can be useful if you face down the phone often.
Flip side is that when one plus was released it was a flag ship killer, giving you the best specs for a fraction of the price. This on the other hand is higher priced android phone with just some gimmicks to show for the higher pricing.

I always loved the design of the iPhone 5. Its curved but flat edges and the matte backside was always very appealing to me. But when I bought my first iPhone it was the iPhone 6 with its curved edges, which most of all the other companies followed afterwards. I couldn't find a phone I would have really liked. Therefore I am so glad and thankful that Apple re-introduced the design with its 12 series, so that other brands can now follow.
I will see how my money situation unfolds and will probably get either the Nothing Phone or the iPhone 13. I won't miss out on this beautiful design this time around.

As for now, it doesn't sell me yet besides the aesthetic and the no chin display. But I'm so interested to see where this company is going years later cus I have a feeling they can do more than this in the future with more refined phone and everything.
Phone market is so competitive that they have to pull a lot of investment to be able to survive until they pull something that gathers the mainstream attention.
Well they started by copying iphone, so not a good start
After a few years they will just become another oneplus
@@graywolf2694 many would disagree.. Many love iphone-esque aesthetics but not the lockdown os and ecosystem, so they do have a market.
@@graywolf2694 That's a good start, what do you mean? They have a focus and a pathway
I bought one about a month ago, black/256gb. Switching from my OnePlus 5T I've used since 2018. So far, I have no problems with it. I'm also liking all the attention I'm getting from coworkers and friends when the glyph lights do its thing. When they hold it, they always think that it's an iPhone. Now I always put my phone backside up since that's where all the jam is. For more intensive use like gaming, I use my Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra with a bigger screen, faster processor and bigger battery. So it's a great dynamic.
What are sound and system/app security sounding and looking like? What devices over past 2 years would you consider to rate best in class in these areas? And love your videos!! Been a fan for a while and still look to you for honest and data driven reviews. Well done Sir.
For me, they started with a great option, these specs are really good for most users nowadays who just want a smooth experience and average cameras to use, if they manage to keep increasing the stocks and mainly optimizing the user experience they might become very popular in the next few years.
I totally agree with you
this phone is actually good camparing its software 2 other midrange phones (which have dowgraded versions its flagship) and if they can manage production they might make it big in asia and africa where budget phones are far more popular
It should be 100$ cheaper for what it offers
Yeahh, but the price though. Should be at least 100-150 Dollars cheaper.
Overpriced...it's double price of a very very good Samsung or oppo or diomi phone...double price...let that sink in

I think this could work in western markets but in Asian markets it got no chance beating Samsung or Xiomi. Feels like a cool toy compared to big phone companies.
@cheese apple is really popular here in asian countries too. here you would see only apple or samsung phones mostly just like western market. what's different is newer brands will have a lot harder time in asia than the west
@cheese I mean once you buy an apple product they want you to use everything only from them, then they can scam you easier
iPhone is best
Nah the western market is already overtaken by apple & Samsung. They've got no chance

the clap at 2:48 :D man I love the effort you put into your videos... quality is in the details ;)
I think the back lights can be applied to business or 'covert'/privacy type of situations. For example; having you onky know who's calling by the back lights, as opposed to people around you might save an awkward moment. Or knowing if it's a call, text, or email when you're working, might help with eliminating having to check your phone too often when you're in a meeting or having to attend to something and want to know, but don't want to answer everything that comes in 🤔🤷😂 that's the first thing that came to mind when mentioned about the gimmick of the back lights, otherwise; those are pretty specific scenarios and even I am not in them that often. Although, idk like the design myself. I have an s21 ultra though, and wouldve got the nothing phone if I had known about sooner maybe before I got my phone 🤷
If it was snapdragon 870 instead of 778, believe me it would have been a real threat to all the other phones from midrange to flagships!
edit: I think software updates and patches don't have anything to do with chipsets. I have an unlocked bootloader and i can choose any rom irrespective of android version.
It is just my opinion.I can be wrong as well
they choose 778 for better heat/power efficency
778 is better for long-term software update
yeah 👁️🗨️👁️🗨️ I was expecting 870
I agree about SD870. The company is actually new, so they need something which will be actually useful and bold to justify the £339 price tag rather than claims.
Loved the glyph lights, it's unique, it catches attention but it's actually not very useful enough.
After few years when their eco-system will be strong enough then they can provide this kind of phone for similar or greater price tag.
@@DDTS_F_FAIZ They choose it cause it is cheaper. They cannot sell 870 at this price point.

I’ve just bought the black one because of the price difference between black and white. It’s a bit quirky but now I’ve set it up how I want, I love it, partly because it suits my quirky nature and partly because it has a much better spec than my Oneplus 3T which has had two battery changes and now has started playing up.
It's like the proverbial glass half-full or glass half-empty concept here. You either think it's too expensive for the specs or cheaper than an iphone but with quality, optimization and updates that come really close to the iPhone. Me, I'm totally fine with this phone if I were out on the market for a new one.

I really, really hope Nothing just stays on this track that they started on. OnePlus didnt and look where it got them. I cannot even begin to express how much of a difference a good vibration motor makes for example.
Yeah, I've gotta say, I've been a fan of OnePlus since they started, and they always seemed to give good performance to price ratios, but could never get one where I live. Then, when I got the opportunity to get one, I got the Nord 5G. Jesus Christ, what a trainwreck, especially the camera. They market it as 64 MP, but it's actually 16 MP upscaled to 64, a really dirty trick when it comes down to it.
One Plus seemingly has been doing Processor Bait n Switch...
Both Their Nord N200 & One Plus 9 Revealed they actually contained a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 - After the Android 12 Install..... I asked One Plus to Explain.... Their Concerned Department hadn't explained yet...
specially considering the owner of this company was one of the founders of oneplus
The thing that's annoying me is that the white version is clearly much more aesthetically pleasing, yet the cheapest model with 128GB aka the only one that actually costs 400 like advertised is only sold in black :/
Probably because most people buy white and they're sold out.
@@eatcarpet no! they literally don't make that one for some reason??

Incredible video!
You can't really complain for how good the phone is for it's price and it's just a begining product for a company, the style can change to a sleeker design and polish the corners, I can't wait to see what this company does in the future, it could be competeable to the phone giants of Apple and Samsung.
"A company", no brother, "The company". There's literally nothing new about the company. The swedish CEO, brought his entire experience and expertise after founding Oneplus and leading it for 7 yrs. It's not just a random new company trying to win against big sharks, it's a company run by the guy who became one himself. So don't give them the "Oh hey they new to the biz, let's cut them some slack" because that's how they literally sold a piece of 'nothing' new to the foolish early adopters. And yes it makes a world of difference, he has connections, resources/assets, etc. which any random new starter wouldn't have and would spend decades building.
This company is exactly another 'OnePlus'. Exactly how 1P started out with its shit "Invite only" sale system to generate artificial scarcity and let people accept its price. Exactly how 1P came in as a market disruptor aka flagship killer and exactly how it is going to be 5 yrs down the line when it will be releasing flagship competitors with almost the same price and an outdated design. The design is the identity of a brand, once you settle in, you don't want to change it too much lest you want to lose loyal fanbase. This is their initial design, and it looks hideous, and if it doesn't, then it will, by the time Nothing 5 comes out. I'm not saying Carl is a bad leader, he was greatly involved up until 1P8 and that's when 1P started going downhill. So he can give you a quality experience from his brand, its just not a new one and the product itself is nothing special as you can surmise from the reviews.

The phone design is actually nice. I dig it. I really think the company is on to something. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them in the future
For anyone wanting to get it, please know that some of the first batch of this phone come with defective screens that show color banding to human eyes. The entire screen shifts color from white at top to green at bottom. So far it's unclear how or if the company will take care of this issue, but I would suggest waiting until their quality control gets better.
There's always teething problems with new phones. Apple even made one of the worst design changes when they released the iPhone 4 with a glass back... So many cracked phones. Samsungs fold screens leaving a crease. Its to be expected.
First batch unit almost _ALWAYS_ have issues. Anyone wanting a brand new phone day one should be taking better care of the current device that they have. It's a want not a need. That simple.
Also pixels can die

Can you do a tutorial on how to maximize the use of a Samsung? Especially the camera which i find is very hard to get the good quality photos on 😩 love your channel 🙌
The lightning on the back is actually nice feature. Because i work from home i often have my cell on vibrate. Problem is, set on a table, unless you check the screen, it is not obvious that you missed a call or a text. The backlighting could help also those with hearing issues. Like i set red for call from kids or anyone i do not want to miss a call from.
This review highlights the problem with most phone other phone reviews, they focus on the camera. Most of the people I know do not care that the picture is washed out, they just wanna take a picture as they arent camera-files. The camera seems to be the only thing that most people ( including this channel sometimes) focuses on and takes up around 50% of the review. The beauty of this review is that it doesnt focus on anything but reviews the entire phone. From this I now know that for a reasonable price I could get a high quality phone that is comparable to Apples higher priced options. Wish more reviews would be like this.... at this length and not 6 minutes about the phone and 10 minutes about how the camera is slightly dimmer than another and doesnt have the latest wide angled multi lens gizmo. Phones are more than cameras, youtubers should remember that. In short.... great review.
That is because the camera and media are the only things that differentiate the brands in reality.. All of the other specs are pretty similar so it doesn't matter which phone/brand you will choose... All flagship Androids until this year ran on the same Snapdragon process, except Samsung in Europe... So they all can do the same basically, but the difference comes with how the processing power is utilized and that can be seen best in the camera segment... For example, OnePlus and Xiomi flagships are basically identical in specs, but Xiomi camera is superb, whil OnePlus is just bad and all of that is because of the software...
Not necessarily, a lot of companies throttle phones to elongate battery life. Some run it full throttle which causes overheating. Camera reviews seem to be an easy cop out. PC tech channels test performance, temperature and throttling. The graphics cards are hardly any different in specs but I still know the best manufacturer and what models to stay away from. Heat is an example, my Oneplus 9 pro gets extremely hot in my hand....hardly any reviews go I to detail about it...so guess what? Manufacturers ignore it mostly and focus on the camera performance as they know that would get the most attention during reviews. So i have to put a phone down as it it could potentily be a burn risk but hey it takes great pictures. Is the call quality good? Who cares but the beauty filter makes me look pale...... Just wish people would actually review all parts of the phone and not glance over some things.
I totally agree! Camera obsession is not something most phone users are obsessed with! Only some nerds are. Most people want a good stylish functional phone

As a user of this phone it takes a while to appreciate many of its unique aspects. I wouldn't dare say it's top of the line, but it's functional and does what 'I' need it to do fast and comfortably. I will say though, I did think that the glyphs were a neat but ultimately useless feature. However, while I am at work they have become somewhat useful due to the customisation of the back face glyphs - i keep my phone face down mainly out of habit and because I don't feel comfortable with other people nearby potentially seeing my notifications (I'll spare y'all my anxiety related reasonings) but the glyphs have, on occasion, allowed me to recognise what type of notification/message I've received. Of course it's situational and dependant on my phone being in my line of sight. But one of the niche features, while ultimately niché-ed and not truly practical, has [in my experience] been somewhat useful. I do hope the future Nothing phones are developed with more unique functions that adapt to a diverse user market and build upon the current accessibility of their products.

I bought it on release. My OnePlus 6 was showing far too many signs of age and I no longer wanted a barebones workhorse, I just wanted a solid phone that was also a fantastic product. As someone who was nostalgic to the tech of the late '90s-early '00s, where all portable devices had their own identity, this was the right for me for right now.
Yeah I have a OnePlus 6T and the only reason to upgrade it is just because you're sick of using it the phone still is current and performant 5Y after release !! I think I've had it longer than all my other phones combined !!
2 THINGS that does make it stand out from the rest. The DESIGN and BLOATWARE FREE. I highly appreciate these 2 features and hope that Android phones can adopt this approach.
Agree. For me the only downside for this phone is the battery and charging speed. They should atleast make it 5000mah and. 65w
Poco F3 will destroy this. This is another garbage gimmick phone. The OLED quality is shit tier, the speakers are mid tier android and the backlight is annoying and useless since everyone will just slap a case. It is a joke of a phone. Hey man just wanted to say my brother just got the "nothing phone" and it's great, he got it thanks to you.
I think the LEDs on the back are fun and could be usefull. I often put my phone face-down on a table (in case something drops on it) since the screen hovers above the surface due to the silicone case. If it were charging, i could see from a distance, at a glance, how much the phone is charged. Furthermore, i find myself in situations where i need just a little bit more light to take a picture, but the flash is actually too bright or ruins the mood of an image. Plus it sets it apart. Now, i'm not about to pay 50% more for a phone that is not better than my current Xiaomi phone, but i appreciate the effort.

About the Glyph lights being useful as a battery indicator from afar, it seems that the LEDs turn on when you plug the phone in and show the indicator just for a few seconds. After that, the LEDs turn off and you have to wiggle the phone for the lights to show the charge level again. At this point, with the phone already in your hand, you might as well just flip it and read the actual battery indicator.
This is definitely a different phone, but it just seems trying to be desperately so instead of bringing any meaningful value, like the brand wants you to believe.

Ptttt the last part was the best sponsored message I’ve ever seen on this channel lmao
I will be watching to see where they go in the future.
I said I'll be watching!
I like the idea of a phone that's not pre-loaded with battery and storage hogging bloatware. And the glyph that you're not impressed with is one of the features I really like. I'm in conference meetings where I flip my phone down to mute it. But I have missed important calls doing that. I love the idea of the indicator for important contacts. So they took this one idea and said "what else can we do with it?" Good for them.
If nothing keeps its innovative mind in the future , then there is no doubt that it will be one of the most successful mobile brands and earn more respect from people than apple. I think that this innovative mind is the one which we need than the others who focusses to increase their income .
It's nothing against apple 😂
There's nothing innovative at all here, though. There's just good specs (ram, storage) and no chin(all of which have been created and used before)
This is just a nice package of things you might want.
The glyph system is a party trick. I like it and it is a good one, imo, but something that is practically useless isn't an innovation.
LG was one of, if not the most innovative phone siries. And they are dead. So being innovative doesn't make your phone magicly respected.
What exactly is innovative here? They are a low spec, knock-offs of iPhones that run Android... Yeah, the screen chin is done to mimic Apple as much as possible and I believe that is what it was done for... If they wanted to innovate, they would include a charger as the major brands don't anymore...
Nothing innovative here.
Personally, I don't think it's quite worth paying >50%ish extra for what's basically a thinner bottom bezel, a fancy back, and more refined software, especially when you can somewhat solve the latter two by modding the phone and finding a good custom ROM, respectively.
I do like the direction they're going though. Just need better hardware for the price and they might become a pretty competitive choice.
Mrwhosetheboss, i dont know if you know but the creator of nothing was the creator of OnerPlus (its Carl Pei)
The lighting in the back design is my favorite thing about this phone, I'll be getting one when they comeback in stock.
What is so exiciting about those LEDs? Do you plan to admire those LEDs all day?
Yeah that pretty much is the only thing that could, or should, be anyone's favourite thing about this phones, since it isn't special in any other way. And you get tired of that back LED shenanigans within a week or two at the most. Probably with 24-72 hours. And then, you just got a "Nothing" but hype, a "Nothing" but bling and a "Nothing" but generic.. phone. And they even ruin the so called "clean" look, by printing that "CE Garbage can" bs warning on.. Yeah, like I said, it's going to feel cool to walk around with for some. But only for a week or two at the most! Then that gimmick effect is going to wear off.. Especially if half your school gets one too! And then you realise that you just spent 399-499£ on a phone that basically looks like a minimalistically pimped iPhone, spliced with a "Pixel a" series phone, but without all the special google only apps, that comes with them. And most of all, without what makes a Pixel, a Pixel!! DA G-CAM!!
In short.. If you aren't rich enough to just buy this, like someone buys their everyday lunch, you're gonna regret that you didn't get a Pixel 5a instead. Or that you didn't fork up an extra 350, and got yourself an iPhone. I.e. if you're that sheep kinda guy or gal!
Swim easy!!
just get one on o2, we got tons of stock
I would use it as a spare phone. I've been considering transferring my business line to a mobile line, so this might be a suitable backup phone, but I can't see it as my personal phone. Love how flashy it is.
The part a peach showed when he said but made my day😂😂
Can you please do nothing review now?
After all the updates it got?
I am in a confusion its better or not
Amazing review and content! Keep up the amazing work Arun.
The video released 7 mins ago and the video duration is 10 mins and irony is that you posted the comment 4 min ago without looking into the video
@@SaiTeja-qb5nb they just want him to give them a love reaction or something 😂
@@SaiTeja-qb5nb This is why the world is never a better place with people like you.
6:17 I can't help but agree with this. Because of this level 5 screen, I would practically never put the phone with the back facing upwards.
whatever glas is on the phone, it will always scratch at some point in its life. so better go with screen protection anyway
@@cuerex8580 You're right. But right there I was talking about a situation where the phone would be as it is out of the box, which means without any protection.
@@Mylca i have a galaxy z fold 3.. i removed all screen protectors and the phone is always in my empty pockets. it scratches up anyway.
[7:52] Arun secretly rick rolled us!! 😂
Pretty sick video!
Imma keep it real, even if the glyph interface isnt 'useful', I freaking love it. I don't feel like everything in a phone has to be purely functional, just so long as it doesn't get in the way of the experience.
I feel like it would be tremendously useful for me, who often keeps my phone face down on a table and such.
I can see it being nice if upgraded to rgb and capable of flash levels of brightness - I still miss the notification light from my droid x
You won't like it as much when you realise it adds 50 dollars to the cost
@@rundowngalaxy7675 don't care, it's $400 it's still priced well enough for me to consider it
But you would consider it more if It didnt have lights on the back and instead had better specs right?
I think the gylf interface would be very useful for people who often get distracted by their phones while working and want to focus on their work without needing to constantly looks at their phones screen for imp calls or notifications.
Made my day!
I think the light up is cool for people who can't use their phone in work space or they just can't have it on normal mode, they can just look and tell who is calling.
7:57 made my heart flutter with joy😂. Though you are British by nationality seeing you in India's Jersey just made me estatic 😂❤️
Alright thanks for watching and congratulations 🎉🍾 🎊 🎈you have been selected among my shortlisted winners
They nailed it with the apps opening and closing animations and a clean ui it seems
Which apps and tools and software you use to edit your videos
Watch Apple “reinvent” it in the next two years and put LEDs in the Pro Models similar to this. Probably make the Apple logo a glowing one
RGB!!! GIFF US R GGGG BBBBBBBBB :P
Back when apple used to have glowing logos on the back of their macbook laptops
