It's one thing to be intellectually aware of the vagaries of variance, but it's quite a different thing to be emotionally capable of handling its worst excesses.
And for THAT, rather than condolences, you deserve my congratulations. That is one stable course you are sailing there, sir!

Even though Andrew and Brad have been vlogging longer and they are still on their way to the moon (nothin but love for them), you have definitely my favorite poker channel/vlog out! Rampage, great content, and above mentioned great, but your vlogs have moved into my favorite position and I truly hope you keep them going... sorry for the 100k loss. However, we BOTH know that's not gonna hold you down or back... you're amazing and I hope to get to the west coast and get to play some poker with you! Keep it going brother, it helps the "not so great" players hopeful 😁😁😁

I used to refuse to watch anyone besides Mariano, thinking "Brad is too big, he's more mainstream and I really like Mariano's game and vlogs." I've evolved to love both Brad and Mariano, but Mariano is definitely my OG poker vlogger.
Edit: Just went back to see how long I've been watching and it's been 3ish years already, which sounds insane and I'm even having a hard time believing that.

Thanks for another great poker video. As I mentioned before, stay positive and let the good runs run longer. I saw the second hand you mentioned while it was running live. This is where you got a straight at the end. In my mind I'm thinking, this is why its sometimes better to be agresive and don't allow your opponent catch a break by letting them see a free card. That was a wrong move from your opponent on that hand. Well played Mariano. Best of luck!!

Great stuff Mariano, and your equanimity about the big L shows real maturity. In all my years in poker, it wasn't the best players who survived as pros. It was the very good players who didn't tilt out of their skulls when the downswings happened (and didn't have life leaks away from the poker table).
You have established yourself as a top player, but also have the maturity and balance to withstand the variance.
I hesitate to use an Erik Seidel analogy, since he's a tournament guy. Maybe if Joey Knish were playing nosebleeds... somebody who just puts in the hours, plays really well, and doesn't tilt their bankroll off when things go poorly.
    Happy New Year.

Variance can occasionally be unbelievably brutal. I've had a few days when things have happened that you would think is close to impossible. The first time it happened, I almost threw up. I had lost many, many buy-ins and around 7 times my rent in less than an hour (and I later went over the hands - they all played themselves). Everyone is different, but I had to take a short break. Good for you if you can just get back in there right away, just be vigilant for signs that you are not playing like normal.
