    The Epic bench looks awesome Tom . Didn’t expect anything less.
    Wasn’t able to watch the finale episode. Will watch this weekend. You both are amazing at putting these videos together. Tom you are an inspiration in what you do. Can’t wait for the next build.

    I made a bench very similar to yours about 30yrs ago. I made small “ramps “ on either end of the tool tray which allows me to sweep out the tray directly into the can. You did a really nice job on this bench. Kudos to you! Thanks for the inspiration that I often get while watching your channel. All the best to you and yours.

      Thank you! I know exactly what you mean about adding ramps because my bench also has ramps in the tool tray but in the photo they had not yet been added. I love the easy sweep clean too 👍 Thank you for your kind words and for watching!😎

    I’m sorry I missed the actual love reveal. Great bench. It inspires me to finish working on my 28ish year old bench with a 3/4” plywood top. My top will be pine or fir, not maple.

    Beautiful workbench! I know exactly how you feel - I completed my split-top Roubo with Benchcrafted hardware a few years ago. I'm sure you will love that bench for the rest of your career.

    Great bench Tom. Those vises really solve a lot of the issues I have had. I can’t believe how easy they make it look. I had a bench crafted tail vise and took it off as I hated the winding in and out

    That is a beautiful bench Tom. I've wanted to build something like that for years, but now with the price of lumber in my area so high I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it

    • @EpicWoodworking
      @EpicWoodworking  7 місяців тому +3

      Yes, prices can get crazy for certain materials some places. The nice thing about a workbench is you don’t have to use more expensive hardwoods if you can find something you like. And if you can find a local bandsaw miller, you might find they are the best, and cheapest option, for what might be local air dried species.
      Hope that helps a bit, thanks for watching! 👍😎

    Beautiful bench, looks like it may have been inspired by the Ulmia OTT.

    • @EpicWoodworking
      @EpicWoodworking  7 місяців тому

      Thank you 🙏 Actually the design was inspired by my original (32 yr old) bench, which was mostly inspired stylistically by Frank Klausz’ traditional European style bench. He made a video about it back in the ‘80’s and it was featured in “The Workbench Book” which I got into during the course. But his bench had the bulky and complex tail vise and face vise, and my base is considerably heavier.
      I’ll have to check out the Ulmia OTT. Thanks for watching! 👍

    Beautiful bench! Just curious why you chose soft maple over hard maple?

      😂I guess it was tough not to show it…and I have to admit there was a relief to be done the course and have a bench that I really like at the end of it. Thanks for watching! 👍😎

    Why do you lay your plane down on its side?
    Why did you bolt the bench together rather than use a wedged mortise or other wood joint?

    • @EpicWoodworking
      @EpicWoodworking  7 місяців тому

      Old habit I learned from someone, it’s said to help preserve the edge.
      And I chose to bolt because I didn’t prefer the longer through tenon required to wedge…I like the cleaner look and maybe it comes from having made quite a few poster beds. Good questions, thanks for watching! 👍

      Hi Gary, they are made by Hovarter Custom Vise- you'll see the link to them in the Description, but here it is for your convenience: hovartercustomvise.com. The owner, Len Hovarter is a great guy!
