Awesome, no more guess work as to which key to use. Excellent DIY video yet again Justin. You've just made my caravan holidays a little more enjoyable. :)
We were very lucky Justin, we purchased a Hilltop caravan and not only is it a great van, but all hatches were keyed the same. The only different key we have is the door, which is a different shape so you dont get it mixed up.
About time someone has come up with the 1 key solution. I’ve been building houses for years and have always had a 1 key solution for windows, doors etc. Good work J
Great idea. We have our keys on separate tabs, all labelled and on one key board inside the door. I just grab the one or two I need at the time. Suits me fine and I won't bother changing, but great work as always explaining the options available!
Excellent, excellent, excellent. Awesome instructional video. You always make jobs look so simple Justin. Beggars belief why ALL caravan manufactures can't fit keyed alike latches at production.
Thank you for this video, this is a great idea, especially as I hire out my 25ft caravan. Having the 1 key that can do most of the locks is a game changer. Can't wait to do this mod. :)
Great idea! 376474 keys are so annoying! Like the toilet hatch... who's going to want to steal a bucket of turds? 😂 and why do the tray tables have locks. Ours have two each. Like wtf? 🤦♀️
For the drop down table, I’ve just used tonneau cover elastic loops from Supercheap. Had ‘‘em on for ages and they never flew open. Just keep an eye on the condition of the elastic but mine are several years old now and still good
Awesome solution 👌 , I too hate to many keys 🔑 , just annoying 🙄 The caravan maker should give a fuel voucher for your efforts and time . Greetings and cheers 🍻 from south africa 🇿🇦
A solution I use to identify which key for which lock is coloured cable ties or nail polish. Got a pack of different coloured cable ties from supercrap and a few bottles of cheap nail polish for the locks with no cable tie applications. however one key would be way better!
The way I keep my keys organised (until I can get them common keyed) is coloured vinyl dot stickers…dot on the hatch, the same colour as the key’s dot. I still have to carry 7 different keys, by at least I can get the right one at a glance.
Much better mate, nice work. Have you seen those wireless entry handles where you use a wrist band or key fob type setup? Wondering if they are any good or not much benefit
If you have a master key to get the locks out, put the key in that you want to use as your key and grind the pins flat and refit then only the new key will fit, you can do it to all the locks as long as you have the same style lock/master key for all your locks.
Water is still in development. Coming soon! It will be a case of replacing the cap which will house the new barrel in it. When available we will announce on social media
Paying that much for a van & walking around like a janitor is a sucker move.. Australians keep copping the shit they accept 🤷♂️ you guys deserved better for what you do for the manufacturer.
Average van is $300-500 but depends on type and quantity of locks. Can provide a firm price if your keen. Just email us pictures/and or count of the locks you have and we work out a kit to suit 👍🏻
My current van has the annoying key locks on the drop down table but my previous van just had sliding latches so they are around and available. Why they have a key on a simple drop down table is a bloody mystery.
How ridiculous that you would have so many different keys for a caravan, Hope you did your locks for your boats n shed n canopy (if not central locking). Keep up the awesome content
The painful thing is that they could if the wanted to. They just need to sort through the parts to match up all the items with the same key number. It would be a pain in the butt, but much easier for us than having to rummage through all our keys...
Definitely a pain, but my wife is now freaking out. Does that mean that anyone with one of those red keys can walk up to our van, take out the barrell and come in and go all wolf creek?
My camper manufacturer keyed everything alike, on my tray toolboxes and my slide-on. Piss weak effort by any manufacturer that doesn't. As said before, send the builder the bill.
Probably not the biggest issue. The bigger one would be grabbing a removal (red) key and a new barrel. Going to some else's caravan, removing their barrel with your red key, inserting your new barrel, then BINGO your in
I couldn't find the COROSION PORTECTION OIL', at the shops, so I had to purchase the Corrosion Protection Oil.. Hopefully it's similar product. 😁(Sorry)
I’ve never understood why when you’re spending big dollars on a van they don’t like-key all the locks! Cost would be minuscule for manufacturers, compared to sale price and would make customers happy. Customer service 101…..
We have spoken with a few van builders now and it comes down to lead times. Already the wait can be 12-24 months so adding more in at the factory is not viable. Some dealers now moving to change them out prior to handover which is great. The hatches come with random locks in them - hence why they may randomly have some match but most not.
Absolute idiots for not simplifying during manufacture process- laziness on manufacturers behalf. We did same on the house - and next place will have all fobs to open, lock and arm.
Just lazy by The manufacturers Not hard for them to key them all alike at the factory We do it on buildings as a matter of course I see you’re using a Mexican socket set, don’t you own any proper spanners
We picked up our new van last week! So many keys! Guess what il be doing! Thanks Justin! 🍺🍺
Have fun!
This is why I watch you vids, for the great ideas.
So annoying the van manufacturers don’t install key to like locks.
Cheers mate
Great solution as I know everyone hates having too many keys, they are such a pain, especially when trying to do a quick packup etc.
cracking idea 👌why don't caravan manufacturers do this Justin? another great DIY video
Thanks mate
I did mine a month ago with same manufacturer, Jamie was great to deal with can’t wait till he gets the couple of other barrels sorted
Yeah the water tank caps will be great to swap out 👍💪
Awesome, no more guess work as to which key to use. Excellent DIY video yet again Justin. You've just made my caravan holidays a little more enjoyable. :)
Glad I could help!

Ah cheers mate!! It’s a great idea for home as well hey👍
Lanes Lock supply the barrels & we change the old out for new. Our clients loved it.
I have this same frustration with our van…. I will be keen to give this a go! Great vid keep them coming!
Cheers mate

Glad to help, yeah I can’t see why they don’t match em up at factory hey
Thanks Team - I have been in touch with Jamie from 1 Key and will most likely be doing similar to our van as well.
Ahh good stuff mate. Enjoy👏
Thank you for this video, this is a great idea, especially as I hire out my 25ft caravan. Having the 1 key that can do most of the locks is a game changer. Can't wait to do this mod. :)
Glad it was helpful!
Great vid to show people what is out there if you look, also great instructional vid.
Thanks 👍
Thanks for the video, One thing I would do is use some Threadlocker 243 by Loctite to secure the locking screws so they do not vibrate out
Good idea for sure
Great idea! 376474 keys are so annoying! Like the toilet hatch... who's going to want to steal a bucket of turds? 😂 and why do the tray tables have locks. Ours have two each. Like wtf? 🤦♀️

That is great, I think if I can even do that, TFS, Cheers.
Great idea, luckily my LSC hybrid has only 2 keys, 1 for door, 1 for 7 hatches, makes life easy.
Perfect 👍👍
Super idea...well done Mr Fixit!😉
Thank you! Cheers!
Bloody awesome content, loving these little upgrade/install videos 👍🏻
Cheers mate, glad ya enjoy them
That was a lot easier than I thought it would be
They look better quality 👌 than the standard ones

Cheers all the way from Oz 🍺🍺
What a brilliant idea. Yeah we got the same problem. Does my head in. Mite look into this . Brilliant mate cheers 👍
Glad it helped mate. It’s a few dollars but geez it’s nice to have 1 key

Thanks Justin, good idea .I walk around like a jail warden with all my keys on my trailer .👍👍🍻🍻

Mate love it ordering as I type
How good are these 😮
Brilliant idea.
Thank you! Cheers!
Much better mate, nice work.

I haven’t seen them hey, I reckon I’d forget to wear the wrist band all the time though hey😂
@@TripInAVan yeah good point. Stick to the old key style, can’t go wrong
Great vid mate, cheers.
Awesome idea for convenience. Just hope a thief doesn't steal your one key that opens everything haha.

great service, shame the vans don't come std key like that
How did you do the water tanks? Are they like the main Door and you use a barrel remove key or something else. Cheers.
Water is still in development. Coming soon! It will be a case of replacing the cap which will house the new barrel in it. When available we will announce on social media
Your on to it !! Good on you👍
Thanks 👍
Hi guys fantastic vid getting rid of that bunch of keys should help with your weight of the van LOL 😂😂 keep up the vids
😂😂 help the gvm hey
Fantastic 😮

Nice one 🤙
Thanks for the visit
It's funny, I have 10 different $##%en keys and have been wanting to do this...Might give these guys a call tomorrow now🤘 Cheers 🍺

Bloody Awesome stuff! What was the cost for that many locks?
Average van is $300-500 but depends on type and quantity of locks. Can provide a firm price if your keen. Just email us pictures/and or count of the locks you have and we work out a kit to suit 👍🏻
Nail polish each lock and key easy. But still a good solution.
Does the kit also include the caravan main door ?
Hi Brayden depends on type. Yes for Camec door, The Aussie Traveller, Milenco and Dometic in development to be released soon
Yeah mine did
Did you also change the barrels in your water fillers
Not yet, but they have them coming in a few weeks
My current van has the annoying key locks on the drop down table but my previous van just had sliding latches so they are around and available. Why they have a key on a simple drop down table is a bloody mystery.
Yeah I’d reckon a slide would be better hey
Also wish a good Aluminium table would come on the market with no keys! They do our head in too!
Mine is all the same key for all hatches. I got lucky
Mate!!! I’m so jealous 🍺
How ridiculous that you would have so many different keys for a caravan, Hope you did your locks for your boats n shed n canopy (if not central locking).

Thanks mate
Seriously, same with our trailer. It’s 2023!
Cool Ep
Barrel removal key ... every caravan in the World is now unsecured; hahaha
Only works when doors unlocked so it’s unsecured anyway👍
what. about the water filling point
A few weeks away from making a barrel to suit apparently 👍👍👍
Fantastic news well done will send them an email keep up the great work in keeping us informed love your channel
Thank you! Will do!
Caravan manufacturers should provide common keys from the start.
The painful thing is that they could if the wanted to. They just need to sort through the parts to match up all the items with the same key number. It would be a pain in the butt, but much easier for us than having to rummage through all our keys...
I didn’t know it was a thing, our Kedron only needs two keys, one large for the door and one smaller one for everything else.
That’s how it should be 👍
You aware there is a phishing of Your Channel on FB. Keeps saying “you’re a winner”
Yeah thanks mate. Trying to get it removed. No luck
Definitely a pain, but my wife is now freaking out. Does that mean that anyone with one of those red keys can walk up to our van, take out the barrell and come in and go all wolf creek?
Only if it’s unlocked !! So if it’s locked your sweet
And if it’s unlocked , they could open it anyway 👍
@@TripInAVan Awesome, that's a relief! I think our open-ended lap was about to be cancelled!
I had the same thoughts, not as paranoid but wondered about the same probability.
My camper manufacturer keyed everything alike, on my tray toolboxes and my slide-on. Piss weak effort by any manufacturer that doesn't. As said before, send the builder the bill.
You have just shown everyone the exact shape of your key. There goes your security.
Probably not the biggest issue. The bigger one would be grabbing a removal (red) key and a new barrel. Going to some else's caravan, removing their barrel with your red key, inserting your new barrel, then BINGO your in
The most annoying thing about a caravan is it doesn't transform into a helicopter....😁👍👍👍
😂😂
You would think all caravan manufacturers would do that themselves.
I couldn't find the COROSION PORTECTION OIL', at the shops, so I had to purchase the Corrosion Protection Oil.. Hopefully it's similar product. 😁(Sorry)
The price sunseeker charge for a van you would think they would have more attention to detail.
For a caravan that costs what your one does the manufacturer should be doing this as a standard item
Send the bill to the caravan manufacturer
Yeah I’m not sure why they don’t let them alike hey?? I can’t see it being that hard to match them up??
Anthony, I totally agree, Sunseeker needs a rev installing locks not keyed alike.
I recon! How hard would it be to key them all alike. Lazy sods!
What happens if a thief orders himself a set of these and then has a Barrel Removal key ?
I’d reckon he’d have to search around 2000vans to see which one would unlock the door before he could remove the barrel.
My sons a lockey and unfortunately said with a key cut like that the lock would be very easy too pick.
great idea but wouldn’t a locksmith be able to do the same thing
I’m not sure hey.
If I just spent 200K plus for a van and I had to change all my locks I would be pissed!
Didn’t this video drop a few weeks ago?
Nah I only just edited it yesterday
I fell asleep 😂
Hi
Hi mate
You spend so much on a caravan and the manufacturer can't even have the same keys. Shouldn't have to do this after market.
Don't think I could justify$136 a lock . But good idea and need to do it though.
Hi Paul
Not sure where you got that pricing? Sounds very wrong. Reach out if you want me to clarify
anyone with a keen eye might spot something in the left corner @ 2:30
Kangaroo
👍🍺🇦🇺❤️
Why dont Caravan Manufacturers do this simple one Key opens everything.
1 of the reasons I sold my van through frustration.
I’ve never understood why when you’re spending big dollars on a van they don’t like-key all the locks! Cost would be minuscule for manufacturers, compared to sale price and would make customers happy. Customer service 101…..
Yeah I’ve got no idea really, it happens with most vans hey. It’s a common issue
We have spoken with a few van builders now and it comes down to lead times. Already the wait can be 12-24 months so adding more in at the factory is not viable. Some dealers now moving to change them out prior to handover which is great. The hatches come with random locks in them - hence why they may randomly have some match but most not.
Real world problems 😂
A van with locks keyed alike is $250K, peasants get multiple keys, sorry, them’s the rules 🤷♂️
Not so, my $40k peasant hybrid only has 2, one for door, one for all 7 hatches, Lifestyle Iconn E2
Hahaha his is a $250 k van 😂😂😂
Absolute idiots for not simplifying during manufacture process- laziness on manufacturers behalf.
We did same on the house - and next place will have all fobs to open, lock and arm.
I wouldn’t call ourselves absolute idiots, there’s a lot to organise during a van build, this is something we didn’t think about.
@@TripInAVan - not you Justin 🤣
The bloody manufacturers. 😝 That should be part of the overall build process … making it easy for the new owners!!
It’s not that hard to do caravan manufactures you charge a fortune for you products !!! just do it please.! I’ll be doin it myself …….
Just lazy by The manufacturers
Not hard for them to key them all alike at the factory

I see you’re using a Mexican socket set, don’t you own any proper spanners

@@TripInAVan Mexican socket set = Adjustable shifter 😉
